    Violet is struggling with her magic, and her spells are going awry way to often. She is hard pressed to tell the difference her new Phoenix abilities and the annoying hot flashes that are way to frequent as far as she is concerned. She has been fighting her attraction Thannos, but when she finally agreed to dating him, he ends up losing his memories. I love these witches. They are Well written, compelling, and make you laugh. Fantastic book with magic, mayhem, paranormal creatures, mythical entities, and unexpected twists in the plot. I think this is a wonderful book, and series.

    I find the books in this series entertaining but it’s very hard to get into the story at first because it is written as though no time has passed since the reader finished the last page of previous book and I spend the first couple of chapters trying to remember the storyline and characters. I’ve probably read 5 or 6 books since I finished Trim’s last entry in series. I’ve never had this issue with other writers of the numerous series that I’ve read.

    Trim has brought us another fantastical installment in her wonderful series Midlife Witchery! The Backside of Forty just keeps getting stronger and sharper. While they haven't caught the Dark One yet, between Fiona as magic, Violet's witch dry and her Phoenix, and Ais with her Fae magic, the Dark One better run! I will give one tiny hint about this book: keep the tissues handy! I spent four chapters bawling my eyes out. I can't wait for book six, and I'll have my tissues at hand again.

    Continuing on from where the first book in this story arc, and fourth in series left off, we find the backside of forty coven still dealing with some evil beings in their English village.
    Trouble making imps and demons, seem hell-bent (pardon the pun) on making life difficult, and there is STILL a dark one at large.
    Violet is coming to terms with her Phoenix side, and there seems to be the opportunity for a little romance with Thanos too— until the dark one strikes again…

    This is an enjoyable midlife series, with older main characters, and a slightly caustic whit. The story is filled with all kinds of magical action, midlife worries, as well as an ongoing story that bridges both this series and the Mystical Midlife in Maine series (you will need to read the first two of that series before this book)- in fact we get a good look at the personality of the male main character from that series in this book!
    An enchanting trip into the Midlife Witchery world, that fans of the series and the author will enjoy.

    I always enjoy the stories Trim writes, but the editing is awful. Her dedication at the start of the book preceding this one basically said, I wrote it and I don't need anyone to correct my work. I beg to differ. A prolific author is much appreciated by a prolific reader, but if one can't take the time to be sure the manuscript is ready for publication, then one needs to slow down. Show some respect for your readers. Check your spelling, for goodness sake. Stop writing fragments and using 7th grade punctuation. Pay attention to factual details so you don't contradict yourself every 3 pages. Or, here's an idea, hire a good proofreader!
    These Midlife Paranormal stories are fun distractions from a serious life. I enjoy them. I'd enjoy them more, and give more stars in my reviews of Trim's work, if she just cared enough to tidy up.
