Andrew’s life has never been easy. And it seems to fall apart when his former wife, Antoinette, suddenly turns him out and makes life difficult for him. Now divorced and fighting for custody of his children, Andrew often finds himself wishing he had chosen a different path for himself. Like maybe a life with Jackson, his best friend’s younger brother. The attraction is there, and Andrew is sure Jackson wouldn’t say no. It’s not until he gets up the courage to ask that he finds out just how good they can be together.

As long as he can remember, Jackson has always had a crush on the tattooed biker. Even years living in another state didn’t dampen his feelings. The more time he spends with Andrew, the more Andrew turns to him as a confidant. Jackson wants more, and yet his loyalty to his brother’s friendship with Andrew stops him from taking the next step. Until Andrew turns their attraction up a notch, and Jackson realizes that there’s no hiding from the inevitable.

Everything I have read by David Horne has never left me wondering. I just wish this book was a little longer, but I did enjoy it. I love that they finally got it together. I would have like to know what happened between his friend and daughter.

Thank you for the ARC! I enjoyed this book, I felt for Andrew and the way that Antoinette treated him was really lousy! I am glad that he had the courage to realize that he could have another chance at real love if he could just step up and take it. I like the way Jackson decided that he was going to take the lead and make sure that things took off in the right direction. This was a really nice read. I'm usually one of those reviewers who give most books 4-5 stars. I'm fairly easy to please and dont usually gripe about editing. However, for me this book was just okay. The ideas were great but not fleshed out enough. And the romance was just... was barely there. I get they knew each other already and the feelings were already there. But when I read a romance I want some time with the couple. This story had a lot of time focused on other things and while that bit was interesting, I needed more romance. The story had so much potential and fell a little flat. I would definitely be interested in a reread if the author ever decided to revise and add to the story. It was an okay read but it needed more to be good or great. I definitely didnt hate it. So, I would reccomend it as long as the reader knows that it lacks in the romance department.

David. Can't go wrong with books written by this author. David nails it every time. He drives it home hard.

Author David Horne seems to have an endless stream of ideas for gay romance novels. The consistently high quality of his novels has brought him success in writing Gay Romances and he has gathered a solid following of readers. How does his growth as an author show? By his lack of fear in taking on themes that include the various forms of isolation, resonances of the past arising in the present with the concomitant confusion of emotional responses – both positive and negative, finding a path for his romantic leads to explore not only each other’s expectations but also the peripheral surprises that life deals us – and how we overcome them.

In this fine new novel David takes on gender identity recognition: previously straight men married and with offspring coming out to embrace their same sex proclivities and the complications that transition creates. His ability to establish both realms realistically is obvious in his opening: “Dad!” Andrew barely heard the shouting over the noise of the cement mixer. He turned and saw a teenaged girl with tightly braided hair standing just outside the barrier he had set up waving at him. Now that was a welcoming sight. Signaling for one of his men to take over the cement mixer, Andrew headed over, taking over his protective glasses. He grinned at the girl as she leaned over the barrier and hugged him. “Careful, Caitlyn! I’m covered in dust and God knows what.” His daughter laughed. “Come on, Dad! It brushes off. See?” She dusted down her shirt. “No harm done.” “Your mother would say otherwise.”
 Caitlyn rolled her eyes.
“I’m not telling her where I was, am I? I’m eighteen now.” Andrew was more than aware of it. Caitlyn had been talking about leaving and coming to live with him or get an apartment close by…’

The story – ‘Andrew’s life has never been easy. And it seems to fall apart when his former wife Antoinette suddenly turns him out and makes life difficult for him. Until Andrew turns their attraction up a notch, and Jackson realizes that there’s no hiding from the inevitable.’

David knows this terrain and shares it well. This is one fine little novel – a story that relates to everyone. Grady Harp, November 19
