Lmfao!!!!! Reading this was like when I binge on true crime- it’s disturbing, sinister and makes no sense to me whatsoever, but it helped cure this seriously long book funk I’ve been in so thank you author!!!! I’ve been so curious to finally get my hands on the full story since last year after reading a few chapters in the Bully Me anthology. I’m definitely getting too old to be staying up all night to binge read a book about a girl hooking up with one or all of her ex-friends that are total a$$es and f@$&bois; that have a penchant for rough and humiliating sex acts that definitely blur the line on consent and respect for women. Even if they are the hottest thing in their super elite weird little cult like world I mean town that they of course are gonna inherit from their own daddies. But dang I enjoyed every bit.

At first I wished that we had a stronger heroine to root for. She seemed promising in the prologue and first few chapters and I was really curious to see how she would bring these seriously up-to-no- good boys to their knees. Unfortunately for Henley, her tormentors always read through her and where two steps ahead and I was like this poor girl truly never knew who her supposedly best friends were. They are seriously f@$&3d in the head. Have zero respect for young women and their well-being and love toying with Henley in the most twisted and demeaning ways. And unfortunately for me because I was hoping for a kick@$$ heroine, she craves the debauchery and depraved just as much as they crave to deal it out to her. In a way they were made for each other. Well, that’s what I thought in the beginning, but it’s so much more layered and nuanced than anything I could have prepared myself for. Henley is strong and truly caring and trusting. And that’s used against her throughout the entire story and when the truth of what really happened that fateful night during their summer break comes to the light, the ground beneath them crumbles and they all have serious consequences to atone for.

But it was incredibly disturbing to read how badly they wanted to hurt her in the beginning when revenge was their only agenda, because it pleases them and pleasures her? I didn’t get it, but I just went along with it. But I just thought ewww that she would let Scout’s member anywhere near here anatomy. He’s a major ho who was always getting back at her for giving her virginity to one of his best friends, but was he a virgin? That answer would be a resounding NO!!! The nerve of him and his stupid double standards. And don’t even get me started on his duplicity. Like wow!!! I didn’t see that coming. Which only makes her involvement with him even more hard to swallow. Law was a pleasure to get to know tho. And the only reason I kept reading was because of how much he truly loved Henley. He wanted to treasure her, rather than break her. Their connection was electrifying to say the least.

I loved all the POVs! It really added to the suspense. Like who is a reliable narrator and who is hiding behind their mask? Not all Reapers got equal POV time, ahem Rellick? Still not sure who he was and quite frankly I really want to find out. And of course I really hope Dax and Lacey get their own story too!!! The history of Death Valley and the Founders was interesting, but I definitely think it was not used to the fullest extent. Somethings were still just so ambiguous. Also for me there seemed to be a few inconsistencies with timelines and had me doing the math to keep it all together. But I was hooked and feel refreshed and ready to delve back in for more, lol!!!!

The twist and turns in this book will blow your mind! The beginning has you hooked because we know Henley is about to face her four ex best friends that she betrayed. & who doesn’t love them some hot alpha males. The ones who don’t take anyone’s crap.

As secrets start to come out; things begin to get intense. Just when you think you know something it twist to something else. It’s almost impossible to get one step ahead.

Get ready to be on the hook and mind blown. Once you start you won’t stop. Add to that you will be left speechless til the very end. I loved this book and every crazy ride. & that spice! Oh baby Shantel Tessier makes you fall in love with another one of her books once again.

My reaction after reading: Ummmmm what was that? And why did I like it?

Is this a trashy read? Definitely.
Is it a trashy read that is a good trashy read? Yes. If you wanted a guilty pleasure in the genre, this works.

Please note this is not for someone who likes only a mild bully romance. (It's not as intense as some, but is still pretty intense in parts.)There also are a lot of trigger warnings needed here. I was surprised my stomach was in knots at points of intensity here, which is a great sign for the writer. She had me hooked into the story and what was going on.

It got a lot soap opera-y in the last third, and every time you thought you hit a good end point you realized you still had quite a bit left o read and another section would start. I felt like I was reading a bunch of alternate endings that were pieced together.

I did like the characters. I appreciated who she focused on instead of doing it halfway with everyone being included. It worked well having small sections of the barely featured guys, but didn't add too much to them to throw the story off what it needed to focus on. I appreciated this as a reader. A lot of dark romances with a group try to be equal with every member, making everyone more shallow. This didn't do that. For example, when it was POV of Rellik it didn't try to add a background for him or force a persona for him on you, it just was him for a minute without adding too much explanation so the narrative could keep moving. This approach made it and the Reapers less cheesy than many groups in these books end up. (Half end up like a boy band- the bad boy, the ladies man, the rich one, the approachable-ish one...) Thanks for not doing that!

I remember the first few chapters in the bully me anthology. At that moment i was already sold, and very mad that it ended there. For months i’ve been guessing what would happen next. But my thoughts never went the way that the story did. Im still lost of words how good this book is! Many different pov’s, but it made the story so clear. Not messy at al, it was so chill to read.
Worth 10 stars, but sad enough only 5 are allowed... ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was such an addictive read, I could not put this book down. I just had to know what was going to happen and the ending was so good. Some parts were pretty unexpected, which was such a surprise and I adore being surprised in books. I love trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together and then once that one piece is put into place it’s like a light goes off and so much makes sense.

While I did enjoy this book overall, I found that I couldn’t put it down in the beginning and then the middle was pretty slow. It was still building on the tension and little things which start to make sense at the end. However, once there was a huge reveal I feel like we just hit the ground running and didn’t stop until the last page. Everything was broken down and I love that all of the little things that seemed so minuscule actually had an ulterior motive. Also, that small/big reveal with the fathers at the end… Just icing on the cake. It added a little bit more that we didn’t know we needed.

I don’t know how much of this I would actually called a bully romance. I guess it was but I feel like it was more of a suspense/mystery with some bully love on the side. Obviously there is a relationship but I feel like the mystery and events held my attention more. Possibly because the relationship wasn’t all consuming and worked well while everything was being exposed.

Overall I did enjoy this book. The ending was perfect and I feel like everything was wrapped up in a nice little bow.

Gleichzeitig unterscheidet die Autorin zwischen einer narzisstischen PS und BDSM, was tatsächlich eine Seltenheit ist. Mich persönlich störte teilweise die extreme Gewalt. Ich wollte abbrechen, muss aber sagen, da der Aufbau und das Ende der Geschichte tatsächlich sehr gut sind, bin ich froh es durchgelesen zu haben und auf gewisse weise ergibt die Story einen Sinn, was bei dark romance eine Seltenheit ist. Das außergewöhnliche an der Geschichte ist, dass ich nicht sagen kann, wer hier der Schuldige bzw Böse ist, denn alle haben Fehler gemacht und alle haben Gründe für ihre teils schrecklichen Taten. Ich habe das Buch 2 mal hintereinander gelesen, weil ich es so gut finde. Trotzdem bitte nur lesen, wenn man extreme Gewalt ertragen kann.
