PANDORA'S POISON

LUISA:

I had every woman’s dream: the gorgeous, successful, brilliant husband; the picture-perfect family; the pedestal marriage.

...Until one day, I risked it all for a handsome stranger.

A torrid affair, an unplanned pregnancy, and four years later, my husband Darren and I are finally on our way to healing and forgiveness…

Until karma comes back to bite me in the ass.

A chance encounter with my ex-lover Gianni reveals the child I kept from him, and now he wants to be part of her life -- and mine.

But she already has a daddy.

...And I already have a man to whom I owe everything.

DARREN:

I’m the lucky bastard who actually got to marry the woman of my dreams.

But somewhere along the way, I took Luisa for granted.

Maybe it was my obsessive work streak, or maybe -- just maybe -- it was my inappropriate friendship with my employee Nicole.

Luisa thinks I have feelings for Nicole -- and I don’t; of course not. There was just that one moment of insanity that swiftly -- and thankfully -- came to an abrupt end when her husband Kris walked in.

But now I’ve lost my best friend. And my wife is spending time with her ex-lover, while he visits with his daughter… my daughter.

Is that all Gianni really wants, or is he still in love with my wife?

    I give Pandora's Poison (Hart & Cole Book 2) by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné, 4 stars.
*Spoilers from book one are contained in this review*

Darren Hart is a self-made rich and powerful man. He loves his job. And he loves his wife, even if he doesn't show it anymore. Even after her affair and the child by another man, he has stayed by her. Their relationship has not been good in a long time, but he doesn't want her to go. He is a man who gets what he wants, and he wants his wife and children.

Luisa has had enough. That horrible night was the last straw. She cannot do it anymore. But she is told that her chance of custody in a divorce is very slim. She has been a stay-at-home mother to a rich and powerful man for too long. So she has to bite the bullet and go back home. She can go back to work and make her chances better. But he says he wants to make it work. Does he really? His snide comments tell her otherwise, but this is the almighty Darren Hart. And what does she really want? What about the child's father? Now that he knows, he wants to see his child. But is that all he wants?

This was a very complex book. I will be honest, I liked this one better than the first book. The complexity of these people were so intriguing. We met Darren in book one, but did not see too much of Luisa. In that book, she was just the wife who cheated and became pregnant with her lover's child. Darren was the "victim". In this book you learn just what brought her to it, and the guilt she has lived with ever since.

This is a book about the darker side of relationships. Everything is not always sunshine and roses. In my opinion, it can be read as a stand alone, but you would probably see things better reading book one first. If you don't mind your stories a bitter darker, this book is for you.

    Hart & Cole Book 2
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

WOW! She did it again!! Sacha is killing me with these books! I loved the second book in this series just as much, if not more than the first book. Again it was a rough start for me but as I kept going the story got more and more intense! I would definitely recommend reading the first book before tackling this one, as it gives insight to the characters in the second book.

In this story we get to see Darren and Luisa’s lives, and how the events in the first book are affecting them as a family and married couple. I love that the story is told in both point of views, this way I can get a feeling for both characters and how they are feeling and what they are thinking.

Luisa makes me so mad. She is irritating and not in control of her feelings. Do you love your husband of 12 years enough to fight for your marriage and try to overcome all the obstacles you have faced together? Would you rather sneak around with the man you had an affair with 4 years ago and ruin any chance at keeping your family together? She goes on and on about how she loves her husband and then when he sticks around even through her infidelity, because he does love her and want to keep his marriage together not only for him but the kids as well, but she continually throws Nicole in his face and then still tries to hide her relationship with Gianni. She doesn’t hide her relationship so much as the relationship is now out in the open, but she keeps their conversations private and to me that is still terrible because of Gianni’s feelings for her.

Darren is not innocent in all of this, but he is still pretty bad off. From the first book we know he is in love with Nicole even though he won’t admit it to himself. It does irritate me that he continually thinks about her and has the nerve to complain about Luisa’s actions. I hated how he kept saying Nicole was the one who ruined his marriage when really it was his own fault as well as Luisa’s and they dragged Nicole and Chris into their mess. In the end Darren gives Gianni a proposition and I am overly excited to see how it all plays out.

Overall this series has been a completely fantastic read. The length of the books kind of threw me off at first but, I promise reading this series all the way through will be totally worth it. I finished this book in 2 days and was devastated when it ended. I will be eagerly awaiting the 3rd book.

Pandora's Poison is book two in Hart and Cole series by Sacha Fortune. This series is amazing and is a must read. I was so excited to read the book and was not disappointed. Book 2 you get to learn more about Darren and Luisa. I was really surprised how much I ended up liking Darren. His Charter is really great. Him and his wife Luisa are having a ruff relationship with some issues and he is being wonderful and trying to work things out although he's far from perfect I feel Luisa is lucky to have him. Luisa has been a stay at home mom for a few years and Darren is a workaholic so she was taking care of 3 kids on her own and dealing with some issues herself and not having her husband around played a big role in the way things played. This amazing series will keep you engrossed and you wont be able to stop reading!! I can not wait to read book 3!!!! So many amazing people in her books I don't want this Series to end she could write 12 books in this series and no one would be tired of reading about them. The only issue with Pandora's Poison ending is having to wait for book 3 to come out :)

PANDORA'S POISON is book 2 in the Hart & Cole Series and I strongly recommend reading the first before diving into this story. I don't recommend this as a stand-alone. I went into this series blind, based on the cover image alone and it has not been what I thought it would be.

This is such a complex story. It is multi-dimensional and complex, just like life, and as we see both sides of the story (it's told in dual pov) it gave me insight as to what made them tick and be who they are.

This is not a light and fluffy series. It's detailed and dark as well as refreshing that it's not the same old "meet-cute, first kiss, HEA" kind of story. This series doesn't necessarily follow a formula which makes it interesting. I wasn't sure what to expect and I'm glad I didn't have any preconceived notions.

I recommend this story, this series and this author.

Pandora’s Poison is the second book in the enthralling Hart & Cole Series by Sacha T.Y Fortune. After reading the first instalment of this wonderful series, and Ms. Fortune’s brilliant debut novel “Climbing the Walls”- I knew I was hooked and there was no way that I wouldn’t be diving into the other books as soon as I could lay my hands on them. I cannot begin to describe the story in a way that will do it the justice is deserves or without giving away spoilers. But, I really recommend going into the series ‘blind’ and letting the author and story blow you away.
From the beautiful covers, to the multidimensional characters, intricate storyline, and brilliant detailing- this book ticks all the boxes. It is such a realistic and relatable woman’s fiction story that takes us on a journey through the inner workings- love, obstacles, insecurities, trust, forgiveness, doubts, pressures, infidelity, passion, and pain- that go into making a relationship/marriage work.
This is the second instalment, so I really recommend reading the first book before beginning on this one, because the story continues from one book to the next, as well as character introductions, pertinent details, and backstory- which are laid out in the first book.
There are intense moments, dramatic details, touching scenes, passionate encounters, believable dialogue, with complex and interesting characters who easily draw you into their story and into the rollercoaster ride that is their relationship/s. It was intriguing, emotive and incredibly well written. Can’t wait for book #3 to find out what happens!

    Thank you, Ms. Fortune!
