Playing To Win (Ice Kings Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,302 ratings

It was a three-week fling. Nothing more than a couple of college kids having some fun, but then I did the stupid thing and fell for Jude Taylor quicker than he can score a goal on the ice. And after one beautiful night together, he left for the pros before I could make my first cup of coffee.

I thought I’d put him behind me. I thought I’d moved on. Then he hobbles into my physical therapy office and I realize how absolutely wrong I’ve been—there’s no getting over Jude Taylor.

But now things are complicated. Jude lives half a country away and his career is in direct opposition to my need for stability. Most of all, getting involved with him could mean losing my job and everything I’ve worked so hard for.

Jude doesn’t seem to mind one bit and he’s all in. He might be a patient in my office, but he’s no longer the patient guy I remember.

This time, he’s playing to win, and the prize he’s looking to score is me.

A wonderful start to the series!

A wonderful start to the series!
What does it mean when you have a three-week fling with someone in college and still can't get them out of your thoughts years later? What happens when that someone walks into the place you work and the sparks are still there and they aren't one sided? Well, I'll tell you, it makes for one hell of a spicy second-chance romance! PLAYING TO WIN is exactly what Jude lives for, he loves to win on the ice and now he is aiming to win off of it as well when it comes to winning Kate's heart. Kate doesn't make things easy for him though because if they get caught socializing it could cost her her career because it's unethical for a Physical Therapist to become involved with a client at the practice she works at, even if he isn't her patient. This was a great start to the Ice Kings Series and I for one cannot wait to watch each of these men fall to their knees for the right woman. If you enjoy Sports Romance, Second Chance Romances, or even just a great Romance that has lots of heat and is low on the angst I would recommend this book to you. Happy Reading!!! **I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine's Obsessed with Books**

With the first book in her new hockey Ice Kings series, Stacey Lynn knocked it out of the park and delighted this reader with PLAYING TO WIN! The character development is strong, the chemistry is steaming hot and the likability of the characters is off the charts.

Jude is an attention grabbing character right off the bat. We get to see his vulnerable side from the beginning as he is handed the details about his injury and what it's going to take to get him back out there on the ice. It just so happens he gets sent home to Chicago to rehab ... and to the very clinic that "the one that go away" works as a physical therapist.

Katie is easy to like. She and Jude weren't anything serious back in college, but only because just after he finally got her to agree date him and they shared their first amazing night together, he ran out the door to go make his dreams come true. She hasn't forgotten him over the years ... but she also hasn't changed her mind about wanting to live a settled down life in a town she loves.

I highly recommend this reunion story of past college sweethearts. It's fast paced and has a good cast of friends and family in the mix. I'm looking forward to more to come in the series!

Overall, all I thought it was a good read. Nothing really happens between Judd and Katie…except they pick up where they left off over five years ago. No real drama happens, except a little work place situation and the fear of “what will happen” to Judd and his place on the hockey team. Liked their overall connection to each other and enjoyed following them during their journey to a HEA!

Hockey Players are people, too. Such a fun read. As an only. Marrying into a big family can be daunting. You gotta just breath in dive right in. You just maybe connect with your father-in-law and a bottle Berryjack kept under the kitchen sink. Cheers.

The story between Katie and Jude is amazing.
It is simply a real lovely lovestory and I enjoyed the read.
The icing on the cake would have been, when he would not only have knocked on the glass at his "returning" home game but also would have shot a goal and throw the puck to her, like in the beginning :)

Awesome hockey lovestory I can recommend

4.0 out of 5 stars A sweet and sexy read.

Playing to Win, the first in Stacey Lynn's new Ice Kings Series was a great read, and a nice second chance romance as hockey player Jude Taylor returns to Chicago to recover from a serious injury and reunites with his ex Kate 'Katie' Carter with whom he had a three-week fling before leaving for North Carolina and the Ice Kings five years ago.

And it was certainly a sweet and sexy read. That also had little angst, and some great supporting characters, and I was easily absorbed throughout. Not to mention it was nicely paced and well written and quite honestly as starts to series go I thought it was a really enjoyable and entertaining one which is why I would happily recommend it to others.
