Otterly Irresistible (Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild): a grumpy-sunny, small-town rom com Kindle Edition
Griffin Foster is done. Done trying to save the world. Done getting attached. He’s been fired twice for standing his ground and now he’s going to be content--by God--in small-town Louisiana, in a small veterinary practice, where there will only be small problems.
Until she shows up. Again.
The sunny, gorgeous optimist who stole his heart--and his favorite shirt--two months ago. Who clearly hasn’t heard the word “no” enough in her life. And who is the first woman to put even a tiny crack in his don’t-get-attached wall.
Charlotte “Charlie” Landry is the new marketing director for her family's petting zoo. It might not have been her plan, but she is all in, ready to grow the business. Whether the hot, grumpy vet likes it or not.
He doesn’t.
Worse, sparring with his unforgettable one-night stand is more fun than he’s had in a long time.
But watching wears-designer-dresses Charlie find her dream job amongst a bunch of goats, alpacas, and otters is a surprise.
And her helping him find his passion again is...well, irresistible.

From the Author
She loved every single thing about this petting zoo.
"Oh, I'm not going anywhere," she told him. "I'm definitely going to help."
He sighed.
Feeling suddenly lighter and happier than she had in a long time--and that was saying something as she was generally light and happy, not to mention on her way to Paris soon--Charlie turned back to the animals.
"Okay, now that we know each other better, how about you all be sweet and head back to the barn?"
Not one animal even looked at her.
"Hey, Stan?" she called to the big goat. "You're clearly a leader. How about you show me that you can do some good with all that staunch determination and lead everyone back to the barn?"
"You can't be serious," the guy said. "Talking to them isn't going to work."
"Talking is what I do."
"No kidding."
She just lifted a brow. "So what should I do instead?"
Maybe he could give her an opening for charming him into putting that very nice, smirky, sarcastic mouth against hers and...
"Nudge 'em," he said simply.
Now she blinked at him. "What?"
"Nudge them," he said again.
"Just... nudge them? As in, push them?" She narrowed her eyes. Were they talking about goats? Or were they maybe talking about grumpy farmers who needed more than a subtle flirtation to make a move?
"Sometimes that's all they need."
Okay then. She was going to keep that in mind.
"So..." He nodded toward the goats.
She blew out a breath. Okay, so for right now, they were talking about goats.
Charlie approached the smallest of the animals.He--or she--looked up at her. "Hello, I'm Charlotte. Would you please accompany me across the street back to your barn?" She heard the man's snort even from a distance. That made her smile even though she was still stuck with the problem of herding goats.
The goat, of course, didn't move a step.
"I would very much enjoy it if you would grant me the pleasure of your company across the street at your barn," she told the goat.
This time the goat didn't even lift his head.
Charlie propped a hand on her hip. "I don't feel that we know each other well enough for me to actually put my hands on your body, so it really would be easier if you would just head in the general direction of your barn."
"For God's sake." Suddenly the man was back beside her.
He bent and lifted the goat, and Charlie couldn't help but think this had worked out very well.
She hadn't had to touch the goats, but she hadn't been entirely unhelpful to him.
Okay, that wasn't true. She had been completely unhelpful to him. But she hadn't left him out
here with the goats alone.
The man pivoted and pressed the goat to her chest. Instinctively her arms went up and around it. He let go.
And just like that, she had her arms full of goat.
Charlie gasped, partially in surprise and partially because it only took her a millisecond to think about the fact that she now had a barnyard animal up against her Alex Perry cocktail dress.
"You have to be kidding," she said to the man.
"When nudging doesn't work, sometimes you have to get hands-on."
Charlie blew out a breath. She was tucking that away in her idea of how to handle him too. But she was preoccupied at the moment.
And not so sure she wanted to kiss him after all.
No, that wasn't true. She still wanted to kiss him. Especially now that he was standing closer.
Even if she had to kiss him over the back of a goat.
Which probably meant she really wanted to kiss him.

Goats, and otters, and veterinarians oh my!

- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2021If you’ve read any of my reviews on these bayou books, you know that I’m totes in love with the rowdy, outrageous Landry clan. They live life out loud and love even hąrder, but despite their well-meaning interference, nosiness, and maďcap shenanigans, once they welcome you into the fold, you’re family for life.
The new wıldlife vet Griffin Foster, is part of the Landry clan already. He just hasn’t figured it out yet. We met Griffin previously, and I knew it would take a special gal to chısel through his walls. Dr. Foster gives the Grınch a run for his money, walking around with all that broody grumpiness.
