About the Author

The minute she began her love affair with reading, Ella became an avid supporter of the romance genre and has never looked back.
Ella is Australian born and bred but currently resides in Houston, Texas with her husband.

You could say Brooke Blaine was a book-a-holic from the time she knew how to read; she used to tell her mother that curling up with one at 4 a.m. before elementary school was her ‘quiet time.’ Not much has changed except for the espresso I.V. pump she now carries around and the size of her onesie pajamas.

She is the author of Flash Point, a romantic suspense standalone, as well as the co-author of the erotic series, A Desperate Man, with Ella Frank. The latter has scarred her conservative southern family for life, bless their hearts.

I'm going to keep this review a bit more focused to this book since I think I covered the high level stuff in my review of book 1. As a reminder, this is a series and cannot be read out of order or as a stand alone.

This was a great continuation of the story from book one. It starts right where book 1 left off, so the story keeps you at the edge of your seat. You get to see a new side to Panther that really makes you love him even more if that's possible. This is the book where you really experience how these two come together and what they want for and from each other. It comes together in such a way where you are rooting for them but experiencing a bit of angst for the reality that they face. The choices that have to be made are enormous for them personally and professionally. The book does a really good job of allowing you to feel that angst in the best, heart-wrenching way possible. The ending of this one doesn't disappoint. It leaves you on another cliffhanger that makes you hunger for the next book. I jumped right into book 3 without even taking a break. It's well worth the ride.

Similarities to Top Gun are nearly non-existent at this point in the story, and that’s a good thing. This book focuses more on how Grant and Mateo move beyond lust and begin to open up to each other and start developing real feelings. It happens somewhat gradually—though I think the time span of this book is about a month. Still, with two weeks off for the investigation into Grant’s plane crash, and Grant’s recovery, the men are given plenty of concentrated time together. And during at least some of that time, they can’t get physical with each other, so that forces them to talk and hang out and get to know each other, and start revealing their vulnerabilities and hidden truths.

One thing that bothered me a little was that while Grant was in the hospital, his friend Houdini and a lot of the other trainees were coming to visit him, but once he was released from the hospital they weren’t around at all. That seemed weird to me. Seems like Houdini at least would have been coming by to check on him, maybe made a fuss about Mateo being the one to keep an eye on Grant—something. It was distractingly convenient.

But this was a satisfying installment. I enjoyed watching Grant and Mateo bond, and open up to each other. I liked getting to see the vulnerable side of Mateo and learning why he is the way he is.

Again, this ends in a bit of a cliffhanger, so it is not at all a standalone.

    1st person/dual POV
Spice: 10/5 - still scorching just like book one!

Well after the way the first book ended I was so glad this picked up exactly where that one left off. There was no having to wait around to find out what happened. My favorite part about this book is how both of these guys are finally opening up to each other as they get to know each other better. The physical connection is still there, and boy is it a hot one, but beyond that we get to see them connecting on a deeper level. Some of the things they say and think in this book had me absolutely melting from how sweet it was. With the way both characters started out it shows how each of them are growing across the series. You have two guys who were so abrasive to each other now leaning on each other to get through not only one of the most intense and traumatizing experiences of a persons life in their line of work, but also navigating how to live their lives like they want to in the future. It may be a quick read but there is so much packed into it that it makes it feel like it's not. These guys have drawn me in and hooked me since the first chapter of book one and they are not letting up. Plus all of the fighter pilot/Top Gun inspiration is giving me LIFE!

No! Aww. Gah! Oh. Hmm? Eeek! Grrrrrrr. Gasp. Yes!

These are just some of the many sounds that I made while eating up the second book in Brooke Blaine and Ella Franks Elite Series, Need for Speed. *Note if you haven't read the first book, Danger Zone, then you may find this review spoiler-ish.

When we finished Danger Zone, Panthers jet had crashed into the water, leaving us with a big cliffhanger. Quickly in Need for Speed, we find that Panther has, thankfully, survived the crash mostly unscathed. But if we thought Solo would be crying beside, we were wrong.

As we dig deeper into the men's relationship, I grow more and more in love with them. I was in knots over Solo and his insecurity. Panther realizing his feelings are more than casual in the scene at the rock bluffs gave me tingles to the tips of my toes. Of course, what would the ending be if it didn't leave us guessing, but let me tell you it's so so so good.

I know I say it every time these two authors get together to write books, but man, I hope they never stop. I'm usually a hater of cliffhangers and trilogies, but I'd wait for years to read M/M from these authors. Another amazing read!

Danger Zone was about the first clash of two titans. Two gorgeous men whose paths cross and intertwine. It was fun, kind of unpredictable and taunting.

Need for Speed was about a speedy run towards love. A creation of something real and strong that had barely just bloomed. It's amazing the amounts of sex the MCs managed to have while undergoing hard training and other great challenges. I'm not complaining.

Classified was the great conflict, rapidly resolved to my contentment and about putting the big red bow in the beautiful gift that was this series.

I really enjoyed the result that came out of combining Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine. Interesting, constant banter, super hot sex as well as a bunch of feels to boot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Hot!
Reviewed in Canada on March 30, 2020
The story of Solo and Panther continues right where Danger Zone left off. The cliffhanger at the end of Danger Zone really had me on edge.

The romance really picks up in this edition and the men find out more about each other. The scenes are hot and steamy and there is no lack of heat in this book.

Panther's parents make an appearance in this book, and there is a challenge between Panther and his father at one point.

Looking forward to the next and final book in this series to see how their relationship works out, will they tell their friends and family, or will they keep it a secret.

The big question is, will it last longer than their NAFTA training; is this a love that will last or will it fly away? Can't wait to find out.

Just as good as the first book. This series pulled me in from the start.

Loving how the book ended and hopefully rather next one has a good outcome from that

Can’t wait to start the next boom and so glad it is out already

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh so beautiful 😍 Solo & Phanter ❤
Reviewed in Brazil on April 3, 2020
First, when the previous book ends, I wanted to scream in frustration at not having the second. But the wait was really worth it. In the story they connect and deepen what they already feel for each other, and the way the authors showed it was beautiful. Every touch, look, comfort... as I said, beautiful.
And the end? Again that I wanted to scream for not having the next book soon, Grant's courage is admirable. And Solo (sighs), I want one of these for myself.
However, according to previous criticism, I add that it would be interesting to see them with friends and, in Grant's case, with family. Maybe we'll have that on the third. We wait.
I recommend reading and falling in love with them.
Thank you so much Ella and Brooke, their story is beautiful.

These two! Gah! I'm so jacked up by them! I can picture them so vividly! Hot, sexy sweaty hunks of man candy! I need more!

Thankfully that huge cliffie is out the way and i can breathe a little more. The end of this one left me with a smile and a "awwwww" Can't wait till the conclusion! It's gonna make me exstatic! I know it!

I'm loving the storyline. It's fast paced and hot and steamy as well as telling you the story. The characters are to die for! Their chemistry is off the charts primal, it is 100% doing it for me 😂😅😅 i can't fault it. It just gives you those little flutters of appreciation and excitement i love.

Only a few more weeks till the conclusion and it can't come soon enough! I need them to ride off into the sunset on one of their Motorbikes with jet plane's flying overhead in red tinted sky at dusk! Yes i've imagined it! OK dreamed it 😍 take my breath awwwwwwaaaayyy 🎵 lol

    Seriously enjoyable read. Highly recommend!
