Not Over Yet Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 481 ratings

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me…

One pissed off Santa…

A whole heap of trouble…

The last thing Phin feels like doing is going to a New Year’s Eve party. After a day dealing with sick animals, all he wants is a glass of red wine, some food and his bed. But as he drives home down a steep, snow-covered hill, he skids and hits a guy dressed as Santa Claus.

Maric’s not badly hurt, but he’s pissed off. He’s pretty sure Phin’s not the one he’s supposed to find, but when Phin takes him to his cottage, and Maric sees no sign of festivities, he begins to wonder if Phin is the one who needs his help.

Much as Phin would like to get rid of Maric, the thickly falling snow makes it too dangerous for Phin to drive him anywhere. The pair are stuck together, which suits Maric just fine. Now all he needs is luck and a bit of magic.

Barbara Elsborg lives in Kent in the South of England. She always wanted to be a spy, but having confessed to everyone without them even resorting to torture, she decided it was not for her. Volcanology scorched her feet. A morbid fear of sharks put paid to marine biology. So instead, she spent several years successfully selling cyanide.

After dragging up two rotten, ungrateful children and frustrating her sexy, devoted, wonderful husband (who can now stop twisting her arm) she finally has time to conduct an affair with an electrifying plugged-in male, her laptop.

Her earlier books feature quirky heroines and bad boys, now she concentrates on the bad boys, and hopes her books are as much fun to read as they are to write. If you'd like to know more about Barbara or be put on her mailing list, details can be found here www.barbaraelsborg.com She is also on Facebook and Twitter under her author name.

This book's characters and their story sneak up on you.

I wasn't sure for a while that their romance would click with me... then it totally did.

There's the usual Barbara Elsborg humour present, as well as her ability to make you experience little heart flutters, a hit to the feels. What I thought was simply going to be a fluffy little tale gave me so much more heart and soul.

Maric is adorable and Phin is a good guy, who can't love people who love animals? The fairy tale being told to the alpaca - oh, my heart. The letters. The snow dragon. I always enjoy BE's use of snow and magic around Christmas time. Not Over Yet is magical reading. Enjoy!

Unique Christmas/Holiday story written by Barbara Elsborg (which I always count as a win.) it was cute and fun though not as captivating as some of Elsborg’s other work. There was some spark of connection missing between the characters in the relationship and the characters as they related to me. It could be that it was slightly rushed because I did notice some technical errors that I do not recall from the other Ellsborg work I’ve enjoyed. I do recommend it. It’s way better than the majority of Christmas stories available.

    A charming tale !
Phin is a Veterinarian and has been caring for sheep, and he’s tired on this New Year’s Eve. During his trip home he gets a surprise that sends his truck skidding on the icy road. What was the blonde, blue-eyed man doing on he road?
Phin takes Maric home to check him out, but Maric isn’t exactly appearing normal.
Maric has until January 5th to complete his task, so he spends quality time with Phin, learning about his sadness, but they do have fun. Maric learns about Phin, but can’t tell his truths. He does tell some stories, and sweet Maric makes very fancy decorations, they both go sledging, eat tasty meals, and have a new adventure for Maric, plus get sexy times.

Later on, it’s time for Maric to explain, but what will Phin think ?
This is cute, funny, magical, dreamy and heartwarming.
Let go and let the happiness catch you in this “fairytale” style story.
We get a fantastic, fantasy epilogue to make us smile !
    ENJOY !

It doesn't take you long to figure out that this is going to be somewhat of a fantasy, especially after Phin the veterinarian accidentally runs his old pick up truck into Maric the somewhat weird, but cute. stranger during a vicious snowstorm in northern England.

Then Phin makes the mistake of putting his roof over Maric's head for want of any better place to send him, and all heaven and not a single moment of hell breaks loose.

I loved Barbara Elsborg's Jonty series and her cowboy book, but this one is so far removed from any kind of reality that you just have to hold on during some hilarious scenes to get to the point where Maric's identity is revealed--which, if you have been paying attention, you will figure out pretty soon into the soup.

This is a super easy and totally entertaining read which lulled me in and kept me happy.

Was it perfect? No. Was the beginning a bit mean and rocky? Yes. I enjoyed the vibrancy that Maric brought that softened Phin’s prickly edges.

In all, a fun holiday read!

I read this because I loved Jonty’s Christmas, a holiday sequel to The Making of Jonty Bloom. This was more fantastic, rather than a full-on contemporary, but the bones were similar: lovable characters (a witty, snarky babbler and a grouch); vibrant, funny dialogue; and a heartwarming holiday story in which the holidays are integral to the story rather than being an afterthought. This was an excellent read, particularly for the holiday season.

“Remember no who, why, how, what, which? It’s magic. It can’t be explained."

Go into the story believing this and it will all make more sense.

5 stars and I'd give it more.
    Oh it's simply - perfect!
Oh how romantic! Adorable! Super cute and sweet! Done ever so skillfully to woo us romantics! If there ever was a perfect Christmas story --- ! Ohhh. It makes my heart warm and my eyes teary in the most positive way. This'll to my Re-read Every Christmas Season list!

I love the characters and the story. It's once again so imaginative and well-rendered. It's not the same old same old but fresh. There are two hearts to make happy here and both find it in each other but it needs both of them. And when that happens they do get their HEA.

Once again Barbara Elsborg has crafted a whimsical story that warms the heart and heats certain other, not to be named, body parts. I think I detect a certain amount of my favourite Northumbrian cousin, Jonty , in Maric. Happy but always worried about getting it wrong, creative in word and deed, so very, very loving and so content to be so loved and cherished! Thank you Barbara for bringing these characters so fully to life for us. The magic in this tale is reflected so much in the magic you have used to craft another spellbinding tale of gay love. Thank you so much 👏🏻🥰

I loved the humour/sarcasm of dear Santa. He definitely didnt do well with blood.lol poor fellow. But what comes next Maric learns his to live and have fun at Christmas again. A gorgeous book of magic, laughter and love before time runs out.
When two worlds collide Maric and Phen would meet despiter Maric's brother waiting for him to fail.
A busy day at work and Maric didnt want to party on new years eve. But fate steps in.

🎅❄☃️🎄 4.25 stars from me. A lovely little fantasy Christmas read from Barbara. Yes, Phin was a little bit Scrooge-like at the start of the story, but Maric melted his heart and let him discover just how good Christmas [and the rest of the time that they had together] could be. 🎄☃️❄🎅
