Overtones (Songs and Sonatas Book 6) Kindle Edition
He’s the antithesis of the standard Disney version—
Broody.
Sexy.
And my best friend’s new brother-in-law.
Now he’s whisking me away on an epic road trip, turning a fantasy into reality. On the surface, it seems like a terrible idea—I mean, I’ve sworn off men and I’m trying to rehab my undeserved reputation as a flirt.
A maneater.
A slut.
But how can I say no to a guy who only wants to make a simple wish come true?
Then there’s a snowstorm. A night alone in one hotel room. Undeniable chemistry.
Suddenly a road-trip fling sounds like another wish he can grant. Simple. No strings. And a loophole in my no men rule.
There’s a finite end date and no way for feelings to get involved.
Right?
If you love road trip romance full of undeniable attraction and scorching hot chemistry, grab this epic opposites attract romance today!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2019We originally met Lauren in Double Exposition and is friends with Gabby and Jonathan. She is outgoing, sassy and the complete opposite of Brendan, Jonathan’s brother.
Brendan is the drummer from Brash and from the moment that he meets Gabby he is intrigued. While in conversation she confides that she has always wanted to skate in NY so when he suggests a road trip to fulfill her dream neither was prepared for what would happen next.
Spending so much time together the chemistry between them ignites but they both agree that it is a casual fling that will end when the trip does, the only problem is they didn’t make that clear to their hearts. Their lives and dreams are taking them in different directions and we anxiously await for the second part of the duet to see if they can make their way back to each other.
There is so much more to Lauren than first appears and the only one to see it is Brendan which makes the connection between them that much stronger. Filled with emotion, heat and angst I look forward to more of this incredible couple.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2021I totally enjoyed reading this book. This series just keeps getting better and better. I have loved each and every one of these stories so far. I have already gotten the last two books in my library just waiting for me to sit down and enjoy!!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2019I love this series, and I’m so happy to finally read Lauren’s story! We’ve seen her in previous books, as the loyal friend and confidante to Gabby and Charlie, but we didn’t know much about her until now. What she presents to the world ... the happy-go-lucky, flirty girl always ready for fun, isn’t always the case. She’s sworn off dating and hookups, at least for this last year at university, to focus on figuring out her life after Marycliff. But when Brendan enters her life, whisking her away on an impromptu road trip, she begins to fall hard. He’s the first guy to truly see her and want more. Brendan is curious about this beautiful, funny, outspoken girl, especially when he gets glimpses of what she’s hiding beneath her facade. And despite his intentions to keep things casual, because that’s all he has time for, he can’t help but fall for her.
As always with this author, the writing is crisp, emotions are conveyed beautifully, and the chemistry between Lauren and Brendan is off the charts hot. I’m anxiously waiting for the conclusion!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2019I love this series and Overtones is a fantastic addition!
I loved Lauren and Brendan’s story!
They were fantastic characters and had amazing chemistry! It was so hot I’m surprised my kindle didn’t burn up! Overtones is a funny, sexy, hot and wonderful! The banter between Brendan and Lauren was amazing! I loved it! I can’t wait for the conclusion to Lauren and Brendan’s story!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2020Well, they're not famous, or, well he isn't anymore, or, not much anyway. She's friends with Charlie & Gabby, he's Jonathan's brother, they shared a road trip & had a fling. That's all it was spose to be, but....the heart wants what the heart wants & neither of the stubborn idjits will admit their feelings. Grrrrr!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2019Jerica does it again! Just when I think the series can’t get any better, it DOES! Lauren and Brenden have amazing chemistry and their fun banter is perfect! Ready for the next one!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2019Loved this Book.
This is part One of a duet, I have been eagerly waiting these books, excited for Lauren's story to play out. The Sassy friend of Gabby in the Songs and Sonatas series.
This first installment was everything I could have hoped for, where at Gabby's wedding Lauren agrees to go on a road trip with Brendan, the drummer from the band Brash and Gabby's new husband Jonathan's brother. Whilst chatting and flirting Lauren reveals one of her dreams is to go ice skating in New York.. The next day they are on the road and taking an adventure into the unknown. Where they discover more than they bargained for, a friendship and a electrifying attraction to one another. So an agreement is set for a road trip fling, no strings sex and when the journey is over so is their fling... Easier said than done.. When both feel like it is more than a passing fling but are too stubborn to admit it.
I absolutely adored this book, Jerica takes you onto a very passionate journey with Lauren and Brendan, a sexy, sweet and Romantic trip that had my heart laughing and at times breaking to, as we see a vulnerable side to Lauren who has always had a reputation as a Maneater, she always appeared so tough. But actually is quite the opposite. Brendan and Lauren start to break down eachothers walls, but quickly put them back up again when the trip ends. They frustrated the hell out of me.
I cannot wait now for book two, I am so excited to know how the rest of this story will unfold, Brendan and Lauren are great characters and I want nothing more than for them to have their HEA.
Excellent writing yet again from Jerica Macmillan, I highly recommend this book and this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2019I’ve always enjoyed Lauren, a key supporting character in prior installments of Jerica MacMillan’s Songs and Sonatas series. I always figured that she had to have s backstory that explained her personality and that made her complex and interesting. Well, now, in Overtones (Book 6), Lauren finally gets her turn. Her romance with Brendan (who has also appeared previously) is a really well told story that’s both layered and fun. Frankly, my only criticism of this book is that it’s the first in a two part story arc. I really hate waiting for a story that I’ve invested so much in to continue. Other than that, and but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed, I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to Reverb, the next book in this series (and conclusion of this particular duet), which is scheduled to be coming on March 25.
