From the Author

It has taken two years for me to wrap up and present this story that involves Indian history, and ideologies that involved lot of research. My ultimate goal of writing this story was informed entertainment - the reader should enjoy the read (romance) as well as brush up some information (facts and ideologies). And what's better than giving it in a platter of mystery! This book has given me many highs and lows and every time I read and edited it, I skipped several beats! Every chapter has something that keeps the reader glued and leaves him no option but to read more.My favorite characters from the story are Aryan Singh Shekhawat and Ashok Patel apart from the main female protagonist.Join me in this roller coaster ride! Buy this book and tell me what you loved more? Romance? Mystery or something else?

Top review from the United States

Ila Sharma is a hundred percenter and the Aryabhatta National Puzzle Champion. She takes up admission in Pune and her roommate Kyra, who is the daughter of a government officer in Pune, wants her to solve a riddle for her. And she solves it, forgetting her father’s warning of not getting into puzzle solving. She has another classmate, Aryan, who helps her at times. And there are people who want her for her brain. And she does not know whom she can trust and whom she cannot.
So what happens when her restless mind is tempted to solve the puzzle and she forgets her father’s warning, read the book and find out.

When I went through the content page of the book, I was intrigued. The book starts with a chapter which is called FACT followed by a chapter called OCCULT LORE and then there is a chapter ZERO. There are chapters with numbers, minus four and minus one.

Nine is a thriller all right. There were certain instances in the book where I felt that things were being dragged and at times, I felt that this could have been detailed. But the best part of the book is the suspense that has been painstakingly created. There were parts in the book when I was associating myself with the book and I thought I was with Ila and was trying to solve the number puzzles along with her.

The character of Ila has been developed well and I felt the author could have detailed other characters also. The language is simple and the narration is gripping and the thriller part makes the story fast-paced.

The author has really done a detailed research which was evident from the way she has described the historical incidents. The story moves effortlessly between the past and the present and between fact and fiction, keeping the reader guessing, what is what.

Ecstatic Reader
4.0 out of 5 stars An exciting read

This is the first time i am reading a well plotted mystery book from an Indian author.

Novel: Nine:A Gripping Tale of Ila Sharma
Author: Sweta Samota
Genre: Mystery,Thriller and Romance
Sold by: Amazon Asia-Pacific Holdings Private Limited
Language: English
ASIN: B07KWDLLZG

Blurb: 4/5
The blurb portion of the book is compactly written and highlighting the core substance of the story. After reading only the blurb part of the book, readers can get the idea that the story is going to be too intense. I decided to read this book only after reading the blurb section of the book. Here is the blurb:"All was going well for Ila, solving puzzles, gambling small things, defying Dad’s warning to not solve puzzles for strangers, until her photo is flashed in the media as the national puzzle champion. And then her world gets toppled upside down when she gets to know she is being hunted. She finds something shocking from the history of India and in one moment, everything changes. Grab a copy now."

Cover: 4/5
A girl facing backward is shown in the cover. The color and design is well crafted.

Title: 5/5
After reading the book, I can say that no other title can be more apt for this book.

Plot: 4/5
The plot of the novel is very beautifully and thoughtfully penned down I must say. This is the first strong plot i have read from an Indian author. The pace of the story is accurate and can keep reader interested. The story is not predictive at all. There were multiple instances where i assumed that this is going to happen next, but no, author has a total new and unique approach. This is not like any other mystery novel available in the market.

Story: 4/5
The story of the novel revolves around the story of the protagonist (Illa) and the people connected with her. Illa has a god gift, she can decrypt numbers, even the harder one. She liked to solve puzzles and sometimes gamble around. Her father didn't like her to solve puzzles for strangers. But, Illa didn't listen and one day she had to pay for her negligence. She had to decode some numbers which is of national security and she didn't have any choice but to do that task.
After the incidence, she started doubting everyone and the scope of loving someone was out of syllabus!

