    So many books have been hit or miss for me lately, so I'm pleased that this one is a hit! The kink was integral to the story, and everything played out perfectly (I loved how easily RJ read Aaron - especially when Aaron was teasing or being bratty on purpose). I liked it that Aaron's mother never had some wonderful epiphany that instantly negated how controlling and obnoxious she was through the rest of the book. I know this is a romance, but a little realism never hurts! Aaron's dad was wonderful; I loved how supportive he was of anything that would make Aaron truly happy. I enjoyed RJ bonding with Carter over how cute Aaron is. I'm going to reread this one, and I'll really look forward to taking this journey with Aaron and RJ again.

    Okay, it started off slowly and between chapter one and two it took me about a week or so to get into the story. Life just got in the way, but once I had sorted some stuff out my priorities were easy. I continued reading and got right into the story. Aaron is a teacher, in the closet or so he thinks, and only has hook-ups. RJ is a guitarist and singer, who gets hired to play with different bands as support. He's travelled the world. It turns out that both know each other from when Aaron was RJ's teacher. Years ago. Both agree to a night of meaningless sex, but as we all know, things happen and they see each other again and again.
    It was an amazing read, watching both men struggle with their feelings, seeing them interact with each other's families, growing to accept their emotional growth and fall for each other. Their relationship is laced with a touch of BDSM, role play and just plain insecurities. It was interesting to see that two men from slightly different backgrounds can work on their relationship without losing their integrity, growing a backbone and solving their issues with their relations. The dynamic of Aaron and his mother is quite an abusive one, as Aaron has been submitting to her demands all his life. He shys away from confrontation with her, but when she accuses him of flirting with the father of one of his students, he realises that nothing will ever be good enough for her. He can't change who he is and he's tired of pretending otherwise. RJ has his own family issues. While he travelled the world his mom married a second time. Doug, his stepfather, brings a son into the marriage and they both have two young kids together. RJ is home for Christmas but feels like an outsider. So the story gains intensity due to some really great sub plots, supporting characters who are fleshed out and have depth and an emotional roller coaster for the main character.
    So if you started to read this book, stick to it, keep reading. It gets better and better.

One problem I sometimes have with books that have a BDSM element is that too often it feels unbalanced or disrespectful. This book was neither.     Although this is a longer book, it reads quickly. I did not want to put it down. The characters drew me in to their lives. I really cared about them. You will too.
    This is RJ and Aaron's story. Aaron Danvers is a teacher. Not hiding his gayness in his personal life. His professional life is another story.     Yes. Steamy and hot. Lots of spanking in case that’s not your thing (or maybe it is). But this book was more than that. It had depth and maturity and acceptance at its heart. These were not flat 2D characters. They both had interesting backgrounds that contributed to the story, as did the side characters. The story moved along well with minimal angst. Loved the way the relationship evolved between the the mc’s.

    I couldn’t stop reading, it demands your attention from the start. Usually bdsm is a turn off for me, but it’s part of the story and doesn’t spoil it, and there are many tender moments that make up for the pain. Both Aaron and RJ needed each other, they quickly realised how much, luckily. And it’s true that a couple that have been together decades were strangers once, everyone has to start somewhere. So despite them predicting relationship failure, they were doomed to success from the start.

I loved the way they slowly allowed themselves to let the masks slip,to show their insecurities to each other.     This is defintely a nice, deliciciously naughty christmas story with a good sprinkle of kink added.

    I loved the chemistry and the openness betweeen Aaron and RJ, it made reading a real joy.
    I damit, I didn't get the problem of the pupil/teacher conflict, but I'm European and the moment a pupil leaves school there is no conflict potential for me.

    Also - a few topics have been grazed but never explored like RJ's former relationsships and his mom's failures. Well, at least she tried now in contrast to Aaron's.

    Well, all in all this is a great book, very entertaining, with a good amount of spanking (so if that is not something you feel comfortable about, don't read it but if you want to see a guy getting his butt spanked until he just can't stay buttoned up, enjoy).

    For me 4,5 stars.

    Women write fabulous m/m fiction and Leta Blake is no exception. This is the first Christmas story I've ever read that features BDSM, which while I'm not into it, I'm always fascinated by the practice when it's part of a book I'm reading. I hate the generic covers that are used for a lot of queer books because I feel they devalue the work that's gone into creating what is most-often a brilliant story. Needless to say I love the version on the left. This one has great characters and setting. Highly recommended.
