Possessed (Hades Castle Trilogy Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 3,926 ratings

I'm struggling with my evil side—the demon known as Lilith—and only Samael can help me. Unfortunately, he thinks we're dangerous for each other—just because we murdered each other in past lives. And even worse, he believes he has to marry a mortal to keep me safe. A genuinely terrible mortal woman, I might add.

But with the Free Men growing in power, we must join forces to stop their evil army. As we journey through Albia searching for them, we are drawn even closer together, bound by desire and our twisted love.

As far as I can tell, one of two things will happen: either we will overcome our past, and defeat the Free Men together. Or our dark history will have us turning into monsters and tearing each other to pieces. I'm hoping for the first one.

A must-read trilogy!
A huge thank you to @cn_crawford for my ARC. When The Fallen came out I couldn’t put it down, and pre-ordered Rapture as soon I could.... Rapture was incredible and ended with a HUGE plot twist. 🤭 Possessed was captivating, sexy, and oh my... the twists and turns between Samael and Lila take you on an emotional roller coaster. This trilogy is definitely one of my new favorites by C.N Crawford. What an ending....

I spent the beginning of the book wanting to smack Samael. But this book was a joy to read. Spicy, funny, full of adventure. A fabulous ending

The final book in this trilogy doesn’t disappoint as we now have Lila dealing with Lilith, while Samael struggles with his dreams continuing to tell him he needs to marry a mortal to become King of the Fallen and not a demon. A fate that he was going to fulfill with Lila by his side until Lilith came into the picture. Now we have the atrocious Harlow, seriously one of the most obnoxious women, who seems to be the one he is destined to marry. But as Lila and Samael work together to free herself from the Mysterium Liber and the hold that the Free Men have over her, the question becomes, will they be able to walk away from each other as fate seems to have predestined. But fate is up to interpretation, isn’t it? And not always what we expect. A solid, and sexy finish to the trilogy, with some new characters that are a lot of fun (looking at you Thura), some familiar and fun characters (Sourial and Emma - would love to get a little story of these two!), and some surprising twists.

CN Crawford writes some of the best romantic fantasy offered today. Her worlds are always a treat, carefully created, part reality, part fantasy, all wild imagination. And then there are her characters. They feel, at times, classic, rooted in the world's traditions, but with distinctly modern and quirky edges. Descriptions demand your attention, be they the clothes that feel distinctly out of place and yet, perfect. Settings spark your imagination with dust motes dancing in hazy sunlight, or a dusting of snow filling the grooves of cobblestone roadways. One thing is certain, you're never at a loss for imaginative landscapes in a Crawford world.

In Possessed, the third novel in the Hades Castle Trilogy, she kicked it all up a few notches.

Lila is now fully inhabited with the demon Lilith. She's hanging onto control, fighting the call of the Freemen as well as her desire - and Lilith's hatred, of Samael. Her internal dialogue is snarky, filled with dry wit. With Lilith cohabiting within, Lila is ancient and wordly. She's tired and not afraid to let her opinions and derision of the world's idiocy be shared. And Samael, the Venom of God, is fighting his desire for Lila, which will result in his becoming a demon. To this end, he decides to marry, and his bride isn't his fiance Lila. He finds he can't keep his hands off of Lila, even as his nearly-newly chosen bride to be is planning their wedding. I'll bet you thought your relationships were complicated.

All of this is set against the backdrop of the coming battle. Prophecy tells of blood flowing in the streets should Lila and Samael marry. Another prophecy also states that might not be such a bad thing. This puts the fallen angel and the human/demon between a rock and the hard place of all those who may be friends or foe.

The highest of fantasy and fairytale is part imaginative story and part parable and commentary on current events. Possessed falls into this category. You can certainly read it as pure fiction, but it's hard to miss parallels to recent world events. Either way, this is another of the reasons that CN Crawford remains one of my favorite fantasy writers.

Awwwwww 🫠 that’s what the ending felt like. This series had my heart soaring. Lots of action. Loved the twists. The only thing I was a little bothered by is the two in one body. Samuel is in love with two even if he loves Lilia more? I mean during their 🌶️🌶️🌶️ scenes she saw his love for Lilith! I don’t know if that was to keep Lilith at bay during spicy time. It wasn’t a deal breaker and I do overall get it but I did find it odd…but I’m not one to share sooo it might just be me 😆 I love how the authors have beautiful quotes that stand out in all their series. “People thought death was bad and life was good—but there could be mercy in death, ruthlessness in the will to survive. The two things went together, like Samael and me.” How beautiful I that?! Very, I say. Sad the series ended but excited to continue my journey through the Crawford universe.

Such a great story told by a great storyteller. People are never all good or all bad, lots of gray . I have to say I did not feel a charitable demise for Harlow. I guess if I could find fault with anything it would be a certain character wanting to be made royal and that was the reason they agreed to a marriage, so it seemed like there wasn't much build up to of changed their mind about the reason. It seemed as though they gave up one goal for another overnight. I would of liked to of known a bit more backstory to ..... and .... (Sorry no spoiler names) as well. You don't get "radicalized" overnight. Other than that I think the story was actually pretty relevant and a bit eerily too close to similar events going on in our country now. Different from you = other\evil. If only people could read a book and have self perception as easily as in a story. Good VS evil is not nearly as cut and dry as most people think.

Overall, I did enjoy this trilogy although, it didn't quite live up to what I THOUGHT it was going to be when I started it.🤷‍♀️
    .
Again, I love Lila and Samael's relationship all through the highs and lows. The only problem is I didn't quite FEEL all those highs and lows. 😔I don't know what was lacking but it was all just a bit middle-of-the-road for me.
    .
I did like how the story reflected on good vs evil and how it's not always easy to tell which is which. It's actually quite hard and you need to have an open mind to see, not just what's in front of you, but what's hidden underneath. I did think that was a beautiful message. 💚
    .
The ending was sweet 🥰 and if you're into fallen angels and Lilith, Leader of the demons. You should give these books a try. I will never NOT recommend a book because 1 story hits everyone differently and you may just love this one!

This last book keeps all the magnetism of the previous ones and grips the reader from the very start. It’s underestimated to say that this is an amazing narrative, whatever adjective used won’t show how great this story is. It keeps the fast pacing rhythm, incredible settings, where the reader could easily wanders about. I’m already missing Lila and Samael.

Thé action continues as Sameal has to marry a mortal and that can no longer be Lila but does it have to be that irritating swine Harlow urgh
The free men still threaten life in Dovran and tension continues to mount with the threat of Lilith ever looming and the book still out of their hands

It was super tense with twists and turns and some great new characters
Over all it was perfect and Sameal ... aah le sigh