Overall: 4/5
I literally liked the plot and the story but i found many places where author needs to improve. There are so many grammatical mistakes in the book. The language is sometimes not clear. And the description of character can be improved. Overall, it was an exciting read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book reminded me of Robert Langdon and Bharat Series
Reviewed in India on February 7, 2019
It has been more than 3 years since I last read Dan Brown's book because I started reading more from Indian literature/authors. And it has been more than 2 years since I last read Ashwin Sangi's book, as in Indian literature I focused more on debut or small authors. But the feeling of losing or not able to read a book by them kept coming to my mind. So it was a wonderful experience when I was reading Nine by Sweta Samota because the plot, storyline, and genre reminded me of Robert Langdon and Bharat Series.

Those who read Indian Mythological & Historical genre might be aware of the conspiracy theory of Ashoka and his Nine unknown. We know because we have more than a dozen fictional books around that theory. And still, our hunger for the subject is unsatiated. So when we saw Sweta's post on Instagram about her book and special kindle promotional price of 79 INR we just grabbed the copy for us.

As I have mentioned the story is around Ashoka and his secret knowledge sect. Ila a math problem solver known as number girl is our protagonist. She got problem-solving skills from her dad who had changed his identity to save his life and country. He advised his daughter not to solve a problem for someone. But she didn't listen to his dad and joined a prestigious college in Pune. Her goal was to get a gold medal in the world puzzle championship. In college she met with Kyra and Aryan both became close to her but always seems mysterious to Ila. Things changed Ila's life when she accidentally solved the problem given by Kyra. She didn't know she was messing up something related to national security and international terrorist group. Read the book to know more.

You will be shocked to find a small role by our dear Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the book as well. By mentioning codes/math don't worry much even if you are weak at it, Sweta has taken care to explain it to naive readers as well. The flow and pace were smooth and fluid. Not a single moment of unnecessary boring narration. Interesting chemistry between Aryan and Ila. Good mix and match of mystery, thriller, and drama. A perfect pick for a date with a book. I would love to have this book published by well-known publishers and get its copy in our physical book collection.

“Don’t trust anyone! Appearances are often deceptive.”
.
.
I have been reading a lot of mythology, and this one is my second book based on the concept of The Ashoka and nine unknown. This book has both romance and mystery. It is based on a huge mystery that needs to be solved!
Manu Mukundi Lal died under mysterious circumstances and left behind a diary. This diary contains information of national importance. It has codes and these codes need to be solved quickly, by the right people. This can only be done by the number girl. Ila is brilliant at solving math problems and is called the number girl. She is needed by both the good and bad people, in order to solve those codes. The codes present in Manu’s dairy. In this process she gains and loses a lot. Her life is not the same and is not hers anymore.
This book was good. The concept of the story is amazing but the story line is a little weak. The book needs a little editing. The love chemistry is the book between Ila and her love interest is great. They bring a spark in your heart. But the book is really fast paced. Things happen and too quick. You will get to know a lot about the political aspects and about the PM of our country. The story is a good mixture of mystery, thriller and drama. Language is simple as well. I rated this book a 3/5 🌟.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading for thriller loving people
Reviewed in India on June 8, 2019
Ila Sharma, our protagonist, is a master of solving puzzles which she inherited from her father. Due to some unknown reason, probably for the safety of his daughter, he advised Ila not to solve any mystery thrown up by strangers. Little did she knew that her close ones were enough to land her in a big trouble. A tinge of love story is also added which makes the story even more interesting.

The story is a mind blowing thriller and the fast paced narration completely compliments it. Speaking of Dan Brown, I might be the only person alive who couldn't come in terms with him but I absolutely loved this read. In a lucid and much clearer language, this book is a perfect blend of past and present. The mention of Narendra Modi, our PM, was completely unexpected for me.

The title is apt but looking at the gravity of the story, I feel the cover could have been better. The whole story is divided into 22 chapters which makes a story of about 300+ pages, easy to read.

Overall, the story is worth reading for thriller loving people and coming from Indian author, it is absolutely a perk.
