Review
I devoured this book. I had issues with it, sure, but I couldn't put it down. It's BDSM, done right! It's hot m/m/m action. It's TWO Dominants. It's people with real lives! Yay! \o/ -- Joan/SarahF, Dear Author, "B" Grade & RECOMMENDED READ
About the Author
L. A. Witt is an erotica writer who is said to be living in Okinawa, Japan, with her husband and two incredibly spoiled cats. There is some speculation that she is once again on the run from the Polynesian Mafia in the mountains of Bhutan, but she’s also been sighted recently in the jungles of Brazil, on a beach in Spain, and in a back alley in Detroit with some shifty-eyed toaster salesmen. Though her whereabouts are unknown, it is known that she also writes hetero erotic romance under the pseudonym Lauren Gallagher.

She now resides in Pittsburgh, where the potholes are determined to eat her car and her cats are endlessly taunted by a disrespectful squirrel named Moose. In her spare time, she can be found painting in her art room or destroying her voice at a Pittsburgh Penguins game.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2013Ryan "Angel" Morgan and Dante James have been a couple for twelve years while running a successful photography business together. With both being Doms they find their need for a submissive satisfied with an occasional three-way. While on a wedding job they last thing they are looking for or expect to find in the man that grabs both their attention. While working on the job they keep their attraction to the bride's brother under wraps. While working they both try to get to know the brother while still being professional.
Jordan Steele has no problem training his stallions and letting them know who the master is. When Jordan hires Angel and Dante to do a photo shoot for his horses the last thing he really expects is for their dominate personalities to call to the inner submissive in him. When a photo session with some flirting goes in a way no one expects all bets are off.
Angel and Dante are more than happy to show Jordan the ropes...and the whips. Once they all get past the initial stage the sexual chemistry heats things up to the boiling point. While they all enjoy the attraction between them things get complicated once the emotions of all three men get involved. The attraction could turn into the relationship they all need and become permanent but if they are not careful it could turn upside down and leave one of the men the odd-man out.
This is wonderful story that delves into BDSM and what can happen in a ménage. Reading about the emotions and how the characters navigate their feelings for each other gets the reader emotionally involved in the story and will have readers hoping that these three men are able to find a way to make what they have found together work. While this story line will not be for some readers the emotional storyline will be enjoyed by readers and will have them mourning the ending of this story.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 20133.5, rounded up to 4 stars because, gawd, the sex was damn hot! Very enjoyable read, although I admit that it took me a while to finish. While there are moments of sheer brilliance in the writing (and I'm not just talking about the MMM sex), the beginning dragged for me. The setup was just too long and the MCs seemed almost juvenile, and I put the book down for several months before deciding to give it another try. I'm glad I did. It's almost as if the next 2/3 of the story were a different novel entirely.
No need to go that deeply into the plot since the blurb basically says it all: long-term hot guys (photographers) who just both happen to be Doms find a hot sub to share and get more than they bargained for. The story is well-written, and the shifting POVs were well done and clearly delineated, so I wasn't wondering whose head I was in all the time.
The backdrop of the photography business seemed realistic and Ms Witt did a wonderful job describing the photographs themselves (not an easy feat). I could imagine some of the shots in my mind's eye (including some of the racier ones). There's an amazingly hot scene with the three MCs in the photography studio that was wonderful. I know nothing about photography, but I got the sense that Ms. Witt had done her homework (or knew about how the business works from experience). The three-way sex was probably the hottest MMM I've read, and the BDSM angle (although not all that hard-core), was a terrific addition.
That said, the hands-down best sex of the book was between the two photographers and long-time lovers - not as much meant as a hot sex scene, but as an expression of their deep love and commitment. The way Ms. Witt described their lovemaking was moving and hot as hell. Not hot in the same way as the Dom/Sub/Dom stuff, but sexy romantic and wonderful. Ms. Witt did an amazing job of showing us the depth of the emotional connection between Dante and Angel. The emotions she conveyed were visceral and poignant. The way these two partners reaffirm their love was so beautifully done, it will stay with me for a long time (and will stay on my "keepers" shelf).
The only things that kept me from rating this book above a 4 star were the slow beginning and the ending, an epilogue that did far more telling than showing.
MILD SPOILERS AHEAD:
After so much should we/shouldn't we angst from the three men, I wanted much more. We see very little of Angel, Dante and Jordan's interactions a year later, since most of the epilogue is written in narrative style. I didn't want to hear about how having a long-term menage relationship was challenging, I wanted to SEE the challenges for myself. I get that it's a challenge and that most menage relationships don't stand the test of time. I wanted to know what the challenges were. Yes we know that that there were challenges because one of the threesome was new to a long-term relationship pair. But how was that a challenge? Was there jealousy? How did Angel and Dante bring Jordan into their loving fold? Did Jordan have doubts? How did the three meld their BDSM lifestyle with their love relationship? How did Jordan grow as a sub? We hear about their travels , but we see nothing of it. Dante and Angel had traveled the world. How did they share that with Jordan?
I understand the need for closure, but I'd have been fine with no epilogue than a glossed-over one. After the brilliantly written love scenes at the end of the story, it was a let-down and just felt rushed. Still, the book is an enjoyable read, and the sex is hotter than hot.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves hot menage with a long-term, loving relationship at its core.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2020I read a lot of books, some I buy, but since a lot of the MM books are closer to the $5 range, I use my Kindle Unlimited subscription. That being said, yesterday I saw yet another recommendation for Out of Focus by L. A. Witt - M/M Fiction and added it to my Kindle Unlimited library. I started it last night as soon as I finished the book I was reading. Not even halfway through and I was back at Amazon purchasing the book and the audio version. It is absolutely amazing. If you are on the fence about it, jump!!!
The scenes between Dante, Angel (Ryan), and Jordan are a real scorcher. What I appreciate the most are the small touches that occur between the men. It's the contact that is comforting and done without thought that I find really sexy. I also like the art aspect of photography that is talked about throughout the novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Out of Focus - so good!
Out of Focus was recommended to me by the fabulous Nicole and man she got it right! You have to like MM and hello, I do. I was surprised at how enjoyable this book was, full of great characters. The smut was fabulous, the emotion well delivered and the pace kept me reading, ignoring the day around me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well written. ;)
Ryan & Dante are both Doms, & they meet Jordan at a wedding where they worked as photographers. Jordan ends up hiring them to take pictures for his business. One thing leads to another, & they develop a relationship together where Jordan is their sub. Ryan & Dante have taken subs before, so this is fine. However, things slowly become more intimate & tender amongst all of them, more than any of them ever anticipated.
What happens when two of them fall in love?
What happens when three of them fall in love?
The bond between all three of them becomes something more than they ever thought it would, something stronger than any of them have every felt before.
They went into this threesome as a safe way to just have some fun. But what happens when hearts get involved?
The rule of thirds wins the day, both in photography and in life....