Until it comes to animals, that is. Some of the best scenes in the book are when he puts on his Dr. Doolıttle cap and chats with the critters. And let me warn you, mess Griffin’s animals at the risk of his wrąth, and that's something you do NOT want directed at you. Although it's pretty hoţ to witness. You'll see. *wink*
I adore personified animals in romance reading, and I was in hog heaven with the goats, pig, duck, cat, etc. And otters. Gah! The otters! Move aside, main characters, because these otters have stolen the show! And Griffin with them? Double gah! A strong, manly man cradling a sweet, mischievous critter to his chesț? Oh mama. Yes, please!
Charlie Landry spent her summers in the bayou with her Landry relatives, so of course she goes back when her cousins are getting married. Not to each other! It's a multiple wedding, not redneck nuptials. Charlie and Griffin get to know each other a little, which is a monumental task and tantalızing challenge from Charlie's standpoint. They share a, shall we say, brief interlude and Charlie leaves for her big-time marketing job in Paris. Annnnd, two months later she’s back in Autry, LA, as the new veterinarian assistant slash marketing director for the Bayou Boys Gone Wıld petting zoo.
I adore Griffin and Charlie so, so much! Charlie is my shero, and she's just what Griffin needs. She has a way of challenging him, yet supporting him, and manages to get Dr. Stick-in-the-Mud to see things with new eyes. And Griffin balances Charlie's impulsiveness and sometimes emotional actions. They save each other from themselves time and again, and they balance each other perfectly.
This phenomenal romantic comedy is, hands down, my favorite book from the bayou boys and easily takes a spot on my top five reads for the year. It’s laugh-out-loud-snort-your-drink and absolutely-don’t-read-in-public hilarious. It has so many tender, heartfelt moments that it gave my emotions the most exquisite of workouts. If you read only one rom-com this year, make it this one. Otterly charming and utterly bewitching, this is one amazballs read you absolutely don’t want to pass up!
P.S. If you’re wondering why many of the revıews are so effusively profuse, it's because this book is *that* good and we just can’t shųt up about it!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2021I would first like to say how much I have thoroughly enjoyed finding Erin Nicholas’s books! I first started with the “boys of the Bayou” series. Which I absolutely loved! I can definitely tell you I can’t even to this day tell you which one of the books in that series was my favorite. So far I have loved them all. Ms. Nicholas has in each book given each one of her characters their own special & unique ways of telling you about each of them & leading you to each have at least 2 or 3 good hot/steamy, & fun/funny scenes while also giving us as reader a great story. I’ll say this though I am a girl who likes things in the book to have a great balance of hot & steamy scenes in the books I read. As well as being very well written characters which I feel Ms. Nicholas books do 100%. I think that is why this book disappointed me. Now otterly irresistible is the 1st of the “boys of the bayou gone wild” series which is the next chapter in this crazy, funny as heck & one of the most loving families in a book that I have I had the pleasure of reading in a long time. I was very much looking forward to this 1st book Otterly irresistible specially After reading all the reviews I was even more excited,! Women saying things like I laugh out loud it was so funny, I was so happy to see Griffin develop and change. Watching how Charlotte helped him to grow, Finding out what had caused him to lose his last job etc.. Where if you have been reading the other books you pretty much could’ve figured out quite quickly what must’ve happened at his last job. I am not going to say I did not enjoy this book. I definitely did the characters were cute the otters as everyone pointed out are very adorable but if you’ve been reading this series you should already be madly in love with them. I know that Griffin talks to them when he thinks no one‘s listening. I thought sugar who you’ll find in the first three pages of the book was very funny and a very jealous yet entertaining goat. However I think they could’ve used her a little bit more. Or maybe given us a scene where she mets her new goat boyfriend for the first time I think I would’ve even enjoyed that a little bit more than some of the story. I know everybody is not like me and doesn’t like hot and steamy scenes. But if you’ve been reading this series and are hoping for more like the other books with a balance then don’t get excited! There is only 1 very mild scenes that happens in the beginning of the book so be prepared to be very disappointed there are no more then hot kisses & that 1 scenes. When my gosh there could have been some great things that happen btw these two. It would’ve been really nice to hear how Griffin felt during one of their romantic hot scenes other then the 1 they have. Don’t get me wrong it is a very intimate same but it’s not that kind of sex. I mean it wouldn’t have ended the world After they became a couple to have more intimacy. So if you’re expecting that just know you’re not going to get it. I am very much hoping the next book that is about two characters I very much look forward to reading about will be much better than this book was. It’s why it only gets four stars the writing deserves four stars. The author deserves four