Looking for Trouble: An MM Cowboy Daddy Romance Kindle Edition
No matter how many times he tries to clean up his act, drinking and fighting and picking pockets are about the only things that make him feel good. All he wants when he boards a train heading for Nevada is a fresh start. He just needs a little change, a little adventure, a chance to shake off the dark cloud he seems to be stuck under.
Will Kaplan isn't part of that plan. When the tall, handsome cowboy pulls him out of a jam five minutes after he steps off the train, Jesse's not sure if he's grateful or embarrassed. He's never met anyone like the quiet, no-nonsense stranger who offers him a temporary job and a place to stay.
Will's stern with lots of strict rules-- and threats of childish consequences that surely must be a bluff. But he's patient and fair like no one's ever been with him, and he makes Jesse crave things he's never thought about. Makes him want to cause trouble just to see what might happen. Will makes him want to do all kinds of things that he definitely shouldn't be thinking about.
Will Kaplan couldn't care less about people.
Everyone he's ever loved is gone, and he's perfectly happy on his farm with his animals and just enough to get by-- alone. He only heads into town when he has to, and sure never expected to come back home with a mouthy stranger who seems dead set on driving him crazy.
Will doesn't need a farmhand. He definitely doesn't need one who's stubborn and reckless and has an ugly temper. But something about the scowling, fiery outsider made him step in and save him from himself.
Just because Jesse is good company when he isn't being irritating, and nice to look at even when he is, it doesn't mean Will is interested in having another person in his life for more than a week or two. Excitement and disruption are not things he's fond of. Just like he's not fond of this sullen city boy who seems determined to cause trouble, almost like he's begging for a firm hand...
Looking for Trouble is historical western Daddy kink romance between a stern, reclusive cowboy and a rowdy, troublemaking stranger who don't realize they want the same things. It includes cozy forced proximity with lots of domestic scenes, a slow burn with epic tension and serious pining, a ten year age gap, spanking, first times, kink exploration, a woodshed, and an HEA.
"Horne takes the Daddy kink trope and drills deep (heh) into the psychology and desire that fuel the Daddy dynamic... As a friend of mine said, if you don't understand Daddy kink after reading this book, then I'll accept that it's truly not for you, because no one does it more sensitively than Horne." ~ Sierra Simone, USA Today Bestselling Author

- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2020It takes a special book to get me to write a review. This book. Man oh man. One of the hottest slow burns I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I nearly self-combusted before they even kissed. The writing is simply magical. Poetic, even. But so true to the time period and the characters as well. Everything about it was amazing. My only complaint is that there wasn't even MORE at the end. I could have used a few more chapters of them figuring out the ins and outs of the relationship once they take that step, though the epilogue was pretty satisfying in that regard.
Off I go to read everything else by this author, I'm hooked now!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2023I never thought I’d be into daddy kink, but more often than not, I find myself intrigued and finding more of them. There’s something about the communication and intimacy required to make such a relationship work that I love. And Misha Horne is able to write them so beautifully. This book was almost an ode to the Daddy/boy dynamic.
Jesse was a thief, stealing to survive, but getting in trouble more often than not. So he comes out west to start over and trouble finds him immediately after getting off the train. Will is a quiet man that “just had no use for people,” keeping to himself and coming into town only when necessary. But the moment he sees Jesse, his entire world shifts and he finds himself interested in someone for the first time. Their lives get entangled fast when Will comes to Jesse’s rescue.
Neither man knows why Will’s threats of punishment for Jesse’s brash behavior are such a turn on, but they both know they like it and start to push the boundaries little by little. It’s such a slow build up of learning how they each need that push/pull of sass and discipline. It’s also a struggle within each of them to admit to their sexuality at a time when such things were spoken of secretly and usually with great shame.
