One Hundred Reasons: An Aspen Cove Romance Paperback – March 1, 2018

4.5 out of 5 stars 3,707 ratings

A woman who wants to leave.
A man who has to stay.
And a love that won’t be denied…

Nurse Sage Nichols’ life isn’t going as planned. When a favorite patient passes away, Sage abandons her post for a few minutes longer than planned — and just like that, she’s without a job and a paycheck.

But Sage’s patient left her a parting gift: a creaky bed-and-breakfast in the heart of the Rockies. So, determined to sell the rundown property and return to Denver for a fresh start, Sage heads north to the mountains.

When Cannon Bishop’s mother died, he gave up his dreams of leaving Aspen Cove for good and returned to run the family business. As owner of the only bar and son to the town drunk, he’s got no room in his life for a woman. But when Sage Nichols breezes into town, she changes everything.

And if there’s one thing Cannon hates, it’s change.

Recruited by the local doctor, Sage finds herself more involved in small town life than she intended. But the warm welcome she receives from the locals does
not extend to the man next door.

Then trust sprouts unexpectedly between them and when Sage’s plan to return to Denver falls through, she is left wondering if her future might lie in Aspen Cove after all.

Sometimes love gets in the way of the best laid plans…

I love a small-town story where the citizens care for and take care of each other. This has all the characters and situations to make a good story. Having two people find love in this atmosphere makes their story that much sweeter.

When Sage goes in for her night shift in the geriatric ward and finds her favorite patient she has grown close to has died her grief is so much that she is away from her station for thirty minutes. She loses her job because her boss thinks she isn't suited to work in geriatrics. When she learns that patient has left her a bed and breakfast in a small mountain town. Her sister convinces her to visit and see what's there. Her first impression isn't that great when see gets punched in the face before she even gets through the front door of her house. She starts setting time lines for when she will leave but something always comes up to push the timeline.

Cannon has been working days in the bait shop and nights in the bar while wrangling his alcoholic father. He has no life and sees no future because he can't see his situation changing. When he meets fiery Sage he doesn't want to be attacked to her because he thinks he has nothing to give and can't risk his heart.

This was heartwarming and inspirational. I loved the way things worked out for Cannon and Sage. I have hope that his brother Bowie will find love as well. I will be reading his story next.

At first I was uncertain about Sage but once I saw her in Aspen Cove I was hooked. The pain, happiness, sense of community and the love in Aspen Cove draws you in and makes you fall in love with the characters and their tiny piece of heaven. Can’t wait to continue this series.

Where do I begin to tell you how good One Hundred Reasons is? It's the story of a burned out geriatric ward nurse named Sage. She is so dedicated to her patients and her job that it has consumed her life. After the passing of one of her favorite patients, Sage is devastated and put on leave and a transfer list by her supervisor. There is also a bit of a surprise left to Sage by her late patient, a home in the mountain town of Aspen Cove. Sage is on leave from nursing so she heads to this small town to see why her patient left her a home and why it is so special about this town her patient wanted her to live there. One of her first encounters is with a sexy but surly man named Cannon. Since it's a small town no matter how hard Sage tries she cannot avoid running into this exasperating man and to find out that he is her neighbor is the last thing that she expected. Cannon is a man consumed by his past. His life has not turned out as he expected. He owns and runs the only bar in town and feels as though he has been handed the short end of the stick in life. H doesn't have much faith in anyone, least of all the cute but unknown outsider named Sage. Kelly Collins has written a contemporary romance full of interesting characters, funny banter, tender moments and plenty of heat! One Hundred Reasons is told in dual POV and I highly recommend this wonderful story. I cannot wait to see what story unfolds next in this series!

