Malek: An MM Shifter Mpreg Romance (Whitfell Brothers Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 912 ratings

Running from his problems might just lead Axel to his future.

Axel has done the stupidest thing ever. He kissed his straight best friend at the guy’s stag do and now he’s run away to the Lake District to lick his wounds.

All he wants, in fact, all he's ever wanted is a Prince of his own.

Who knew running would lead Axel straight to his very own fairytale? No really. His new mate, yeah, that’s a thing, lives in a magical valley and there’s a castle and he’s telling Axel it’s going to be the two of them forever.

Did Axel mention in this fairytale he can have babies and his mate turns into a wolf? Only it's not a fairytale, it's really happening.

Malek has travelled the world searching for his mate, and now he’s actually here, in Malek’s family’s forest. It’s turning out to be the best day of his life.

No angst, and lots of fluff.

Tags: Shifter wolves, fated mates, secret towns in the middle of a picturesque British city, lots of sweetness, mpreg, a teacher running away after kissing his straight best friend before his wedding, a wolf that can’t believe his luck, really the cuteness is downright cavity inducing, oh and having to explain to your new human mate he can suddenly have babies.

What a great start to a new series! Skye has created a wondrous world filled with intriguing characters. Wolf shifters, an intrepid man, Goddess sent mates, brothers galore, and a baby. Ya gotta love it!
This is Malak and Axel's story. Getting lost on a hike , Axel is at the end of his strength. Malek had let his wolf run free, drawn by the most marvelous scent. Right into Axel. Mate. Mine.
Their attraction is immediate, hot, soul- seeking, and forever. Axel is overwhelmed, but accepting; especially when he learns he is capable of becoming pregnant. Malek is overprotective, loving, and sexy as hell. You are pulled in to their lives as they learn about each other, love each other, conquer their fears, and find their true family. HEA is assured.
Is there sex? Oh yeah! Is there drama? No way. This is a feel good book from the get go. You won't want to put it down. I loved this book. Go. Get. This. Book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

Really glad I took a chance on it. Axel was a cute character, I loved his rambly style and malek was so sweet. There wasn't much to this book at all and I do wish there was SOMETHING in the way of angst. Very very fluffy. Kinda too fluffy honestly.

I really do love when urban fantasy romance books acknowledge that urban fantasy romance books are a thing, it's always so much fun. That said even though a character feeling the "insta-love" is familiar with the concept due to "reading about it" in fantasy books it came across as too easy.

Realistically (I know, I know) there is no way a guy who was close enough to his family to live with them all in his mother's house for 27 years would be able to avoid contact with them in the 4 months it took to have a baby. Texts and calls would never be enough in those circumstances. I get that the author is setting up the plots to merge these two families but still...

Again and I can seem to stress this enough, there is almost NOTHING to this plotline except fluff and some steamy sex scenes. It's satisfying though, and the characters (though they were very loose) were interesting enough to make me want to read the next in the series.

So this is an insta-love, shifter, mpreg story. I'm ok with sped up love connections in the fated mates setting. I did find this book's pacing weird and the author spent a lot of time describing buildings and with the redundant inner monologues of the main characters rather than having actual interactions between the two that weren't sex. Not sure about continuing on with the series. I did like that the book was zero angst though!

This is a sweet fluffy little book about fated mates, wolves, and HEAs. Also babies! Alex is trying to escape from the mess of his life when his best friend, well former best friend gets married and discovers an entire little picturesque village in the Lake District habituated by shifter wolves. He gets multiple happy shocks all at once when he is met by Malachi. A nice little escape of a book.

4 stars because it is what it is and doesn't pretend to be anything else. A quick and adorable read. Not a ton of character development or a huge plot. Just a fated mate meet cute.

I still have the pet peave where the human isn't turned into a shifter also when bitten. His biological body was changed to have babies, which is not a full omega. This also seemed rushed at the end. I loved the storyline very much.

I liked this story and will definitely be reading more in this series, as it comes out. There were two things about this book that made me choose to rate it as low as I did. First, I would have liked Axel to have maybe had a little less insta-love acceptance of absolutely everything. Second, the editing in this book got progressively worse. At first I just figured that the missing articles/words were simply Britishisms that I hadn't come across before, but then it just became more and more prevalent until they were clearly just typos.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Read.

I selected this book from the suggestions on Kindle Unlimited.
I've got to admit that I fully enjoyed the novel. As soon as I started to read this story I was hooked. The novels' pace and cadence are on point.
My only gripe is having Alex Mancunian. Having Alex and his brother use Mancunian slang came across a bit of a parody.
But, that gripe aside, this has been one of the best books that I have read in ages. I just hope that the following books in the series are of such high standards as this book.

As other reviews have mentioned I did find that the story waffled a fair bit, particularly in the first third of the book, but overall I enjoyed it.
A nice, uncomplicated little insta-love story and I appreciated that the human character felt a connection immediately even if he didn’t understand what was going on.
The story did seem to rush through, skip over a bit at the end but I liked it enough to be interested in reading the sequel.
