About the authors
I’m an actor and director at a small theatre a few miles from where I live in the county of Yorkshire in the UK. I did work as a project and business change manager – very pressured and very demanding – but I managed to escape and now I write books.
I’ve always loved stories and story telling so it seemed a natural progression, to me, to try my hand at writing and I started with short stories. My first published story was included in an anthology, which was put together by the magazine ‘Ireland’s Own’ in 2011. I also contribute to the Miss Moonshine anthologies of feel-good stories.
I particularly enjoy the challenge of plotting and planning different genres of work. My short stories vary between contemporary romance, memoir, mystery and historical. I also write comic flash-fiction and have drafted two one-act plays that have been recorded for local radio.
My full-length stories are set in France where I like to spend as much time as possible each year. Currently, I'm working on the follow-up stories in my Jacques Forêt series of novels and I continue to write my blog every week where you can find lots of info about France, books, book reviews and author interviews.
MELINDA HAMMOND was born in the West Country and grew up with a love of reading and history. Since her first book was published in 1983, she has written and published over 50 novels, writing both as Melinda Hammond and Sarah Mallory. She won the Singletitles.com Reviewers' Award in 2005 for Dance for a Diamond and her novel Gentlemen in Question was a Historical Novel Society Editors' Choice in 2006 and won the Rona Rose Award from the Romantic Novelists Association in 2012 and 2013
Mary Jayne Baker is an award-winning author of romantic comedies. She grew up in rural West Yorkshire, right in the heart of Brontë country… and she's still there. After graduating from Durham University with a degree in English Literature, she dallied with living in cities including London, Nottingham and Cambridge, but eventually came back with her own romantic hero in tow to her beloved Dales, where she first started telling stories about heroines with flaws and the men who love them.
Mary Jayne also writes cosy mysteries as Penny Blackwell, contemporary women's fiction as Lisa Swift and World War II sagas as Gracie Taylor and Betty Firth.
Originally from Lyon in France, Marie has lived in the Rossendale Valley in Lancashire for the past few years. She writes both contemporary and historical romance. Her novels include best selling contemporary romantic suspense novels LITTLE PINK TAXI and ESCAPE TO THE LITTLE CHATEAU, which was shortlisted for the 2021 RNA Jackie Collins Romantic Suspense Awards, as well as A PARIS FAIRY TALE and BLUEBELL'S CHRISTMAS MAGIC. Her historical novels are full of romance and adventure and are set in France, Scotland and North Africa. HAPPY DREAMS AT MERMAID COVE is her latest contemporary romance. Marie also contributes to the best selling Miss Moonshine's Emporium anthologies together with eight author friends from Authors on the Edge.
Sophie Claire writes uplifting emotional stories with their heart in Provence, where she spent her childhood summers. She is half French, half Scottish, was born in Africa and, growing up in England, she felt she didn’t belong anywhere – except in the pages of a book. Perhaps this is why she likes to help her characters find their home; a place in the world where they can be loved for themselves.
Previously, she worked in Marketing and proofreading academic papers, but writing is what she always considered her ‘real job’ and now she’s delighted to spend her days dreaming up stories that will transport her readers to a beautiful place, and leave them with the warm glow of a sun-filled holiday.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2022I have loved each book, and each story, about Miss Moonshine, her wonderful emporium and Napoleon. They are a lovely reminder that we touch more lives than we can ever understand with outcomes we never could fathom, and a nice dress often begs for army boots and an eclectic hat.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2021This was a charming romance anthology that takes place in and around a small town in England. Like most anthologies, I wanted to know more about the world I was reading about. I could read an entire series about Miss Moonshine alone- she’s definitely a character I’d love to meet in real life. Greymoor Hall was my favorite story out, though I enjoyed reading them all. My only critique is that I felt some of the romances felt a bit rushed at the end of the stories, but to be fair, I almost always feel like short stories are too short. That being said, this was a fun and light read, and I look forward to reading other anthologies in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2021Due to the recent death of my mom, I have been very depressed. But finding and reading this series has been a life saver for me. The stories were so charming and uplifting that I couldn't help but feel better! I wish there were more stories to read about Miss Moonshiners Emporium.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2022I loved this anthology just as much as the first two books in this series. It’s an absolutely perfect book for summer!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2021What happens when a group of mega talented authors creates a community populated by characters their readers can't help but fall in love with? Then each of those authors presents a challenge or situation to select characters. There are also fantastic animals present in the stories.
The uniting factor throughout the books is the power of love and an ubiquitous, endearing woman of indeterminate age, Miss Moonshine.
She runs a shop of many wonders and treasures, that sometimes seems to have a personality of its own. It always seems to have whatever is required even before the townsfolk know they need anything.
Love in all forms lives on these pages. Romance and second chances and unfulfilled dreams all come to the surface. There is a bit of paranormal or magical influence, but mainly it is about discovering what is truly in one's own heart.
I hope I get another chance to visit Haven Bridge soon.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2021I thoroughly enjoyed reading this anthology of stories, based on Miss Moonshine and her wonderful emporium. I was familiar with some of the authors already, some were new to me, but all of these stories were full of warmth, quirkiness, poignancy at times - all the feels, in other words!
Miss Moonshine is the owner of the emporium, and a very mysterious woman indeed. No-one knows how old she is, and somehow magic happens via her shop. On the surface, her shop is just a bric-a-brac shop, full of things that aren't worth very much, but somehow the people who buy from her get what they need, rather than just what they want.
Wonderfully warm stories, just right for anytime reading.
5 stars from me.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2021I highly recommend Midsummer Magic at Miss Moonshine's Emporium! Each and every one of the stories are so uplifting and refreshing, as are the previous Miss Moonshine's Emporium of Happy Endings and Christmas at Miss Moonshine's Emporium. Hopefully, there will be more of Miss Moonshine to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Enjoyable and Uplifting Anthology
I thoroughly enjoyed this anthology of stories by nine romantic novelists from Yorkshire and Lancashire, which had a mix of genres, but were all uplifting and feel good stories. Each story whether, set in the present day, or it had a mystical element to it, or was a historical tale, they all had plenty of romance. The whole anthology was an enjoyable and engaging read and offered me a perfect escape this summer. Each story is set in Haven Bridge, during the summer and centres around, Miss Moonshine who runs the, ‘Wonderful Emporium’ which is at the heart of the picturesque Yorkshire town. Miss Moonshine keeps an eye on everything and everyone from the window of her shop and always has a plan to bring happiness to anyone who enters. Although, she may not always have what you want, she will always have what you need! I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading these short stories, and the anthology really does have a story for everyone. I laughed and cried but was always left with a HEA and a feeling of happiness, just like those who visit Miss Moonshine’s Wonderful Emporium. A lovely read and one which I recommend.

I simply adore all the stories of Miss Moonshine, a truly unique little lady that always knows exactly what someone desires before they even know themselves. Very moving and heart warming. Highly recommended. I love the writing of many of these authors all were checking out too.
