About the author

Elizabeth Keysian is a USA TODAY bestselling author of heart-pounding Regency romances, set mostly in the West of England. She has just completed a series for Dragonblade Publishing called Trysts and Treachery, which is set in the Tudor era. Though primarily a writer of romance, she loves to put a bit of mystery, adventure, and suspense into her stories, and refuses to let her characters take themselves too seriously.
Elizabeth likes to write from experience, not easy when her works range from the medieval to the Victorian eras. However, her passion for re-enactment has helped, as have the many years she spent working in museums and British archaeology. If you find some detail in her work you’ve never come across before, you can bet she either dug it up, quite literally, or found it on a museum shelf.

Step into the pages of a story filled with a mystery. heartache and two characters that are drawn together unexpectedly. Both grieving from their losses, it seems there may be a solution.
Rowland Cavendish had lost his beloved wife in childbirth, but their child had lived. Seraphina had lost her child and almost her life at the hands of a man she was to marry, even at the defiance of her family.
Now she is caring for his child but he does not know who she really is, although he can tell Fina is of noble birth. Her solution? A marriage of convenience... But he would want more. Or will her past come back to haunt her?
A fabulous story, as only Elizabeth can weave, full of everything I love about historical romance at it's best! Loved it!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2024I like this sweet little Georgian era story. I'm glad the author didn't drag this out as could have been done. All the necessary elements are here in under 200 pages. There are one or two mistakes, but still a good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2021Sweet and romantic story about two people who have love and lost. They both deserve a second chance, but can it be with each other?
Fina never thought she would live far from home trying to make ends meet. To complete her misery, she even lost her daughter. She is well and truly alone in the world. Until one day Rowland barges into her cottage demanding she be the wet nurse for his son. What starts as a reluctant work relation soon turns into something much, much more.
The story is well-crafted. I loved both the main characters and there is enough drama to keep readers entertained. I absolutely loved it and thoroughly enjoyed the novella. It's a fun and quick read, perfect for lazy summer days. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a well-written historical romance.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2021Lovely short story. Both Seraphina and Rowland are very real-life characters, both realistic and practical in their approach to what life handed them. The subtle twists the story took were just enough to add a bit of the unexpected and the need to find out the reactions to each. I look forward to reading more of this author’s work.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2021An interesting if a little far-fetched plot.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2021I truly enjoyed Elizabeth Keysian's fourth story NEVER TEMPT A WIDOW, in the series Marry in Haste. The characters were realistic and the story well written.
This short and sweet novella tells the sweet story of Seraphina and Rowland and his baby boy Edgar. Seraphina was a naïve young lady when she trusted a wild rogue named Dundas and became pregnant of his child. Unfortunately, he abandon her and her little girl died. Now she's all alone, penniless and living in poverty. Rowland has just lost his wife while giving birth, and now his son Edgar, needs a wet-nurse. That's when their story begins, Rowland asks Seraphina to nurse his baby son. She accepts but her past comes back to haunt her. Will the man who betrayed her once, harm her again? Will Rowland protect her? Will Rowland and Seraphina get a chance and live better ever after?
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2021I read my first book from her and it was good. This one was too sexually explicit. Had to skip that section. Not needed. Will not be reading anything else from her.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2021Seraphina thought she was eloping with the man she loved, but he had other ideas. Now living as a widow in a small village she's offered a position at the home of a Baron. Terrified and alone she has to protect herself.
Sir Rowland Cavendish lost his wife in childbirth, but his son needs a mother's attentions. There is much more to the young widow than she is willing to share. Dare he entrust his son to a stranger?.
This is a lovely historical romance with unusual characters. There is excitement and troubling times for all of them.
This is a stand alone story that is a light-hearted and easy read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Good fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this story
I very much enjoyed this story. It was engaging and the characters came over very realistically in their reactions to one another. I liked the narrowness of the number of characters - it gave the story a good focus by not having a huge cast. The historical detail was as I expected it to be from an archaeologist - accurate and fascinating. I was particularly horrified by the fact that a baby's bottle in those days was made of pewter which is an alloy of lead I think! Poisoned from the crib! No wonder so many babies died in those days. I'm a big fan of a happy ever after, but also of emotional conflict, so this was satisfying in both of those requirements.
The only thing I could possibly find to criticise was the lack of horse knowledge, but that didn't matter much really. If you hit a galloping horse it would NEVER rear (which is what Fina's horse did when Dundas whacked its rump) and later on its referred to as a buck (much more likely) so I think that might be a continuity error. But who cares. I only noticed because horses are my thing, having worked with them, and owned them, all my life.
I saw someone said the sex scene was too much - but I thought it very well written and with no yucky bits. I've read a few terrible sex scenes in my time, and I felt this one, although on the explicit side, didn't push the boundaries too much. It came over as sufficiently romantic to not become clinical. Not a big fan of X going into Y and lots of named parts. I read all of that bit and wasn't offended at all.
I shall look out for more of this writer's books I think.

4.0 out of 5 stars An engaging story
This was an engaging story and I liked the characters of Fina and Rowland. Unfortunately, Fina has had a terrifying experience due to a man she thought loved her and now she finds it difficult to trust another man. Rowland is an honourable gentleman, who had lost his wife in childbirth and now needs someone to care for his baby son. There is an attraction between Fina and Rowland but Fina has a number of secrets that may affect how Rowland feels about her. As always with this author the story is rich with authentic detail. This was an entertaining story with a happy ending and where the villain gets his comeuppance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Light hearted short novello
A light hearted Novello. A dukes younger daughter elopes and finds her suitor is a rogue, which lands her in a mess. Slightly surprised at the speed and how they agree to marry, and indeed the length of time Felix takes to discover Fina's background, given he has her full name. As I say light hearted and due to its size/length the story could never become really complex, so as a 'fill in ' read worth it.
