The Pet Stylist and the Playboy: An MM Unrequited Love Romance (The Hedonist Series Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 546 ratings

Dante's planted me solidly in the friend zone, and I need to move on.
That's what Swish, or rather, Isaac, finally tells himself before moving out of the biker clubhouse that's been his home for the past couple of years. He's been in love with Dante since the day the tough biker found him homeless and miserable in a gas station restroom, but Dante's never shown the younger man anything more than brotherly affection. So Isaac takes a live-in job working in a privately-owned animal shelter where he can continue his pet stylist business. When Dante starts hanging around Isaac's place, acting jealous and sending mixed signals until Isaac doesn't know what to think anymore, Isaac decides a little indulgence in his secret penchant for lace might clear up the question of whether Dante really wants to be friends…or maybe he’s ready for something more.

Swish and Dante were wonderful. Swish has overcome a lot in life, some with Dante’s help, and now he’s working things out for himself and finding new family and life direction. Dante made a promise to his family so it’s time for him to step up but also time for him to work himself out and what he wants. I loved Swish in Morgan and Zeke’s book and this didn’t disappoint in any way. Rebecca James tells a story so well you don’t want it to end - this was no exception.

I love Swish! His name really is Isaac and he is just the best guy. I love how big his heart is and how he gives so much to those around him. He has this attraction to Dante that made my heart hurt for most of the story. The author did a good job creating these characters and giving me, the reader such strong feelings about them. The story flowed well and the story-line was engaging.

Dante was a selfish man through most of this story. He does finally get his act together and become a loving partner to Issac, but he myopic self-centered view of his destiny really irritated me. This story had some really funny moments and moments that made me cry. I really enjoyed the read of this book.

i really enjoyed the time spent with the club members and i am so looking forward to Blaze's book next. I have liked his character since the first book so i am looking forward to learning more about him.

I LOVE this series so much and this one was my favorite so far. I laughed, cried, and enjoyed the warmth of blooming love. Swish was everything. He is the kind of character that is my favorite. Strong, amazing, underestimated, and hilarious. I adored his heart so much. There were countless times I wanted to smack Dante on the head and tell him to knock it off and see the gift you have.

    This was an outstanding read

Rebecca James is a competent author. She has a knack for creating unlikely romantic partnerships. In Book 1 it was a wealthy, young, orphaned, male ballet dancer and a hard-working, biker mechanic. In this book it is an abandoned-at-birth, young pet groomer and a secretly wealthy, philandering biker. The story behind Book 1 worked, but this story In Book 2 seemed too contrived. Swish/Isaac is a sweet, streetwise younger man trying to make a life for himself after an awful early upbringing. His amour is a secretly wealthy, "love 'em and leave 'em" self-centered biker who has promised his cold, distant parents he would return to the fold when he reached his 30th birthday (which was fast approaching). That plot line alone demonstrates some essence of incredulity to this story. Dante is a grown man making it on his own since graduating from college. Why kowtow to his socialite parents now? Another laughable plotline involves the family's immense wealth and social status. The family owns THREE luxury-auto dealerships and they are living like billionaires! In order to amass that kind of wealth you would need to own hundreds of dealerships. Another disturbing factor is Isaac and Dante's relationship. It is on thin ice throughout the book, as Dante is a bisexual man-wh*re and has never considered being partnered with anyone. Issac, on the other hand, has been in love with Dante for a couple years. He allows himself to be used as Dante's sexual plaything while not being the benefactor of his romantic affections. That makes this story even less believable. There are several other SMH moments, but those stuck out for me. Suffice it to say, as all MM romances go, everything works out in the end with a HEA, but with Dante's track record, I highly doubt it.

I loved Swish and Dante. They are so full of questions and repressed desire that it can be painful to watch. The passion when it finally ignites is explosive and totally hot. They both have a hard time being real with one another and that almost destroys them both. I am heartbroken for Swish/Isaac for the things that he has been through and the loss that he suffers. Dante has a lot of thinking to do and realizations of what exactly he wants his future to be. I love the way that everything comes together for them and the support that they both have from the friends/family around them, even when being pig headed. I can't wait to see more of the Hedonist MC.

Swish (Isaac) has lived with the Hedonist Motorcycle Club for two years. Dante found him in a gas station bathroom and gave him a place to stay. Swish is in love with Dante. Since they share a room, Swish knows about Dante’s numerous partners, men and women, he's not picky. Every time Dante brings somebody home it hurts him a little more.

Swish decided he has to move on from Dante. Moving to a private animal shelter where he can grow his pet grooming business. When Dante starts to work there too he is surprised to learn that Swish isn't really his friends name. When he becomes Isaac to Dante, he's know he's in trouble. He's never thought of Isaac as any thing but a friend, maybe even a brother. Spending so much time together is making Isaac fall deeper in love. Dante knows he feels something but also knows his freedom is coming to an end on his birthday. Their time together developed into a very hot relationship.

He left Isaac to go work for his father but keeps coming back. Slowly breaking Isaac’s heart. His decisions leaving Isaac no choice but to cut him out of his life.

I didn't care for Dante for most of the book because I felt he was a selfish butthead. Using Isaac and justifying his behavior by citing family obligations. There was more information on the Hedonist’s, rounding out their stories a little more, which was nice. Overall I enjoyed it.

Oh wow, this author made me want to reach in the book and kick someone in the nether regions, ehhem, Dante. My poor little heart couldn't take all of the heartbreak Isaac had to endure. Of course, he got his HFN, but man did it hurt on the way there. The ending was good, especially because I like series when we get updates on the characters from previous novels. Ha, at Zeke's news, too funny. Looking forward to book #3!

4.0 out of 5 stars Really emotional
Reviewed in Germany on February 3, 2022
While the cover looks like an 80s rock band, the book was pretty good because it was an emotional rollercoaster. Most of the time I wanted to push some sense into Dante and I felt really bad for Isaac. The steamy scenes were really hot. There were some typos.

    Very much enjoyed this book.

Swish is just lovely and charming and makes you want to give him a bear hug. Dante needed a kick in the shins through most of it. Not because he wasn’t likeable but because he was so concerned about his parents that he didn’t take care of swish the way he should.

This book pulled out all the feels and I admit I got misty eyed at certain parts!
    Bring on the next one!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good solid steamy story
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 26, 2018
I have to say i don't like one of the main characters in this story, and I preferred the couple in bk 1. I really liked Isaac in this story, he found the security he was looking for and Dante was the screw up and can I say a really immature 30 year old. In fact to me i couldn't work out how he got threw as a prospect as at times in this no it seemed he had no balls. I think that's what let it down from being 5star to 4 I just couldn't comprehend Dante at all at times and wanted to slap him, he wasn't good enough for Isaac. When you think of a biker story you would expect the biker in question to be in charge of his own life and being free to live as he wanted. Not so much for Dante he comes across as a shiny 21 year old, whereas Isaac had to struggle to survive before they meet. In the end you found yourself just wanting Isaac to have what he wanted, even if it was Dante.

Can we please have a strong biker in book 3 ,

Can Zeke be the strong character you would expect for a MC president in book 3 please?
