Prodigal (Scattered Stars: Conviction Book 6) Kindle Edition
Her fleets are scattered and her enemies victorious.
Apollo’s last hope: an exile mercenary coming home at last!
Ace pilot Kira Demirci fled her home system of Apollo five years ago. Betrayed by her own government and one step ahead of enemy assassins, she smuggled a squadron of star fighters into the Outer Rim and forged a mercenary fleet of old friends and new alike.
Many of the aces of Apollo’s war against Brisingr weren’t as lucky.
Kira has a new home, but a scheme hatched by her enemies has brought her to the edge of her old stomping grounds. This close to Apollo, she’s one of the first to hear the devastating news: Brisingr has achieved its ultimate victory and captured her home. To take a star system should be impossible, but the reality is clear.
With family, friends and old comrades in the hands of the Brisingr Kaiserreich, Kira mobilizes her mercenary fleet to seek out the scattered remains of Apollo’s fleets and allies.
Even if she can manage the merely difficult and bring the broken factions together, the hard truth remains: Brisingr's victory was impossible. To undo it, Kira will have to duplicate it...

- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2023It's always sad when a favorite series comes to an end. I greatly enjoyed reading this series, and am kind of sad to see it wind down, but I have loved every minute of reading each book. I don't want to give away too much, but the tension ebbs and flows, and the surprises (both good and bad) are often emotional rollercoasters before they resolve. Very well written, lots of action, excitement, and just enough of a cliff hanger to leave room for another series in the same universe if the author decides to do so.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2023The TLDR for this book would be that its a solid finale to the series with the same action and adventure that's been built up over the previous 5 books. Like many Glynn Stewart offerings its well written and has a solid plot. Because of that I'd give it a low 4 stars.
The longer review is difficult to put together without revealing too much of the plot of this tale. I can say that the ending was both a complete anticlimax and played once again to a very credulous crowd willing to believe that the Equilibrium Institute had truly limitless money and at the same time terrible overall management and tactical sense. There are events that occur in this book that don't make any logical sense if you don't accept several assumptions that Glynn has built into this universe. Honestly I don't, but I have been willing to ignore the problems and just enjoy the overall story.
But while I enjoy the story, I can't say I love it. Its not terrible, but when I compare it with other epic space operas this one had clear issues with pacing, plot and character. That's why I note that I give it a low 4 stars. Its good enough that I'd recommend it to most people, but at the same time, i think there are much better books out there.
That's about all I am willing to say. I refuse to argue about the potential politics and culture aspects of Glynn's writing. Those did not play a major role in any part of the plot, so they can be left out of the review.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2024Looking for a very light read from an author who I have read before and enjoyed the whole starmaged ship mage series. This 6book series was just fabulous. Simple, straightforward, full of surprises really great. Swashbuckling space Western.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2024Book 6 was an exciting and natural extension of the series. The buildup to the stirring finish was well crafted and logical. The action sequences were strong and satisfying. The ending was surprising and could lead to another twist for the characters. I will be happy to read a Book 7!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2023Brisingr did the impossible, conquering the Apollo System. Can Kira Demirci and Memorial Force also do the impossible and free Apollo?
Kira must forge an alliance with enough firepower to retake Apollo before Brisingr can refortify the system. Who pays for and commands the Allied Fleet? Kira has a lot to do, little time and very large egos and enmity to deal with.
With the Equilibrium Institute lurking in the background, you know the fight will be full of unpleasant surprises. A very enjoyable read showing a different side of Kira as she finds finances and allies.
I’m always a bit sad when a series I’ve really enjoyed ends. I hope that there will be a follow-on series where the Equilibrium Institute continues to be thwarted and finally brought to justice for manipulating and trying to control humanity’s expansion into the stars.
I received an ARC and purchased my own copy to support the author.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2024Hang on to your shorts. This has to contain one of the most thrilling and climatic battle scenes I have read. But first, Kris, now an Admiral, must survive long enough to somehow assemble allies and a battle fleet to attempt retake her fallen home world Apollo, against overwhelming odds.
As usual, the author's characterization is superb with interesting and entertaining dialog. The pace of this dramatic final book kept me glued to the end - enjoy
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2023I liked the theme of Kira being a person who built bridges to bring people together, to work toward a peaceful conclusion and a more democratic government.
The ending, with Kira being asked to give up everything to marry the new Kaiser, not liking so much.
A follow-up series continuing this future might change my mind, though. 😁😁

5.0 out of 5 stars Started strong, finished stronger
So, this book is not perfect. There are multiple instances of improper grammar that should really have been caught in editing, mostly involving the use of a singular when a plural was required.
For the first ~75% of the book, it was a solid continuation of the story, and I was thinking of giving it 4 stars.
So, why am I giving it 5? Because of the last 20ish percent of the book. It contained some of the best space combat descriptions we have seen from this series, but that's not all. The conclusion of this story is great. Hands down one of the best conclusions to a series I've read in the last while. I greatly wish there was more to this series because I see the potential of where it could go, but I also understand that this is a good place for it to end.
Well done Glynn, well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Thrilling End !!!!!!!!
The book starts off slowly with the Tension and anticipation building up slowly and slowly with a few battles and intense action taking place Culminating in the Last Battle with the ending of the BOOK being the Best and most unexpected TWIST of the entire series!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars an amazing climax to the story so far
Glynn once again knocks it out of the ball park, novas it into the next system. With out giving spoilers this one will have you page after page wanting to know what's next.
For me I hope we get more of memorial and our 'Em Kira in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Conviction Book 6
I really enjoyed the whole Conviction series.
I feel however that there is still a lot of mileage of mileage left in this series of books. I feel that there are a ends which are not properly tied up.
For instance, does Kira accept Konrad's proposal, and if she does, what does the future hold for them? Perhaps that could form the basis of another series of books!! Hopefully it will!!
Anyhow, a good series of books !!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the end I expected
Well a good finale to this series. Some twists that were not expected. Enjoyed the chase and payoff of the plot. Makes you think of the end what happens to Redward Apollo and Brisingr moving forward. A new power base of mutual benefit in the outer sector??? How will Kira get time to meet her namesake?
