    This is another good one for Blake. May is shown as being pitted against her sister the FBI agent as an detective. She shows that she is just as good in her job and life as her sister. It makes a different backdrop for the story and is a fresh twist. Reviewed as an ARC for my honest opinion.

    Since I bought a boxed set of ebooks 1-3 in the series, I felt compelled to finish all three before saying anything about reading the rest of the set. My title should tell you my answer. If you enjoy protagonists who are consistently ridden by self-doubt, insecurities and emotions you may like this one. I don't.

    Then there's the relative lack of any sort of real world police experience, the repetitious nature of the story (a young girl is murdered. Shortly after her body is found, another young girls is murdered; the sheriff immediately says "serial killer;" May once again postponed investigating the cold case of her sister's disappearance ; she eventually solves the crime after realizing she was going at it all wrong); let alone that any small locale in Minnesota is going to see six young women murdered in barely a year and retain its police force.

    Nope. I've had enough. Can't overlook the flaws, and won't keep subjecting myself to a hero I can't like.

    So hooked on this series! Between the sister dynamic between May and Kerry along with the mystery of their missing sister Lauren, I am dying to know what happened! In this installment we start to see May get more confident in her abilities and stepping outside of the shadow of Kerry, while also starting to develop and realize feelings for Owen and a life of her own past her family’s expectations. I feel like I live for the end of the book where we get a little snippet of Lauren’s disappearance and the potential of a break in her case, and I find that I like that more than the actual mystery of the book itself.

    Deputy Sheriff May Moore is called to investigate the third murder since her promotion to deputy. The two victims are high school girls. All the usual suspects are questioned and a suspect is in custody, when May realizes all is not what is seems. Meanwhile, Owen’s secret crush on May grows. I love these two characters and have high hopes for them.
