The Promises We Keep (Made for Love Book 1) Kindle Edition

3.9 out of 5 stars 57 ratings

The promises they keep reveal who they are and define who they want to be….

Beckham and Addison are the picture perfect couple. High school sweethearts, still lost in love as they prepare to enter their senior year of college, marriage is a dream that weighs heavily on both of their hearts. But while Addie is trying to wait patiently for a ring, Beckham has a different proposal in mind. The decision he makes is laced with good intentions, but his journey to self-discovery may cost him the only woman he can imagine being with forever.

Grayson and Avery are just friends. While everyone tries to convince them that their study dates and late night hangouts are proof positive that their feelings are much deeper than they’ll admit to each other, they’re stubborn in their resolve to hide in the safe zone of friendship. But when Grayson’s best friend and Avery’s twin sister face hard times in their relationship, Grayson begins to question whether or not surrendering to his heart’s bidding—consequences be damned—is what love is all about.

Beckham, Grayson, Addison, and Avery learn that in romance, all they need is love—except for when life is way more complicated than that.

I really enjoy this book. The 4 person POV can become messy, by here it was carried out smoothly and handled very well. I love that God was at the center of the characters thoughts and decisions. But I also appreciated that ever single character was flawed and vulnerable. They were delightfully relatable and I will be staying tuned for the next book! Great love story! Great read!

This is a lovely story about the journey of Addison and Avery (twin sisters) Beckham (Addison's boyfriend) Grayson (Beckham's best friend/roommate) and Claire and Jackson (Roommate of Beckham and Grayson) We also meet Sarah, Roman (Love him!) Daphne, Trevor and Logan along the way.
This was a really refreshing, uplifting, emotional, faithful, romantic and at times angsty story fulll of love and friendship.

Addie and Beckham are "that" couple. Fated. Meant to be. Solid. Until they're not. Beck decides to step out on faith and make a very tough decision that puts his and Addie's hearts in despair and their relationship on the line. Will he find the answers he seeks? If he does will it be too late? Will Addie still be there or will her path lead her to someone else?

Grayson, star quarterback who I have to admit is my favorite (sigh and swoon) he's had a rough and disturbing upbringing and he wasn't loved the way he should have been. Those past scars still haunt him and sometimes show through his actions. He doesn't believe he's good enough for Avery but she wants to be the judge of that. They fight hard and they love harder. I thoroughly enjoyed these two falling in love but is love always enough? Will Gray let his past dictate his future and can Avery deal with those consequences.

Jackson and Claire.....I love them!! They're such a strong and beautiful couple, that are Incandescently in love. They're starting an amazing new chapter in their relationship and it's so exciting!

As our close knit group of friends go through their journey they meet some new friends along the way. Friends that help them mature, grow and question certain things.

I really enjoyed the dynamics in these friendships but there was one in particular that I didn't care for. Logan. There, I said it. Lol.

At times the multiple POVs had me a little whiplashed but it didn't take away from the story.

The Promises We Keep was a poignant, heartfelt, and creative tale with an important message. I think my favorite relationship was between the twins, who call each other, "their other halves" they had each other's backs no matter what and share such a special connection.

I truly enjoyed R.C's writing and writing style. I'm also so excited that I can recommend and openly talk about a book with my grandmother.

This story was about a group of friends all told from their own POV. So that was nice to be able to understand each of their sides and feelings. It was about twin sisters Avery and Addison and their journey through college and one of the sisters falling in love and the other sisters love life put on hold.
It had great flow going back in forth through each character. And you really understood each character. While this would be an amazing book for some who are more religious. As there was a lot of talk about God and bible it just wasn’t for me. It’s not that I don’t believe in God. I just wish there would have been a warning in the synopsis saying that it was very religious base.

Received an advance readers copy in exchange for a honest review.

I want to say the this book was good and told the beautiful story of couples and the challenges that they go thru and some of those kept me on the edge of my seat to see what would happen next. I am glad that things ended well and would like to see this as a movie soon.

    Honest review!

I've thought a lot about how many stars I wanted to give this book. Four stars won out.
I'll explain why in a bit.

Beckham, Grayson, Addison, Avery...they were awesome characters. I loved how they developed through this book and I didn't even mind the confusion about the break-up and all because I have to admit that it was a bit vague for me. I think it's because I don't normally read a book where religion is so BIG. I mean I have read books with a lot of religion in them but this one was all about GOD all the time. And that's okay. I got through it even when I wanted to just go to the end already.

The four of them left a good impression on me and I have to admit I loved Avery and Grayson more. They made more sense than the other two.

The reason I gave this book four stars was because this SHOULD have been two separate books. It left me confused on so many levels. I didn't know who she was writing a lot of the time. I had to check very carefully for who was it about this time. And it is really difficult to get into a book when you have to do that all the time.

I would have enjoyed it more and surely gave the book five stars if only the author made the separation between the stories. There are plenty of authors that write about two stories happening at the same time only in totally separate books.

I think this is a good book for someone that wants to read about a clean, christian romance.
