However, Marklus soon discovers the kingdom in the sky is a tomb of death, full of mist and shadows. The immortals are hiding a

I finished reading Prison in the Sky by Angela J. Ford and it’s probably one of the most light hearted and beautiful stories I’ve read in some time.

Fantasy can be dark and overbearing to the end. But the beauty in this novel with all the love and hope and healing intertwined was just so refreshing and it lit up my heart.

I LIVE for Noble Bright fantasy like this. Fantasy akin to the lightness and beauty of Narnia. Gah! I could gush about it all day.

I’m a sucker for a beautiful and happy ending and this one didn’t disappoint.

    I absolutely loved it!!!

Ms. Ford is a long standing writer, but this is the first of her work that I have read so my connection to the previously introduced heroes is not complete.
We meet Marklus and Crinte, who are not exactly warriors, at the end of a devastating war. They are both tired and battered and the only thing they wish for is time to relax and come to terms with the aftermath. They do not feel anything close to being heroes, yet everybody else treats them as such.
Then the Rangers of the Slutan appear with their prophesy and then there is Marklus's obligation to the Mermis. We also meet their treacherous king and his obedient daughters. Marklus and Crinte save them but the price, for Marklus at least, is very high.
The story moves rather slowly but the prose is good although the general atmosphere is rather dream-like. The end is satisfactory. My only quibble is the grandiose style that promised more than it actually delivered action-wise. The reasons given for certain actions were not adequately explained, in my opinion, and I felt that some solutions were a bit improbable. A good read, all in all, but it lacks in action and suspense.

An excellent fantasy that takes place in a well created world with strong realistic characters. The well written storyline is excellent and includes plenty of action, magic, and mystery. A book that was very enjoyable and highly recommended.

This is a story you don't get to see often. It is in many ways an epilogue to The Five Warriors. Written in a beautiful, epic style, dream-like prose, this story gives a glimpse of what happens after the epic battle. It's not just "the baddies were defeated and everyone lived happily ever after". Tolkein's hobbits were never really able to return home because home no longer existed. War changes and devastates things. This story is Marklus' journey to put just a little but back right.

Words said out loud brought a strange power and became closer to being true.”

Marklus (the healer) and Crinte (the wise) are back in a story of travel and courage that goes beyond expectations. Marklus must travel to Spherical, the home of the Mermis, an immortal race that is dying off. He is torn between needing to save them and letting them be at peace. What’s the best outcome here. And what about the budding relationship between him and Melair, the king’s daughter. Should he stay or go? Where does his heart lie?

We first met these two in Five Warriors Author Angela J. Ford can write the most beautiful prose, that at once inspires and then shakes the reader all up, confusingly presenting an adventurous love story. I’m a fan. Highly Recommended 5/5

First, I would like to say , "I love this book"! I felt I was there with Marklus the Healer and Crinte the Wise on this journey! The two best friends are journeying to Spherical, the homeland of the Immortal Mermis people who are dying from a curse sickness. Marklus has sworn to try and save the Mermis at any cost before they die out completely. This is such a well written story and it flows from chapter to chapter. I felt excitement, treachery, love and friendship in this book. I enjoyed it thoroughly. If you are looking for a book with exceptional characters and grand adventure, then this is the book for you! I highly recommend this book to all fantasy lovers! ...(I received this book free from the author as an ARC and I am voluntarily giving a true and honest review).