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot menage action x
This was absolutely perfect...I loved it....Dante and Ryan/Angel are two Doms in a long term relationship and they meet Jordan at a wedding where they are the photographers.....I loved all the MC's in this so much.....Angel..wow I love his nickname...won't say how he got it.....But he is just a dream....Dante...again a gorgeous name although he bottoms for Angel he's no sub...two Doms you wouldn't think would work but they do...Jordan is also a great guy...he runs a ranch.....horses which he trains and an ex boyfriend Eli who just won't leave.......I actually loved the fact that Eli was there because the way Angel kept having a dig at him was hilarious....totally loved those parts...It's quite an easy read.....no real angst and all three were perfect together....A must read and I also bought it in paperback before i'd even started it......x

3.0 out of 5 stars Out of focus
Irgendwie bin ich den Personen nicht richtig nahe gekommen. Erst passierte lange gar nichts, dann kam viel Sex und am Ende langes Zweifeln. Der Sex war jetzt auch nicht wirklich steamy und eher bdsm light.

4.0 out of 5 stars on the button
This is a good read - written from one character's perspective then another, but I found it easy enough to follow. Not a huge plot, but with this twosome to threesome it worked, you got background, emotion, will he won't he and I found it quite believable. An enjoyable read with three excellent main characters, good sex and well written - plus a biggie for me, no typos! And in case you didn't guess - they were all damn gorgeous to boot LOL My second Witt and I shall be reading more.
