About the author

I am a writer of contemporary and speculative fiction and artist of all things monsters. I live to create new worlds and the people in them. Several of my books have been best sellers both nationally and internationally. I have also been a finalist in the LAMDA awards, the "Oscars" of gay literary works.
I do my best to write original stories with powerful characters and emotion as well as a fast paced plot. My goal isn't just to deliver a good story but to take the reader into the story and let them experience the characters as if they are right there with them.
While almost all my books have a romantic element, I will be the first to admit, they are not traditional romance. In fact, I'd like to think there is nothing traditional about them. And the stories I paint are done so way outside the lines of traditional genres.
One of my favorite things to do as a writer is push the boundaries of what makes a story and to deliver the unexpected and maybe even change the perspective of the reader.
My characters are more often than not, beautifully flawed, not alway the good guy, and make mistakes. Their stories will take dark turns which, in the end, make the light at the end of the tunnel all the more brighter.
If you're looking for something different, exciting, and unique, my books are for you.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2022Adrienne Wilder is a fantastic storyteller and that's again evidenced by the tale spun in NoX.
Two primary arcs and POV lead to an intersection around a genetics company playing god. The New World Genetics facility in Utah has a major event when their created alpha, Koda, is killed by a beta, something that shouldn't happen, and that very powerful, very determined beta turns up at a sick young man's house because he has to protect him above all else.
Meanwhile, the military pulls an ex New World scientist out of his steady life in the middle of the night to help them unravel what has happened in Utah, and why.
This all leads to deadly cat and mouse games, a road trip, and some problematic new players.
NoX is gripping right from the get-go, has some nice scientific backbone, plus some primal sex as well. It also has some gory action-packed fight scenes.
The new spin on shifters/pack by Wilder is interesting and engaging, often with me on the edge of my seat.
I both listened to and read the book at different times. Kirt Graves gives great depth and solid delineation between multi POV. I enjoyed his voice and the passion, the understanding, he gave the characters. He did such a good job of bringing them all to life and I really loved Nox/Nash and Luca. Dr Dante grew on me. I enjoyed getting to know things about Koda as well.
Wilder never lets me down and I loved this book so I'm going to tackle Anubis. I wish it had an audiobook as well, the eyes ain't what they used to be, but it's not that long released and I don't feel like waiting for the audiobook, if there is to be one. NoX is highly recommended reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2022I have no words! Okay, yes I do – haha. What started as a detour, whilst I was waiting for the release of some of my other favorite MM novels, became something I couldn’t put down. Literally it consumed 36 hours of my life. I had this book in my kindle samples for a little over a month and finally decided to delve in – and delve in, I did.
It is more than a good read, it’s an experience all its own. It deserves an Oscar and it’s not even movie adapted, yet? It’s remarkable writing, including themes of blossoming love, heartache, unfathomable power, unhinged rage, speckled with comedic relief, unbridled lust – tehe – and just so much more. As a fellow writer – hopefully someday a published writer – and English major, I couldn’t be more enthralled with the writing. It was cinematic. It was, well hard to follow, when Reese talked science, but it was always put in layman’s terms. Thankfully lol.
The characters are so raw, real, and relatable. I just adore them all so much. They have depth. Fears, wants, cravings… I felt what they felt – hell, am I a Cana? – even when the characters were more unhinged. Ahem, NOX. Even the villains in the story, were so well written that I hated to "love" them.
How Wilder managed to bring together such a chaotic, passionate, violent, supernatural, intense, universe, I will never know. But I am grateful, I stumbled upon the title, and I cannot wait to tear into – pun intended – the next title “Anubis”.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2020"NOX" is a very interesting story that has a great hook - it definitely starts out with a bang; Luca Suarez is minding his own business in his home when he's attacked by giant dog-monsters before he's saved by a nude man with amnesia who was impossibly sent by his dead brother Koda to supposedly save him from the monsters now stalking his every move.
