Mark of the Djinn: A Fantasy Romance Kindle Edition
Samira doesn’t know why she can manipulate the air around her. It’s just something she can do. And it makes picking pockets a breeze. Literally.
Snarky and irreverent, Sam doesn’t give much of a damn for anyone except her next rich target. But then she runs into trouble, the serious kind, and has to be rescued by a charming prince, no less. Wealthy and attractive, he's just her type. Except for one thing: he has an insufferable older brother who sees right through her.
Dhav doesn’t like Sam in the least, and he certainly doesn’t trust her. And that’s even before the nightmare begins.
Sam discovers her power comes from a source as old as the desert; an ancient magical race of djinn which have long since vanished. But a dark enemy from Dhav’s past is determined to resurrect their power and harness it for himself. If he does, he’ll be unstoppable.
Thief and prince are forced to work together to prevent evil from rising. The only question is, can Sam bear to be so close to a man who thinks she’s nothing but trouble?
Prince of Persia meets Indiana Jones in an enemies-to-lovers fantasy adventure inspired by Aladdin and the Arabian Nights. A standalone tale with action, romance, and a happy-ever-after.
Suitable for adults young and old.

“Plenty of action and adventure, twists and turns, and a little enemy to lovers romance.”
“This book is a mishmash of several fairy tales told by the heroine from a modern viewpoint. It just kept getting better and better right up to the HEA.”

About the author

I'm a journalist by trade, and I've worked for some of the biggest names in news - BBC, ITN, Al Jazeera. Now I split my time between reporting world events and writing fiction. I'm the author of several fantasy and paranormal books for young adults. My first series, Daughter of Kali, is an urban fantasy trilogy which borrows heavily from one of my favourite Hindu myths, that of the Goddess Kali and her battle with demons. My other books feature genies and mermaids! Visit my website shiulieghosh.com/author to download a free story and sign up to my newsletter.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2021I fell in love with the book almost out of an Aladdin tale but instead a female thief with djinn ancestry and a prince who go on a journey and discover more than what it means for them along the way i hope to see a prequel about her grandmother that would be truly amazing cause then we can see from her point of view along with the princes descendant saving her too and her trapping al uddin
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2020This book is a mishmash of several fairytales told by the herione from a modern viewpoint. It just kept getting better and better right up to the HEA. A clean romantic fantasy that may be meant for the YA reader but this 68-year old loved it!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2020Our heroine can control air, but doesn't know why. All she knows is that she can make a living this way, until she gets caught. Then things get a little more complicated.
This is an urban fantasy story with a Arabian Nights style setting. The story is well written and easy to read. The setting is also nicely detailed, but not nearly so much as the characters. I love our heroine who is very savvy, used to doing things on her own. She has a hard time teaming up with our hero, but needs must as they say. The plot is fast paced and filled with enough twists and turns to keep you turning the page to see what comes next. Overall, an excellent story and I have a new author to explore.
Highly recommended.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2021Mark of the Djinn: An Urban Fantasy Romance Adventure is the first book in the Mark of the Djinn Series. This novel is an exciting mixture of various fairytales told from the 20th Century point of view. This is the first novel I have read by Shiulie Ghosh. I found her to be gifted and quite talented. This is a brilliant read! At times hilarious. It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention. The world building is detailed and imaginative. This novel has strong, well developed characters and an interesting story line that keeps you turning the pages. I recommend this novel and would read more novels by this author. I gave this honest, voluntary review after being given a free copy of the novel.
