4.2 out of 5 stars 178 ratings

The next book of the series! Union of the Damned (Loner Book #3) LitRPG Series: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09RQPRS7V

Gamer Andrey continues his travels through the world of Arktania, mastering the ability to handle electrical energy and developing his unusual profession, glassblowing. Having received an epic quest from Elenia, the Goddess of Fate, he discovers to his shock that her power is not constrained within the game. Now the virtual Goddess follows Andrey in real life as well, threatening his life if he should fail to complete the tasks she assigns him.

There’s no turning back. More than that, to be honest, he’s beginning to like Arktania with all its residents, its puzzles, and its adventures.

Alas, completing the Goddess’ tasks is not so simple - necessary artifacts are hidden in high-level locations, and the Loner curse means that Andrey will never be able to gather a group around himself and share his burdens. His only option is to seek help from his acquaintances in the Steel Rats clan - but how, as a low-level player, will he be able to pay them back?

Alex Kosh was born on April 15 1983. A blacksmith by trade, he’s spent the last 18 years working as a programmer, the last ten of which as a freelancer. Alex isn’t cut out for the office grind: he’d rather stay at home within the reach of his fridge, his culinary skills only outmatched by his hearty appetite.

Alex has been a keen athlete all his life. He’s an avid free runner accomplished at acrobatics, and he’s been known to have run a marathon in under four hours. By now, he’s started taking life a bit more seriously and switched to heavy weight lifting, such as bench pressing 375 lbs. He’s always been dreaming of completing an Iron Man triathlon but his swimming skills aren’t up to scratch and he’s too lazy to train. To compensate, he practices equilibristics and can already do one-arm handstand. Alex neither drinks nor smokes and he doesn’t cuss even when he stubs his toe on the bed post.

He likes playing board games, Dota and all kinds of MMORPGs. He also moonlights as a game script writer, planning to get his foot in the industry door.

Great story that kept me entranced with a huge amount of action in both worlds. Hints of something in the background. Technology is very realistic.

For an MC who is in his 30's he is quite immature. Taking people he doesn't trust on one of the most important quests, having a fixation on a women he just met who is engaged to the guy he hates, and Making stupid decisions and poor weapon choices.

Well if the above didn't happen i would have given it 5 stars, i gave 4 due to the story not being bad and well written.

Overall i felt frustrated during book 1 and 2 and not in a good way. I can't pinpoint why it irritates me with the way certain things happen, but it is part of the writing style i guess.

Enjoyed the book, but I really hate any quest related to gods, poor mc cant enjoy the game. He is always struggling with the damn quest.

Maybe it just doesn’t translate well. This is a genre full of talented writers and this not one I’d recommend.

I'm about halfway through the second book now. I'm not going to finish the book it turn the character into a whiny love sick person for some girl he hast ever really talked to. He calls the gf of a person he's a conflict with the girl of his dreams witch is just creepy. His actions don't make any sense in the book at least to me and I'm highly disappointed.

Rating is due to not finishing the story. At 46%, I gave up and returned the book through KU. The style is consistent with the standard Russian LitRPG translations. The story has a neat and novel concept. I just can't deal with some of the details. Specifically, the Main Character's personality started grating on me this novel and the whole romance thing just failed to be anything I could read.

Very easy to read book. The MC gets involved with several Clans, getting the worst of it. He also meets the very minor God of Luck & Fun. And to top it all off, he gets arrested by the Empire.
