- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2014Do you know Mason Kade? I mean really know Mason Kade. You might think so, but you don’t completely know Mason until you read this book.
Mason is a whole lot of Hot. He can have anyone he wants and do anything he wants. He answers to no one. He’s loyal to Logan, Sam and the few friends he lets in his circle of trust. He has no problems settling a score or putting people in their place. He’s not nice when he comes at you. It’s dark, yet tantalizing.
This book is revealing. It takes apart the layers of Mason so the reader understands him better. It also shines some light on Logan. We get more detail about the events that shaped the present. It’s a well written book that leaves no questions unanswered. After reading it I felt that I had pieces to a puzzle that I could now use to complete the picture. I just had to go back and read Fallen Crest High, Fallen Crest Family, and Fallen Crest Public.
I’ve said it before, there is a dark quality to what some of the characters do and say, but that just makes it all the more delectable. It’s an intense story that gets better with each book. It’s not over yet. I’m salivating for more. More Logan, More Mason, and More revelations.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2017If you have never read any book by Tijan, I highly recommend this author! Her books are highly addictive, be prepared to not move and/or get anything done because you will want to finish it in one sitting, and you will have a new book boyfriend or two! This book is told in Mason's POV, but it starts a couple years before book 1. It ends where book 1 starts, but that is in Sam's POV. I decided to reread the series and this book was not out originally, but I'm so glad it was written! We get to see how everything came to be, more on the parents of a few characters, and more on characters in general. So if you're a fan and have read a few or most of the series, this is fun and gives you more information! It doesn't give spoilers, it is a prequel, or that's how I'm classifying it. Plus, who doesn't love more of the Kade's? Is your book boyfriend Mason Kade, Logan Kade, or someone else? Have fun reading!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2017I have been so hesitant to read this book that I put it off for over a year. I love Mason, but only the Mason I know with Sam. Of course, I know he wasn't a saint before falling for her, but I didn't want any more details. However, I was in need of a Tijan fix, so I went against my better judgement and read Mason. I loved/hated it. I love Tijan. I love the Fallen Crest series. I hate Mason sleeping around. I have a misguided sense of loyalty to Sam and feel like he's cheating on her. It's ridiculous since they haven't met yet when he's sleeping his way through the female population, but that's how I feel.
This is a good addition to the series. It covers their early high school years including the end of their parent's marriage. It's the period right before they completely rule Fallen Crest. The beginning of the Legend's, so to speak. It provides more insight into Mason, Logan, and even Nate. I like getting the full story of how Mason and Logan came to be as strongly united as they are. Their family life sucked. It wasn't as bad as many have it growing up, but still, it was bad enough to damage both of them. Both parents disgust me. I love Mason's protectiveness towards Logan and Logan's hero worship of his older brother. My heart broke for both of them at times. I also really enjoyed getting to know Nate better. I never really understood how the bond was so strong between him and Mason before seeing what a good friend he was before being sent off. I hate Kate even more than I did originally after reading this book. Didn't think that was possible! Not a fan of Tate's either. My opinion of the FC girls didn't improve with more back story.
I loved seeing the first contact between Mason and Sam in the Quickie's parking lot, but I was disappointed that the book ended right then. A companion novel to the first book, to see everything from Mason's view would be wonderful! I can't get enough of these two. This was a good Tijan fix, but I really need the next FC books to be released!!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2014If I could give Mason more than 5 stars I would. I loved reading and learning what made Mason Kade who he is. Along the way, I think I fell in love with him more. If that was even possible. With this being a prequel to all the Fallen Crest books you get to read the actual accounts of things that happened to Mason and his younger brother Logan. You have gotten glimpses or read parts of the stories in Fallen Crest High, Fallen Crest Family and Fallen a Crest Public. You will finally realize that Mason and Logan had a very privileged but very sad youth. Things weren't always as they would seem in the Kade household. You get to see why Mason loves Logan so fiercely and why he's so protective of him. One of my favorite parts of Mason is you finally get the full story on what actually went down between Logan, Mason and Tate. I absolutely loved Mason. It warmed my heart getting to know Mason through his pov. I feel like I have a better understanding for him, which only makes me love this whole series even more. Tijan is an amazing author, I love all her books. I have read and reread pretty much all of them. I can't wait for the releases of her future books. Thank you for writing such an amazing book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prequel to one of my favorite series
“Mason” is the prequel of “Fallen Crest High” and starts two years before the first book. Readers who read Tijan's “Fallen Crest” series know the course of the story but experience Mason's side of the story firsthand. He describes the end of his parents' marriage, their divorce and the starting relationship between his father and Sam's mother. His story specifies his dysfunctional connection with Kate, his friendship with Marissa and Tate's betrayal. Even for hardcore fans of Tijan's stories - I know some who reread the series over and over again - the book is a great pastime. We get an amazing insight in Mason's personality, loyalties, thoughts and feelings.
I'm not sure if new readers should start with the prequel or with “Fallen Crest High”. I thought about it and I can't decide. I'm glad I read the series before the prequel and didn’t know everything about Mason's and Logan's past but I read the prequel and wanted immediately reread the series. I think it doesn’t matter if new readers start with the prequel or read the series in the order of publication. I just hope Tijan will decide to rewrite “Fallen Crest High” in Mason's narrative. I really enjoyed the other perspective of the story.
Tijan is one of my favorite authors and I love her work. Of course it isn’t something new but it made my day and sweetened the waiting time for “Fallen Fourth Down”. I want to know how the story will continue!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! Loved it
Mason comes from a broken home. He watched it fall apart. He is so angry. He speaks his mind even if it hurts. He is hot strong and broken. This prequel was a great lead into the series! Loved it

5.0 out of 5 stars A-ma-zing!!!
I've read all of Tijan's novel but the fallen crest series has always stolen my heart since the very first page. Mason is the freaking alpha male that captivates you and makes you want to melt to the floor in a puddle. He's hot (duh), intense and very protective. Having a book dedicated to him was just so moving and wow. Just WOW. I can't fault anything. Tijan is an excellent writer, transforming words on a page into a beautiful, powerful masterpiece! So glad I had a chance to read this book and I'm sure I'll be rereading it in the future - just like I've revisited Sam and Mason's so many times before.....
Now I just have to remember to breathe until I get more Mason in Fallen Fourth Down; wish me luck, I'm going to need it ;) ~ Emilymae Darby

5.0 out of 5 stars Tijaned again
2 words: Loved it!!
I loved getting a further insight into Mason and Logan and how they became who they are.
Loved seeing further into their relationship with each other, and reading more about their childhood.
This book made me love Mason, Logan and Nate even more; but made me hate Kate, James, Annalise, Tate and even Helen even more.
SPOILERS ahead!
I loved getting to finally read more about the Logan/Tate/Mason scene, and am twice as glad Tate is finally out of the picture for Logan.
Was really interesting seeing just how much of a douche James was and how horrible of a parent he is, but I also don't think Logan and Mason would be as a close if this wasn't the case.
I know boys don't always think things through, but this book made me question even more why Mason kept things going with Kate for so long, especially when she bullied Marissa. He had girls like Jenny who seemed fine to leave things casual, so not sure whey he kept going back to Kate when he know how crazy she was and he kept giving her more power by doing so.
I also enjoyed reading more about their relationship with their mother, and confirming the fact that they've never really respected a female in their lives before.
Would love more novella's in Mason's point of view from after he met Sam, and maybe one from Logan's point of view - as long as it confirms he isn't *in* love with Sam, and only loves her like family.
Cannot wait for Fallen Fourth Down!!!
