Mission Primal (Men of the Pack Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 143 ratings

Adam hates his life.

Feeling trapped in a backwater Texas town, all he dreams of is escape. With only a few short months of high school remaining, Adam can almost taste his burgeoning freedom. He has big plans for his future, none of which include falling in love.

Besides, Adam’s got too much baggage to trust anyone with his heart.

Ben's got a job to do and he can't afford to screw it up.

His first away mission should be a no-brainer for the werewolf shifter. When Ben figures out his human target is actually his fated mate, however, he’s more than a little conflicted. If Ben had his way, Adam would be riding on the back of his motorcycle forever. Unfortunately, Ben’s alpha has plans of his own for the human and is anxious to claim his prize.

A loyal soldier for his pack, Ben soon finds himself at a crossroads. Should he honor his alpha by completing his mission or protect Adam against the forces fighting to tear his mate apart? A near-death experience may make the choice for him.

Mission Primal is an MM paranormal romance novel and the first in the Men of the Pack series. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone, even though they are best enjoyed in order. Due to the explicit nature of some scenes, this book is not intended for readers under 18.

Parker lives in the (sometimes) great state of Texas with her husband and four children, one of them suspiciously furry and four-legged. Since then she has published three additional novels in the Men of the Pack series -- Primal Wish, Primal Paradox, and Primal Balance. When she isn’t writing or being Mom, Parker can be found masquerading as a mild-mannered healthcare professional.

Great intro to this author. Loved the dynamic between the main characters. Adam for his overall looking on the bright side of things even though his life was in shambles. And Ben with his protect and provide. They made for an interesting read. Now off to Book Two a Werewolf and a Genie, who would have guessed.

Over all the book was enjoyable to read. The plot and characters were good. TRIGGERS BE WARE...,physical abuse.
It did have some flaws in the writing and or story but not so bad to deter from the things happening.
Again... was a good story and will be moving forward with more in the series.

Ben and Adam's story pulls you in and wrings every emotion it can out of you. You will experience laughter, sorrow, anger, and joy. Warning there are possible triggers, physical abuse, and bullying. Ben and Adam journey is sweet, with mild heat, and PG sex scene. Highly recommend. Happy Reading!!

I really liked this book and I don’t usually read Shifter books at all!
I felt like the suspense, the parts that Ben and Adam didn’t know about why the Alpha wanted Ben to bring Adam back where really good. It's sometimes better to now explain and not be aware of things until it's concluded at the end. I also like the fact there weren’t a lot of explanation about the shifters, wolfs and bonding. It made it natural and helped the world be more believable then it would have been if the author had tried to make complex rules and reasons for things. I did feel like them being gay and together was portrayed well but the physical part happened too fast, or should I say, too easy. I would have liked them to be unsure how to go about it, stumbling a bit at first, as is normal for two guys who, up to this point identified as strait.
Also the part about Adam's father, this felt very flat and under developed. Like it was decided that he is extremely abusive and hates his son and that's it. There was no reason, or logic, to his behavior and to me it felt cliché in a way.
All in all I liked the book, there is no bug drama, and it's a fun sexy book.

I am generally not a huge fan of shifter novels as I really glutted myself on them years earlier, but I liked the way this one sounded and am so glad I took the chance to contact the author, Parker Skye. I offered to read and review honestly and I was gifted my own copy in order to do so.
And, not surprisingly, I ended up falling in love with young Adam and Ben. Their story was so enjoyable to read and follow that I sat down to read a bit and ended up finishing the book in one sitting!! This author created very lovable characters, both MC and supporting. They were all well written and fully fleshed out, making me hope very fervently, for all of them to get their own story!
Part of the book made me SO much more happy to be reading it but I cannot explain as it would spoil the story. Take a moment, buy the book and take a seat with a favorite drink and snack. You will need both if you are anything like me.....all in one sitting, remember?
    I simply loved it!
