Este libro no es una novela, tal vez por ello puede resultar un poco más difícil de leer. Pero es un regalo de “libro técnico”, sobre una temática de la que hay muy poco en español. Los libros técnicos en esta materia suelen estar muy por encima de los 20 euros. Trabajo en el mundo real en estas cosas. Hay ejemplos, aunque nunca suficientes. También puede descargarse gratis mi tesis doctoral, que trata de la Web Semántica, aunque advierto que las tesis si son “espesas”. OBJETIVO DEL LIBRO: Explicar a todo el mundo qué es esto de la Web Semántica. La reutilización de los datos, es ya, el petroleo del siglo XXI ,y conocer esto, puede abrir lineas de negocio. Las empresas necesitarán personas que sepan de Open Data, Linked Data y en definitiva de Web Semántica. Lo interesante, es que Web Semántica comienza a ser cada vez más popular, y las técnicas necesarias para su construcción comienzan a madurar. Encontramos indicios en la proliferación de datos enlazados conocido como “Linked Data”. Pero tal vez, la causa determinante de la popularidad e interés que despierta hoy la Web Semántica sea la creciente demanda social sobre la apertura de datos (“Open Data”). Es decir, todo esto está emergiendo y puede proporcionar oportunidades de todo tipo. Creemos que este libro puede ser interesante para adquirir una visión global de las tecnologías que rodean estos conceptos. Trataremos de contestar una gran variedad de preguntas que todos empezamos a plantearnos, como por ejemplo: ¿qué es la Web Semántica y hacia dónde nos lleva?, ¿en qué situación está?, ¿qué es una ontología, cómo se diseñan y se utilizan?. ¿OWL?. ¿qué es y para qué sirve la anotación semántica?, ¿cómo podemos empezar a participar?, ¿Linked Data?, ¿Open Data?, ¿con que herramientas contamos?, ¿cómo manejamos datos con semántica?, ¿bases de datos semánticas?, etc..

Telecommunication Engineering from the University Alfonso X and PhD from the UNED. He has developed his professional work, always in relation to information technology, in sectors as diverse as tax, agricultural, health and now the transport sector. As for research, it focuses on the field of Semantic Web, specifically in search of procedures or methods to help transform the current Web to a Web with semantics. He is the author of the so-called "sw2sws" (open source) that can transform a website into a semantic web site from the cooperation of active users, according to the "semi-automatic procedure to transform the Web into Semantic Web" tool (described in dissertation). he is also author of a prototype semantic search engine called Vissem.
