Off Limits: A brother's best friend college sports romance (Marycliff Football Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 1,916 ratings

She’s my best friend’s little sister …

That alone should be enough to make me keep my hands to myself. Knowing her brother’s extra protective should seal the deal.

But after Ellie turns up on our doorstep while her brother’s not home and falls asleep on the couch after a misunderstanding with her roommate, I can’t seem to stay away.

I’m not normally the kind of guy who only wants what he can’t have, but in Ellie’s case, I seem to be making an exception.

But how can I have her brother’s back on the football field while stabbing him in it the rest of the time?

Off Limits is a standalone college sports romance featuring a grumpy left tackle and his best friend's sunshiny little sister. All the feels and an HEA guaranteed!

There is nothing I love more than discovering a new to me author and Jerica MacMillan wowed the pants off me! Off Limits is a brother’s best friend/sports romance. It was so good that I read it in one sitting and laughed out loud hard while doing so. Simon and Ellie are university students. He’s a senior and on the football team working his way towards the majors and she’s a confused sophomore, still trying to find herself. As her brother’s best friend and roommate, Simon is off limits (even if he melts her butter). As his best friend and teammates sister, Ellie is beyond off limits (even if she owns real estate in his mind). The whole “off limits” thing becomes a mute point when the two cannot keep their hands off each other. I loved Simon. He is not your typical football player and I liked that about him. I liked that he wanted the girl and was willing go after her and willing to face the consequences of his actions. Ellie I liked a little bit less, but by the end of the book was rooting for her to get her man. Off Limits was a great way to get to know a new to me author and I look forward to reading more by her. TBR and Enjoy!

A sweet story. Ellie has low self esteem and not much of a backbone. She’s drifting thru college, doesn’t know what she wants to do and has very little emotional support from either her parents or her brother, Cal. Ellie and Cal are only a couple yrs apart, go to the same college, but rarely see each other or talk, largely due to Cal not wanting Ellie to hang around him or his football friends. He thinks he’s “protecting” Ellie from his jerk friends. Ellie just thinks her brother hates her.

Cal’s roommate and best friend, Simon, is a left tackle on the football team. He’s a big quiet guy, kind of an introvert and has been attracted to Ellie from the moment her met her but has stayed away due to Cal’s misplaced overprotectiveness. That all changes when Ellie ends up at their doorstep looking for a place to spend the night after a misunderstanding with her roommate.

Simon and Ellie first try to fight off their growing attraction and sexual tension but in the end, they give in. They agree to keep it from Cal and everyone else and sneak around to see each other. Of course, as they both get deeper into their feelings and the relationship grows, things come to a head.

In the process, Ellie finds her backbone with Simon’s support and after a little bit of angst, some misspoken words and the realization that they were meant to be together, Simon and Ellie find their HEA.

It’s dual POV, no OW, no cheating, a couple of interesting side characters that I hope appear in other books. It’s wonderful to see Ellie grow and become more confident in her decisions, and to realize she can stand up for herself. And Simon is just so sweet and patient and understanding. He’s perfect for Ellie and stays a good friend to Cal.

I struggled a little only because I like a lot more dialogue. The beginning lacked it and I was bored. Of course that’s just me. I enjoyed the plot.

Decent read. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. Easy, cute romance. I didn't particularly enjoy Ellie, I found her whiny and a bit selfish, but that's okay. I also didn't feel any chemistry other than sexual between her and Simon, but overall, your standard sports romance read. I'm unsure if I'll continue the series. It got a bit boring, but maybe one day .

Ok here we go. This book was great. Absolutely loved Simon! Though she really needed to grow a backbone. Really only wished for more of an ending. I mean what happened at the end if the year? Did he go to the combine? What about the NFL? Did she go with him? Are they still together? So many questions!! Will they be in the next book? Aside from my many questions this really was a good book & definitely one I would recommend if you're looking for a cute sports romance book. Think I'll read the next one in this series to see if I get any answers. So on that note, on to the next!

I got so bored reading this, the first 20% is okay, not good though, just okay. After that it was just so boring, the development is terrible, I don't feel like the writing is poor, just won't captivate you. I got myself skimming the last 10 chapters just to finish it. The only thing good about this book is that it is a brother's best friend ( and not a good one either ). Her parents are awful, her brother too overprotective, even her roomate in the first chapters was weird, she gives the worst advices, hard to talk to, just.. no.

Cal is a bit overprotective of his sister Ellie when she joins him at college. He doesnt want anyone trying to take bets on bedding her like his team did in high school and he doesnt want her partying either. Ellie seeks out her brothers house when her room mate asks for some time with her latest only its Simon who answers the door and they have a pleasant night watching tele and she falls asleep on the couch. Simon fancies her, she is gorgeous but Cal is his team mate an best friend. They cant keep away from each other and Simon falls for her big time. He comes across as a lovely man and clearly they should be together its just whether they are brave enough to tell her brother. Good read

Came across this book by chance. It’s pretty good 4 stars. It didn’t make me laugh out loud or cry so not 5 stars. It has a good plot. Interesting characters. Dual point of view in first person. Steamy scenes and a bit of conflict. Otherwise a lighter read with not too much detail about the football. I will be getting the next in the series.

Simon and Ellie. This was well written. Ellie has an over protective brother. He makes her life hard. Berating her in public. Its no wonder they have to hide thier romance. When she Ellie finally comes clean she relises that its not that bad, that her brother will get over it, and also understan how unreasonable he has been.
