Do you ever feel as though you’re sleepwalking through life? Awake, but not fully conscious? Surviving, but not thriving?
So many of us have built ourselves cocoons that, while comfortable, limit us from living fully. Cocoons can be either a form of confinement or, as nature shows us, an incubator for transformation. In
Metamorphosis, Sara Madderson lays out a two-part framework for making changes in our lives that will bring us greater joy, consciousness and wonder, and that will elevate both our human relationships and our perceptions of the world around us.
Part I focuses on the metamorphosis process itself, providing six steps to shrug off our cocoon and awaken to our own limitlessness. Part II is devoted to navigating our external world, and helping us to understand exactly what we want in life. When we invest in our own transformation, and we transform our perceptions of the world around us, then we can emerge from our cocoon and truly embrace our own magnificence.

In this book, you will learn:

why we build cocoons for ourselves, and how to use our cocoons as incubators for growth and transformation
  • the 10 faces of unconsciousness and their nemeses: the 10 faces of consciousnesswhat taking responsibility really means, and why it is the single biggest step in any transformational process
  • why self-discipline is the key to metamorphosis, and how to turbo-charge your motivations to make it easy to make the changes that you want to make
  • how to upgrade the inputs that you feed into your brain to gain clarity, peace and wisdom
  • what steps to take to transform your health so you have the energy that you need for this journey
  • how to call out the unconscious limiting beliefs that we all accrue over time, and what it feels like to discover your real limitlessness
  • why our lives are far better than we think, and how to instantly transform our reality by upgrading our perception of it
  • why we need human connection, why we so often mess it up, and how to elevate our human relationships
  • how to identify what we really want, and don’t want, from our lives
  • the empowerment that comes when we reframe ‘luck’ and take control of our destiny
  • clarity around the law of attraction, and the most effective manifestation techniques

By the end of this book you will be transformed, viewing life from the liberated perspective of the butterfly while knowing that your cocoon is there for you whenever you need to recharge and regenerate on your lifelong journey.

I like to change things up! I spent my 20s as a banker and my 30s bringing up small children and running my own fashion brand (Madderson London).

Now, aged 42, I find myself writing, and I wonder why I didn’t do it sooner.

I’ve always loved writing. My daughter Tilly has an old notebook of mine filled with half-finished stories and accompanying drawings. I’ve read for as long as I can remember, guzzling up books so quickly that my mum always protested that I couldn’t be reading them properly. You can see my original, dog-eared version of A Little Princess in my photo. Its protagonist, Sara Crewe, is one of my all-time favourite heroines (alongside Anne Shirley, naturally).

I published my first book, Metamorphosis, in February 2020, right before lockdown happened. It’s a non-fiction book about escaping from our cocoons and living as a butterfly. As lockdown progressed, I found escapism in devouring lots of delicious chick-lit (for want of a better title) and I realised I had a few novels in me too. The results are Food for Thought and Parents and Teachers, and I have loved every single minute of writing them. I’d like to thank my puppy, Charlie, for waking me at dawn every morning—it turns out that when you’re a parent in lockdown, those early mornings represent precious creative time.

I’ve published my books independently, and I love the freedom it provides. The world of independent publishing is fascinating and so empowering—I’m delighted to share more of my experiences of self-publishing if you’re interested.

As a 20-something investment professional, brand new to the City of London, I was fortunate to get Sara assigned as my mentor at the firm we both used to work for. Not only did she always provide me great career advice, she was also there for me whenever I consulted her regarding problems in my private life.

That we were paired-up as mentor and mentee was a very happy synchronicity, as our paths and personalities bear surprising similarities. I’ve always viewed Sara — perhaps unbeknownst to her — like the big sister I never had. Someone I could turn to for spot-on words of wisdom. So it’s with great joy that I’m now able to read and re-read at leisure her nonfiction book “Metamorphosis”, which distills her worldview and best lifestyle tools in a such a practical and straightforward manner.

If, like Sara and I, you abhor mediocrity, want to grow into the finest version of yourself, and are committed to creating your best life, then this book is for you!

Well researched, beautifully written, and effectively structured, this is a great manual for living that I’ll be referring back to again and again.

This is so easy to read, it's as though she is talking to you. Such important matters are covered in such a really friendly and understandable way that they stay in the mind. The fact that she is writing from real experience means a lot, and it is a book one can dip into at any point. Thank you for publishing this.

A fantastic read which is thought provoking and so wise, incredibly well written and easy to follow Sara is a skilled author who makes you think and act now. It’s so unusual for a book to change the way you think about life by the time you have finished it.
