Obey (His Command Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 898 ratings

In the dim lights of Aurora’s premier kink club waits an alpha eager to take control.

Billionaire Crawford Daniels has bedded submissives before, but he’s never given one his collar. That privilege is reserved for the man who’s strong-willed enough to tell him no, but whose pretty lips always say yes. Crawford wants more than a pet—he wants a partner. Someone to pamper and spoil.

Or punish.

Hidden behind case reports and paperwork waits an omega afraid to give it all up.

Owen Ellis has fought tooth and nail to rise above his omega status and find success. He’s educated, successful, and independent, but deep inside, he knows something is missing. A mistake during his teenage years has led to a lifetime of loneliness, and Owen refuses to surrender his heart again. He’s afraid to be hurt.

He’ll never let another alpha in.

But some rules are meant to be broken. When Owen meets Crawford and sparks fly, Owen has to decide if happiness is worth the risk. The choice is always his. He can walk away and embrace loneliness—

—or he can wear Crawford’s collar and obey.

Obey is a 42,000 word stand-alone novella packed full of steamy BDSM, MPreg, one of the hottest uses for an ice cube ever, and a happily ever after that proves in the end, love really does win.

Piper Scott’s love of reading began at age ten, when she discovered that the magical worlds in adult fantasy novels were way more exciting than playground politics. As she grew up, so did her reading habits, and now not only does she like to read books on the steamy side, but she loves to write them, too.

A Canadian by birth but an American by marriage, Piper currently resides in Southern Illinois, where she leads a quiet life with her husband, their three dogs, a very demanding cat, and her office mate—her pet rabbit.

If you love Piper’s omegaverse, mpreg, and paranormal romance books, be sure to check out her work as her gay contemporary romance alter ego, Emma Alcott!

*The Forbidden Desires series, co-written with Virginia Kelly, takes place concurrent to the events of Breathe. All other co-writes are not directly connected to Piper's omegaverse.

Went into this book blind, the cover was enough for me. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was omegaverse with mpreg, I love those as well, just wasn’t expecting it. Owen and Crawford were great characters and I loved how Crawford took care of Owen while also valuing him as a person and more than an omega.

This was a good quick read and I enjoyed it alot. It was my companion at the airport and on my flight and by the time I got home I had little of it left to read because it moved well. It was nice to read the gradual acknowledgement of the connection between the two main characters and it was nice to enjoy how that helped Owen resolve his health issues. I received an ARC and bought it anyway because I will read it again at some point. I am already on to book two and I am sorry that I was too busy to get to the book sooner. I am pleased that I already have the next book.

I liked it overall, but the pacing was off. The time jumps really didn’t add anything for me. Good story though.

The least typical love story I've read in quite some time if ever. A dom hired to heal a broken sub from years of abuse after months of counseling at a omega' s treatment facility fails. The sub just wants to return to his dom until he realizes that since his dom ran a brothel and abused omegas, he will never see him again. Desperate, he is unsure what to do and thing become more and more complicated. Even the dom hired to help him gives up...but why? Are they both struggling with similar feelings? Can the sub ever heal enough to live enough of a normal life again?
The book paints so many vivid emotions as well as descriptions of the life of everyone that you can't help but feel as though you are watching them from the side lines. You will laugh, get angry, wish to cry, hurt others, and more. This author will send you on a rollercoaster you will never forget long after departing!
I highly recommend this to all who love romance, those who have an inner strength beyond measure. Yes, this is a male/male book, but there are few parts that could be deemed inappropriate and are easily skipped, so it shouldn't stop anyone from, reading this amazing book.

First off, the books in the series can be read as standalones but are SO MUCH BETTER when read in order!!! Terrific storyline with perfect touches of BDSM and omegaverse tossed in. For those of you not familiar with omegaverse here goes (albeit not in depth): besides male/female genders there is alpha/beta/omega who can be m/f - alphas top of 'food' chain, betas are normal everyday, and omegas are considered bottom of 'food'chain and both m/f can become pregnant. Okay back to story - Beautiful story of lust & love at first sight and finding your way around growing as a couple and determining your needs and wants in a relationship. Gentle and satisfying.

I knew going into this that I would enjoy the narration because, well it's Michael Pauley, you can't go wrong with him narrating a story. As expected the story was well told and it was easy to determine voices. The story itself is good as well. It's a slightly different take on the omegaverse and the dom/sub universe as well. I have seen some reviews that were disappointed about all the happenings that went on off page but for me that didn't affect my enjoyment of the story at all. This isn't a long book but we get enough of the world building and character building to enjoy the story. At first I was concerned at how quickly Owen turned over his submission but as the relationship grew and I saw more of how Crawford treated him it became very clear that Owen still held the power in the relationship. At no point was Owen's choice taken away from him about anything. In every step that was taken Crawford gave the decision over to Owen. This was a sweet story with little to no angst and a HEA. I'm looking forward to what's next in this series.

The power of choice allows love to blossom. This is a sweet and enjoyable story that has little angst and lots of love. I so enjoyed how Crawford always empowered Owen and allowed him to have choice. Owen chooses his submission and their dynamic is really beautiful.

i enjoyed the story-line and the world-building was good. The character development was great and i feel like i really got to know these men. I loved the trust that developed and how their love and trust brought them through some really tough things.

I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this sensitive
Reviewed in Australia on September 11, 2017
Really enjoyed this sensitive, light bdsm themed alpha/omega romance. The characters are well-rounded, likeable and relatable, and Owen's work as a counsellor for abused omegas sets up the possibility of further stories in this world between more alpha/omega couples. My only criticism is that once the relationship here is established and a potential pregnancy situation is on the cards things felt like they slid into place a bit too quickly and easily, with too little tension or angst. Will eagerly await future books in what I hope will be a continuing series.