I loved how each character grew individually throughout the book, but more than that, how they both found such strength in each other when they finally allowed themselves to fully admit to and experience their true needs. The companionship and love between them was just splendid.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2025Musta Horne brings it! Cause, hot damn, this book is a slow sizzle drawing you into its mighty web!😏 Jesse is such a sassy brat looking and finding nothing but trouble! And the moment that Will sets his brooding eyes on Jesse it's game over.😋 This is such a well constructed world, you feel like you've been dropped into a dusty worn out town in Nevada. And these two very sexy men are vividly portrayed. Jesse with his tough bravado new to the West and Will with his stern, solid strength, grounded in his lonely life. Beautiful and inescapable!😘 I highly recommend falling back in time and tease yourself with this excruciatingly tender and sensual tale! Check your triggers! Kink is brilliant with these two!😉
- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2020What a great treat this book was. Unexpected, heart-felt and a great journey within the confines of a different type of love set against an historic background. The author did an excellent job creating the inner workings of men who had complex inner emotional and intellectual landscapes set against the old west. Highly recommend this read if you are looking for something slightly different in a love story and how love can grow where you least expect it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2024Well, this story was an incredibly long slow burn. I can’t say if the smolder was doused by a good rain or ignited into a raging forest fire, but it was an incredibly slow burn.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2020I loved this book. I have other books by this author and this is my favorite. I loved both Will and Jesse and thought they were perfect together.
I wrote this review once already and it disappeared on me so this one is not as detailed, as I want to get it submitted before it disappears too.
Some have complained about the length of the book and the internal dialogues of the MC's but, although I wished it would get to the sticking point sooner, I enjoyed the journey. Personally, I am getting tired of the intsa-love/lust in many of the books today and enjoyed getting to know each man through their thoughts. This was a time when even M/F relationships did not take off with the speed of light, let alone a M/M relationship even without the Daddy/ boy elements to consider.
Jesse needed a daddy to help him with his temper and unruly ways and Will needed a boy to care for, but neither man knew it when they met...they were just drawn to each other. I also really liked that this was a low angst book. Although both men thought what they wanted was wrong(more because they did not know the other man was gay) it did not degenerate into the self loathing dialogue that can be so wearying to read.
If you like M/M, Daddy/boy books I think you will really enjoy this book. Just be aware from the beginning that you are setting out on a lovely walk and not a race to the finish line(or first spanking/ love scene)
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2020A sweet and steamy story with compelling characters and an interesting premise set in the old west. I struggled with the slow pace and ended up skipping most of the middle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cowboy with kink
A rough simil-old West rambling narrative style, with two young men alone that are brought together by circumstances, and a gradual processing of their personal dynamics in a world far from anyone else. Their inexperience, the casual lingo, their interior and interpersonal dynamics all keep the reading experience light and fresh, yet strong and almost sweet.

5.0 out of 5 stars just perfect
I loved this MM historical romance so much. Jesse and Will’s romance got me in a chokehold and I will be thinking about them for weeks!
It’s a fairly slow burn with a light plot thread but just tons of relationship building and tension building and then when it finally bursts… 💥 🥵 🔥 WOW!!!
Misha Horne has never put a foot wrong in my book but this story was genuinely one of my favourite books of hers, and in my top ten favourite books ever as well I think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking for trouble
I love Will and Jesse. I cried for Jesse a lot and was over the moon that Will found him. Yes, this is a very kinky story but it is so deeply emotional....I couldn't put the book down. I love this author's stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth, Sexy, Slow-Burn
Emotional, moving, angsty slow-burn. But the language, the build-up, the development. So compelling. Jesse is a Misha Horne brat through and through. Will is the firm hand. The historical setting and the stoic nature of the 2 guys, the risk involved and the ultimate payoff when they realize how well they complement each other. This is a long book, and at moments I wished it wasn’t so drawn out but at the same time, it was delicious.
Unfortunately, there were a few places where there was dialogue but the “quotation marks” were missing! That’s the only complaint. I could read so much more about these guys. Or more books by Misha Horne, in this era. She did it so well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Love story
The characters were interesting and didn't feel like tropes. The writing was good enough to be immersive and not distracting.