It's a real bang of a start, and one of "NOX"'s strengths is the pacing; the novel never moves too slow or bogs you down in too much inane crap to keep you from the immediacy of Luca and Nox needing to flee for their lives as they desperately try to figure out the answers to the many questions that Nox's very existence brings up. Without any spoilers, this is a very uniquely *weird* take on werewolf lore - Nox is a beta who was brought back from death by the ichor, a substance found in a hidden tomb in Egypt, that turns him into a jackal-type lycanthropic monster called the Anubis. Wilder takes her cues from old horror here by infusing the Egyptian god of the dead and embalming with scientists stumbling on ancient secrets that are hinted to not even be from Earth - or at least not this dimension - and using fumbling attempts at quantum physics to unleash ancient monsters on the world.
There's some good twists and turns here: a very Resident Evil-type sequence plunging into the hastily abandoned scientific complex Nox escaped from, US armed forces trying to hunt Nox and thus Luca down, and the knowledge that there is another player waiting in the wings all while Nox tries to regain his memories and Luca tries to find answers to everything keeps the plot moving very briskly along. While all of this sounds amazing, however, there are two flaws that kept me from giving this one a five star.
The first is that, as many reviewers have pointed out before me, Wilder seriously needs a copyeditor. I know many Kindle authors self-publish from start to finish, but even ones that don't get a huge boost from major publishing companies tend to have some kind of beta reader. There aren't an *insane* number of errors, but there are enough to jar the casual reader from the prose (hell, there's a bonus chapter at the end where a character is named Isaiah and she misspells the name as Isiah on one page and corrects it back to Isaiah one page later, as a simple example). This book is also just a touch too long at just over 500 pages; with a harsher editor, it could have easily been cut back to 450ish and been fine - or maybe made it a touch longer, as the final leap to the climax of everything catching up to Luca and Nox (which was a good climax!) was a bit unbelievable involving the character Dr. Reese -- you'll know it when you read it.
The second is that this read kind of like the TV show "Lost"; answers were just starting to be found when a last-minute revelation/twist kind of opened up a sarcophagus of about a zillion more questions that only get worse when you read the bonus chapter that may or may not be the start of a sequel; it gives you the impression that either Wilder knew her mythology but couldn't get it all across to the reader, or was just making some last minute stuff up as she went along and it didn't satisfactorily answer enough questions, especially when (in my opinion) the novel had reached a truly satisfactory ending about four paragraphs before the actual end that left it open for a sequel.
Despite these drawbacks, however, "NOX" was a very engaging read with some very intriguing characters that managed to draw you in and make you care about their character journey and whether or not they ended up together without being saccharine or overdramatic, and in an LGBT-themed sci-fi/horror drama like this, it's a testament to Wilder's raw talent as an author. With a little polish, the hopeful sequel to this story will shine very brightly indeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Poderia virar um filme

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Unique and Engaging
This book was a fantastic read. The first time I read the synopsis I was eagerly anticipating the events. I never anticipated what was written but it kept me on my toes, fuelling my want to read this book without any rest and so I did. I was never bored with it, packed with action and mystery. I’d definitely read it many more times and look forward to the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Positively Riveting
Absolutely superb writing that hooks you and keeps you on the edge of your seat in heat, suspense, disbelief, and horror; sometimes simultaneously. This book is not for the faint of heart: while the bad guys often get what they deserve, good people suffer too - just like in the real world.
Now for the juicy stuff. At its core, it's a subverted ABO story (alpha, beta, omega) where the shifters are created by a substance that gives them supernatural abilities; however, it replaces the ever-present (and much loved) trope about magic and replaces it with biology and physics. What it creates is so much darker and grittier than most novels of this type, but that's also why it's so fascinating.
Wait to read this until you have the brain space to follow all the fast pased drama and scientific intrigue. Oh - and the bonus chapter at the end just opened a whole new can of worms. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all, and I both hope I do and also hope I don't as I am not an easy person to surprise, but they managed it!
I dont know how the author has even come up with any of this, but I am diving into the second book the second I finish this review. If they keep it up like they have been, they will have a loyal fan for life.
