Nyssa Glass and the Electric Heart: Book Five in the Nyssa Glass Steampunk Series Kindle Edition
Reformed cat burglar Nyssa Glass and her boyfriend, inventor Ellis Dalhart, are ready to settle into happily ever after. However, fate throws another wrench in the clockwork, forcing them apart and leaving Nyssa fighting for her life and freedom once more.
Shanghaied from her island sanctuary, Nyssa finds herself in the clutches of the mastermind who framed her for murder: the wealthy and powerful Marcus Rivera. Rivera wants something from Nyssa, something she can't give, something she swears she destroyed in her first trip into the tomb-like Dalhart Manor. Now she's forced to return to the death trap of a mansion. And this time Rivera is watching her every move.
Back in San Azula, Ellis scrambles to find out what has happened to the love of his life. Desperate to get her back, he must make an unlikely alliance with a police detective who wants nothing more than to see Nyssa hanged. But will he get to Nyssa before it is too late or will his attempts to save her make him Rivera's next target?

About the author

Born in a small town in north central Oregon, H. L. Burke spent most of her childhood around trees and farm animals and was always accompanied by a book. Growing up with epic heroes from Middle Earth and Narnia keeping her company, she also became an incurable romantic.
An addictive personality, she jumped from one fandom to another, being at times completely obsessed with various books, movies, or television series (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Star Trek all took their turns), but she has grown to be what she considers a well-rounded connoisseur of geek culture.
Married to her high school crush who is now a retired US Marine, she has moved multiple times in her adult life but believes that home is wherever her husband, two daughters, and pets are.
She is the author of The Supervillain Rehabilitation Project Superhero Universe, the Award Winning (2016 Realm Award for Young Adult Fiction) Nyssa Glass Steampunk series, and MG/Fantasy "Cora and the Nurse Dragon," among others.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAnother will written British 🏰 romantic family and friends relationships adventure thriller short story by H. L. Burke (Nyssa Glass Steampunk Series book 5 of 5). Nyssa is kidnapped and returned to her home town. Ellis and O'Hare a police officer return searching for Nyssa. Nyssa is at what was Ellis's family home with Ellis's father's partner wanting all of his records. Ellis and O'Hare to the rescue. I would highly recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of paranormal fantasy adventure novels 👍🔰 2023 👒😀💘🏡
- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2017Format: KindleVerified Purchase'Electric Heart' closes out this five book steampunk series in gratifying fashion with all the adventure, wonder and memorable characters I've come to enjoy from the start. Interesting to realize how series ends where it begins at Dalhart Mansion, tho twists kept things more than lively and wouldn't have it end any other way for Nyssa and Ellis. A little sad to see the series completed, but my mood perked up some when I seen (and immediately purchased) the prequel "Nyssa Glass and the Caper Crisis" so still hopeful that there is even more to come, perhaps a spinoff? Bottom line - an engaging book and I do recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2017Format: PaperbackVerified Purchase~I have enjoyed the other five stories in the series and this one is no exception. It was nice to see some of the loose ends taken care of. Bad guys got what they deserved…false accusations cleared up…some unanswered questions, answered…a misplaced birthright, re-claimed…personal relationships, blossoming…all done in H.L. Burke’s wonderful writing style.
~There is continual character development, even this far into the series. Both Nyssa and Ellis are challenged and forced to make some hard decisions…decisions, that could prove costly if things go wrong.
~I would recommend this book to anyone who has read the other ones in the series…it is not a stand-alone, it really is part of the series. And it is a very good series.
~While this is the last book in the series, I truly hope that it is not actually the last book in the series. There are more adventures out there to be discovered by Nyssa and Ellis
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAlthough I am sorry to see the series end, H.L. Burke did a fantastic job of tieing up any loose ends. The series ends in the same location it started in. It has been nearly 3 years since this book was published so I am guessing there won't be any further installments, but I am hoping I am wrong. If anyone is thinking of reading this book, I highly suggest starting from the beginning. You can get the entire collection in an omnibus for less than $7, or free with kindle unlimited. Do yourself a favor and buy the prequel and the 5 book series. You will not be disappointed (as you see from all the 4 and 5 stars ratings)
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA nice tidy wrap up to the series. This took care of any little loose ends or possible questions readers might have. I'm not sure it was entirely necessary since I didn't really feel like having all of these things handled added anything. If you're a reader that HAS to have everything tied up then you'll probably appreciate this. For me it was addressing things that didn't really bother me, etc.
So while it was a nice ending, it felt more like when you're leaving a hotel and you're running through each room double checking to make sure you didn't leave a swimsuit in the bathroom or a sock under the bed or a charger in the wall. Most of us do that because better safe than sorry, but it's not really interesting. I want to read about what you did while you were staying at the hotel. Where you went, who you met, anything funny that happened, etc. I'm not going to ask after you finished, "But did you ever clean under the bed in case a sock you wore slipped under there?"
Hopefully that makes sense.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLots of suspense and action to finish out the Nyssa Glass series. Nyssa and Ellis both get their share of action and their relationship comes to a satisfying conclusion.
Sex - sweet kisses
Language - mild swearing
Violence - bruises, gun shot, one death - no graphic details
Religion - a few prayers
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2016Format: KindleVerified PurchaseNyssa Glass and the Electric Heart is the last book in this wonderful YA Steampunk series. Nyssa and Ellis are finally able to resolve their troubles once they go back to where it all began. I've enjoyed the entire series very much and though sad to see it end, I'm happy for Nyssa and Ellis and their new life. I heartily recommend all the books in this series for readers of any age.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA good ending to the series. It brings back some plot lines / characters from earlier in the series and ties everything up neatly at the end. Definitely a cute and fun series overall. I really like Nyssa and Ellis and all the books are short easy reads. I wouldn't mind reading more if the author wanted to continue the series, but this is very much a happy ending and I think a good place to leave things overall.