stars. Why it’s not getting five stars for me is these two characters are really lacking in that area of the book. There is a paragraph or two that talks about the fact that they are sleeping together every night and are heading down the path of fall in love with each other if not already in love with each other but that’s all that say nothing more. so you don’t get to see what’s going on behind those closed doors. And I’m not just talking about just sex. She could have written any heavy making out scene that leading to when it was over a conversation between the two or thoughts of what was going on in Griffin‘s head or even Charlie’s but we don’t get any of that like we have in any of the other books for this reason I was deeply disappointed. I’m not saying to skip it because each book is 100% worth reading and should be read in order. But if you’re looking to find something beyond cute little otters that you’ve seen in all the the books then the otters i’m not laugh out loud funny moments. The Goat sugar is funny griffin he’s is very cute and adorable with all the animals Charlie’s idea leads into other very cool animals joining this crazy group of animal loving people and just know you’re in for a story more about the love of the animals then the love of the two characters. I say this because we all already knew Charlie was going to be able to give Griffin some thing no other woman has ever been able to do so before. So The author could have given us the animals plus some very personal intimate moments between Griffin and Charlotte a.k.a. Charlie it would have been balanced and a heck of a lot better & I know well done. But again just this girls point of you. I really hope Fletcher and Jordan story will be a better Balance of some very open fun conversations as well as hot & steamy scenes. Specially since we know from all we read in the first series and now definitely at the end of this book Otterly irresistible we know how much that Fletcher has always truly been madly in love with Jordon. Seems to me this is a girl deserves a lot of action and words. And I’m sure over the years Jordon has been giving a lot of words and not enough action. Plus with Fletcher being sad & too afraid to show Jordan physical action I hope he shows her that action beyond friendship. he definitely needs to show her he still is and always will be her best friend it’s time to saddle up or as they might say, get into your airboat and whisk her off her feet. So I just hope it doesn’t take 10 chapters before we see that. Again read this book just know you might be disappointed like me.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 otterly deserved stars!!!!
Every time I take a trip to Autre, Louisiana I fall more in love with the crazy Cajun family that lives there - and even though Griffin Foster was not ‘technically’ a Landry, he’s been adopted by them and is now considered one of their own.
Griffin was a real grump, but when we found out about his past experiences in the career he loves and why he ended up working with Tori as one of the local wildlife vet, you got why he was better with animals that he was with people. Lordy, his interactions with the otters in particular, but the petting zoo animals in general, had me chuckling and gave us a little insight into what was going through his head when it came to Charlotte.
Charoltte ‘Charlie’ Landry wasn’t used to hearing the word no... and when you experienced what a whirlwind she was when it came to her ideas and and you saw how easily friends and family got caught up in her plans, it was easy to see why she got away with getting her own way for so long... she was so easy to like and get on with. Her reasons for being back in Louisiana when she should have been miles away working made me want to high five her!!! :)
The connection between these two was there from their first meeting - and how funny, as well as hot, that was!! They just worked and even though Griffin wasn’t looking for a relationship and Charlie was trying to work out what was next in her professional life, I liked that they both brought out the best in the other and made each other want to be more.
This story was packed with the things I come to expect and love about an Erin Nicholas book... There were laughs, humour, love, sense of family and belonging, loyalty, chemistry and heat and when this pair got together the sexy times were red hot (and amusing at times!). We caught up with some of the other couples and family members and I’m so looking forward to finding out what’s going on with Fletcher... thankfully he’s up next in the series!
This was a fabulous start to this next chapter in the BotB story arc and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
5 wild, otterly deserved stars!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved the banter!
I loved the banter between Charlotte/Charlie and Griffin. It sparkles and drips with flirtation in the first part of the book. There are so many characters it was a bit hard to sort everyone out, but the story is sweet. It was a little short on steam for me, and perhaps a bit scattered in the second half, but it gave me good feels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyable book
Thoroughly enjoyable book!
We've already met many of the cast in other books, which is great, as they're all such characters.
Charlie and Griffin had me smiling from the start of the book until the very end. I laughed at the flirtatious banter and cheered this great couple on.
Great characters, fast moving: a happy read!
