Excerpts from Amazon Reviews:What an amazing story. A Duke who has lost his way. Hischildren who have lost their parents. A governess who loves the children . . .can she help make their house into a home? HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!

I might have stayed up a little too late wanting to see howit ended though, even knowing Rose's books always have happy endings.

I thoroughly enjoyed this clean Regency romance with greatcharacters, romance and intrigue.

Very heartwarming and enjoyable read.

This is such a sweet story. Love will conquer all. Thecharacters are memorable and the dialogue is believable. The emotions of thecharacters are explained in perfectly natural tones. The descriptive writinggives substance to the story.

I began this book in late evening & could not stop untilI was done. It's a good thing I do not work! Highly recommended.

Rose has read her way through countless romances over the years, “borrowing” them from her older sisters, and hiding them from her mother (Mom didn't like the sexy book covers!)

She has a special love for Regency romances and when she began writing, the Regency period was a natural place to start. The ton, the wealthy families, the Season, the dilemmas, and yes, the marriages, have always fascinated her. She loves a happy ever after! Now she is happy to bring this passion to her stories and share it with her readers.

On a personal note, Rose lives in North Carolina, is married, and has a terrier that barks too much. She enjoys taking him for walks to tire him out!

I loved every word, every minute, and every character of this book. It grabbed my attention immediately to the point that when I began it I could not put it down. The depth that readers sometimes put in their reviews gives way to much information. I feel they take away an element of surprise. I wish to say that the twists, turns, strength, sadness, and extreme joy is all found in this story. I felt it to the depth of my soul. I lost my first love to cancer and truely believed I would never be whole or happy again.I did find love again and am happy and whole. Thank you so much for touching my heart completely.

Losing a true soul mate is unthinkable for the living. Having a second chance at love, is enough to keep on living. Join Carrington and Jenny in their fight for family and life free from the darkness of loss.

There is very little to A New Home for the Duke in terms of action. The Duke is grieving for his wife by, apparently, being a completely disgusting person, constantly drunk and deeply unkind. His grief is gone over and over and over for page after page as he justifies each drunken spell or disgusting behavior to himself. The governess brings him to himself with harsh criticism, an unconvincing plot point to me. The children abruptly and unaccountably change from vicious little monsters toward the governess to leaning on her and being model children when the Duke returns to them. The manner of his being returned to them was highly questionable too.

I only got through this book by skipping many pages of repetitious internal monologue. In short, A New Home for the Duke, by Rose Pearson, is not a very satisfying read.

I enjoyed this book and will recommend it to other lovers of Regency Romance. The Governess in this story is a second cousin to the Dukes deceased wife. When she arrives the children are disrespectful and angry. Even though trials are hard the Governess cares for the children and the loss of their mother. I leave you to find out what happens next in the story. I did!!!!!!

The Duke's young wife dies in India, while he is serving in the Army there. His grief is so great that he begins to drink and sends his children back to live with the servants and a governess because looking at them reminds him of his wife. The children are lost with both of their parents technically gone and are uncontrollable. This is a sad story of a selfish immature man and whether eventually he will be able to be a father to his children. Interesting read but I thought the heroine was a much better person then he deserved.

The only thing I find wrong with this book is that it was too short!!
I am so happy that Jenny helped the children overcome their tyranny of the people in their lives!
It took John's trust of his father was seriously lacking until one day he wanted to do something for his father which almost killed him!
Who was it that hit him and ran away like a coward?
Don't know! The book does not tell you!

Pain, pain, pain, suffering, suffering, suffering. Woe is me, woe is me. Anything else? Oh, I have a life! My duty. My children. What do I do? There’s Miss Edgington. Ever stalwart. Caring for the children, John and Mary. John and Mary leaning on her now rather than being spiteful as at first. How things change with just a little bit of care. And all has reached a happy ending. Sigh.

I am the type of person that likes to finish a book once I have started it, but in this case, I wish I hadn't. Most of the book is filled with angst. The Duke spends most of the first 13 chapters (of a 17 chapter book) drunk, ill-tempered, and mean, almost to the point of being hateful towards everyone including his own children. Finally around chapter 13, something the governess said to him (and had been saying the whole book) got through, and like a switch being flipped, the Duke became this sweet, kind dad. I had hoped that the book would redeem itself at the end, but sadly, it did not. At the moment the Duke decided he was going to be nice, he also decided that he loved the governess. The last four chapters wrapped up very neatly without them really having spent a lot of time together.
I realize that this is just my opinion, but I wouldn't recommend this book.

I always enjoy Me Lncasters books. This one was no exception. I was a little sad that the ending finished with both main characters declaring their love for each other. It would have been nice to have read the Dukes intention to marry Jenny to his children as they played such a large part in this story. Maybe to have read their thoughts. And a nice epilogue coming back to the family in a few years time. Or a scene where the Duke takes his children to their mothers Grave marker.

This governess really did have a terrible task with just the children I thought she would try to escape , but if course she had a stronger character and the storyline would not let her fail her duty. I enjoyed every minute !.

The hereo wad drunk until half wake the bok, the heroine I thought was a bit of a wimp. The plot was just plain boring, no action at all! I'm afraid we should have had more than four lachmyrost people, and a flop of and end.