A good heart warming story about two people who are trying to learn to live for themselves. She is a kindhearted woman with a Savior complex. Always needing to try to save people/animals. After having an emotional breakdown after the death of one of her favorite patients, she is put on leave from her job as a nurse. She must decide what she wants to do with herself and what will make her happiest. He gave up his dreams to take care of his father after the death of his mother. Fighting a losing battle. He has an armor surrounding his heart, after seeing what love can do to a person. Being the giver and savior that she is, tries to help him see, he needs to open up and live for himself, but can she take her own advice. After getting off to a bad start, these two enemies find themselves helping each other in more ways than one. The story moves at a slow pace (in a 'stop and smell the roses' kind of way,) yet reads rather quickly. The characters have some complexities. There are some up and downs they go through. For the most part it is lighthearted, but there are some serious subjects covered. Alcoholism, and domestic abuse, as well as death (and dealing with the death of a loved one.) There is some sexual content, but it is minimal and not too graphic. I'd say it is safe for 16+. There are some endearing moments (many involving the heroine's older, grandma like patient that had past away.) There are some humorous moments as well, though it's not a rom-com.

Introduces us to Sage and Cannon.
Cannon not liking change and unhappy with his lot in life after a family tragedy many years ago, had him chucking in his career and bringing him back to Aspen Cove to deal with the fallout.
A nurse in the geriatric ward, Sage is too involved with her patients and each passing of the elderly really affects her.
She grows close to Bea Bennett from Aspen Cove and after her passing Sage is devastated.
Being gifted a Bed and Breakfast from Bea, Sage heads to Aspen Cove to investigate and decide what to do with her life.
Cannon and Sage’s first few meetings are far from ideal but over time their attraction is undeniable.
A lovely story introducing you to the town residents and how a special ladies actions, on her deathbed once again breathes life into a tired old town.
Looking forward to the next in series.

I don’t quite know what to say. I loved this so much, but my brain refuses to cooperate with me and give me the processing capability to come up with more than: it’s so sweet, and so precious, and so a-freakin-dorable! I love reading small town books for the sense of community and family; a slice of classic Americana peopled with a cast of quirky characters that feel like your own relatives and friends. Be prepared for the full emotional roller-coaster, you're about to be taken for a ride because there will be laughter, there will be tears, there will be "squee"s and there will be "awe"s. I loved watching Sage and Cannon grow past their first impressions and all the baggage they’re carrying. I can’t wait to read the rest of the stories from Aspen Cove.

I have received an ARC of 'One Hundred Reasons' by Kelly Collins from Kindle Press via Kindle Scout.
'One Hundred Reasons' is a contemporary romance with mostly believable characters that one can empathize with. Sage, a fiercely independent young nurse working the night shift in a geriatric hospital ward, truly cares for her patients, but her own emotions are in cold storage. Then her favorite patient, Bea, dies, leaving Sage the ownership to a Bed and Breakfast in a small mountain town called Aspen Cove.
Sage visits Aspen Cove as the new owner of the Bed and Breakfast and meets the dashing and handsome Cannon, who is notorious for giving ladies the cold shoulder. Naturally, sparks fly when they meet and they are mutually attracted. So what happens in the end? And how?
As this is a romance novel, the end is predictable, but the telling is interesting, and the word pictures of Aspen Cove seem realistic.

When Sage is put on leave from the hospital she works at for caring too much for terminal patients after the loss of a dear patient Bea, she finds herself in Aspen Cove.
Cannon doesn't want to risk his heart and they both get off on the wrong foot.
Kelly Collins writes a magical and beautiful small town romance where the characters are all so likeable and beautiful and ruggedly handsome.
I fell in love with the story and Aspen Cove.

This is a reread for me. This is the series that started my love of small town romance. When one of Sage’s favourite patients dies it becomes apparent that she is in the wrong job and when the patient Bea leaves her a B&B in Aspen Cove, Sage decides to go see why Bea loved the small town so much. At first she can’t see the appeal and this isn’t helped when she finds her new neighbours fighting. She assumes that Cannon is in the wrong as he his fighting with his father Ben, but it turns out there is more going on than meets the eye. It turns out that Aspen Cove looks out for it’s own and Sage sees this when she is helped by the local Doctor and in how her new friend Kate is treated. When Sage gets to know Cannon she realises why everyone was telling her that he is a good man. The more time they spend together the closer they become (with a little heat thrown in), but then a misunderstanding gets in their way. It’s a good job Sage has decided she is staying in town and sets out to set Cannon straight. This was a great introduction to the series and I loved that the heart of the series was Bea’s legacy. Cannon was sad, lonely, loyal, passionate and kind. Sage had a beautiful heart, fire and brought light in to so many lives.
