    First off, "unusual" shifters are my favorite. Penguin, polar bear, narwhal, beluga, anything outside wolf, fox, dragon or bear really (ok yes polar BEAR but still, shh) and I am on board. Then the whole pebble thing is like... You don't understand... That is just peak romance. I can't explain it in words but it hits my SOUL.

    📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Lewis has been in love with his best friend Todd since they met, but polar bear and penguin shifters don’t cross lines to mates.

    🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: I could take out all of the strange shifter stuff and just tell you this was a super cute, against the odds friends-to-lovers romance.

    But the weird stuff was the best part.

    I’m always a huge fan of writers of shifter books where they come up with crazy stuff that just works. Amy Bellows created a world for shifter penguins and polar bears filled with fun customs and a lot of tension. Add one pretty crazy egg laying scene, and I’m hooked.

    If my TBR wasn’t booked for December, I’d immerse myself straight into this series. But I leave no doubt I’ll be returning to it in the coming weeks.

    This book will pull you in from the first pages and not let you go. Love between a penguin and a polar bear? Penguin mate for life; polar bears go from one short term relationship to another. Penguins have a rigid set of rules and traditions; polar bears have traditions to, but are artsy, free- spirited folks. You will laugh, cry and stare in wonder as two men sacrifice long- held beliefs to achieve their HEA. You will love this book!
    This is Todd and Lewis's story. Todd is a polar bear who makes the magical mating necklaces for penguin couples, and is in to gaming. Lewis is a penguin, also in to gaming. Their friendship was not quite forbidden, but unique to say the least. It will take them 6 years and a lot of learning on both sides before Lewis is eligible for his Pebble Gifting Season. And Todd intends to be the one to give Lewis his mating pebble.
    Since penguin and polar bears don't normally interact, convincing their family and friends they are serious takes some doing. But with the help of a loyal, if quirky, friend, they make it happen.
    There is steamy, forbidden sex, but you have to wait for it. Well worth the wait! There is nesting and a hatching. And a twist at the end. It will capture your heart. You need to get this book!

    This was an absolutely adorable story! It had the amazing ability of the power of love when the couple is willing to put in the hard work to back it happen. It is a bit of a slow burn romance as it develops over many years, though much of that is off page with highlights told for each period. This made for a beautiful story told over the course of a long romance developing through all of the unexpected challenges.

    This book focuses on differences and moves to the similarities and misconceptions. The polar bear and penguin shifters live in the same town but don't interact. Polar bears are artistic, passionate, and therefore unable to settle down or commit. Penguins are loyal, analytical, and in that seen as cold with their single calculated pairings. As Lewis and Todd become friends they build something beyond those set beliefs. When they start becoming romantically inclined they have to work beyond their misconceptions of each other's traditional foundations to find what they are to each other. The loyalty and planning brings just as much to the relationship as the passion and loving community do. Combined they have the chance to make an amazing and new thing but Lewis and Todd have to truly work to do that. Reading about their commitment and love, their willingness to learn new things and work hard to build a life together, was an amazing and well built story! Excellent!
