True Crime: Murder By Numbers: The 100 Most Deadly Serial Killers From Around The World (True Serial Killers) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 116 ratings

100 Chilling True Crime Cases Featuring The Most Prolific Serial Killers Worldwide

Depending on which definition you read, a serial killer is someone who commits at least two (some say three) murders, in separate incidents, with a cooling off period in between.

Some killers, of course, go way beyond that, evading capture long enough to amass quite staggering victim counts. This volume documents 100 such monsters, serial killers like;

Alexander Pichushkin, a Russian psychopath who set out to murder 64 victims (one for each square on the chessboard) and fell just three short.

Randy Kraft, the “Scorecard Killer” is believed to have killed 67 young men, subjecting them to horrific sexual torture.

Ahmad Suradji, an Indonesian “witchdoctor” who slaughtered at least 40 women in an effort to increase his magical powers.

Dr. Harold Shipman, the world’s most prolific serial killer, suspected of over 250 murders.

David Simelane, a horrific rape slayer who terrorized the tiny kingdom of Swaziland, brutally strangling as many as 45 women.

Coral Watts, a psychopath known as the Sunday Morning Slasher, suspected of over 80 murders in Texas and Michigan.

Irina Gaidamachuk, a unique female serial killer who bludgeoned 18 elderly victims to death to fund her boozing binges.

The Lainz Angels of Death, a quartet of medical monsters suspected of murdering over 300 elderly patients.

Zhang Yongming, a Chinese cannibal who kept a jarful of human eyeballs in his home.

Luis Garavito, horrendously depraved torture slayer of up to 400 boys aged 8 to 12.

As a twelve year old, I borrowed a book from the library that I thought was a vampire novel. It turned out to be the true story of British "vampire" serial killer, John Haigh (amazing the things they'll let a 12 year old check out!). Nonetheless, I was fascinated, and even though the librarian wouldn't let me take out any other books on the subject, I became a true crime junkie, burning my way through True Detective magazines by the dozen.

Forty years later, I feel as though I've investigated more cases of murder than most homicide detectives, studied more serial killers than your average profiler, and spent more time than a conference full of psychologists trying to understand what every true crime buff really wants to know; Why do they do it?

My books feature the cases that interest me most. I hope that you will find them equally fascinating.

I read this book via an Amazon-US KINDLE Unlimited download.

We’ve all seen and read countdowns for best/worst of for a myriad of miscellaneous topics, from movies to songs to hamburger joints to places to visit, with each countdown consisting of 100 items. But the worst countdown, a countdown no one really wants to deal with, or know about. In this book, the author, Robert Keller, gives his readers 100 of what he feels are the deadliest serial killers from around the world.

Mr. Keller presents his readers with a book which has been organized from the least deadly serial killer to the worse, in a table of contents that allows readers to read this book in a typical countdown manner or to skip around. The table of contents itself lists these heinous individuals according to the number of victims they’d murdered, their names and the country where their horrific murders took place.

While some of the individuals in this book are quite infamous like the United State’s Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer, others didn’t manage to gain any attention and literally flew under the proverbial radar.

One of the things which can make or break a book like this is the writing of the author, which I felt had been rather engaging. Mr. Keller takes the research he’s done and gives his readers the essence of the wickedness which made these individuals tick, in an easily understandable manner that is essential in dealing with this topic.

Given the above, this reviewer is happy to give this author 5 STARS for the dedicated work he’s put into this book.

Ordinary people don't know about serial killers

I enjoyed reading this countdown of the 100 most prolific serial killers in the world. Apparently these are fairly recent murderers whose crimes can be verified, and megamonsters such as Countess Bathory and Vlad the Impaler are not included.

If I had proofread this book, I would have made 84 corrections.

Mr. Keller writes very well. His portraits are well researched and easy to read and understand. Not only do you find familiar names but there are also some less well known serial killers who have flown under the public radar.

Brief description of killer and victim. Enough to give you the gist. Well written and informative.

Pretty good book. A lot of it goes over well trodden ground, but there are some little known ( to me at any rate ), cases covered. Well written without being gratuitously gory.
