Psycho Romeo (Ward Security Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,920 ratings

Geoffrey Ralse is known for being the life of the party.

He loves the club scene, hanging with his friends, and flirting with whomever catches his eye. He certainly isn’t going to stop living his life just because some would-be stalker starts sending him threats.

But it all changes when Geoffrey is drugged and wakes up half naked in his own home with a new message from his stalker.

He needs help and there’s only one person he trusts…

Bodyguard Sven Larsen has been fighting Geoffrey’s flirtatious advances for months, even though he’s impossibly drawn to the man. There’s no way he can be around him twenty-four/seven and not finally crack.

But one look at Geoffrey’s haunted eyes, and he knows there’s no way he’s letting Geoffrey walk out of Ward Security without him.

Even if it means breaking his own rules, he will keep Geoffrey safe.

The Ward Security Series is a spin-off of the Unbreakable Bonds Series.

Trigger warning: There is a very short section with sexual assault that some could find upsetting.

Wow! This one sucked me in right from the start. The two authors did an excellent job of balancing the romance part of the story with the suspense part of the story.

That said, this wasn’t really a full blown suspense storyline. The stalker problem was rather secondary but it did weave in and out of the romance portion of it. And after finishing this, I find I understand the title of the book now. ‘Psycho’, very apt in this case.

Ok so, I’m really bad at writing reviews for books I actually enjoy. Ranting about an unsatisfactory read? I think I’ve got it down pat. Definitely have room for improvement though. But writing a review for a book I thoroughly enjoy? Sorry, I don’t seem to have the skills 😖

I guess this is one of those times. I liked the contrast between Sven and Geoffrey’s character. One is a social butterfly while the other is a bit of a recluse. I liked the interaction at the beginning where Geoffrey was trying to get to know Sven by asking him questions about himself and Sven basically giving him monosyllabic responses with no way to draw more from him. 😅

I will say, the storyline is actually very simple. But they definitely nailed the execution. No overbearing “macho male”, no simpering “less macho male”. In fact, it could have gone that route because Sven is a giant of a man and Geoffrey is really quite tiny. I suppose this isn’t ABO genre but really, when has that stopped authors from stereotyping. So I’m really glad there wasn’t this issue thrown in the mix.

Also, there’s very little angst here, other than the stalker problem. It would be easy to add manufactured drama just to spice things up but I’m so glad there wasn’t any such nonsense here! 🤩

All in all, I’m definitely going to try this entire series. Fingers crossed! 🤞

I loved the main characters Geoffrey and Sven. Individually, each is a walking cliche to some extent (which they recognize and find humor in) and together, a dichotomy that is both hilarious and sexy at the same time. The plot is dark, but not as dark as it could have been, which is nice because, frankly, as a woman, it is hard to be subjected to rape topics. Had Geoffrey's character been a female I don't think I could have read this without trauma, and while I did have sympathy for him when the online world turned on him, part of me felt like, "See boys? This is what a woman deals with every time." I also had a hard time believing that only one person would be assigned to watch over Geoffrey in a location that had already been compromised by the assailant. It was obvious that this was part of a greater series as there are so many other characters involved, but for the most part, JD does well in limiting the scope of the story to the two MC's. Definitely kept me at the edge of my seat until the final confrontation.

Great book with well developed characters. This is my first book, so now I am going back to read the others that came before, but you do not need to read any other books to understand the story. (Hope that makes sense.)

Geoffrey is a millionaire that is lonely, so he goes to clubs and hangs out with friends making sure to document it through social media. Sven is a bodyguard that has a body that will not stop and is quiet to Geoffrey's exuberance. But really both men are lonely and interested in each other after meeting at one of Sven's self-defense classes. When Geoffrey realizes he has a stalker, Sven is assigned to protect him. And boy, does it heat up from there. These two men are made for each other. I really love, that while Sven does save the day, Geoffrey protects himself on multiple occasions showing that he not a weak, sit by and do nothing, type character. He was not a damsel in distress. He needed help, he got it, but by goodness he was able to protect himself. I think this was an important part of the story. Not just for Sven but for Geoffrey as well.

This story hits on so many problems with society today. If someone has a stalker, people don't take it seriously. If someone posts inappropriate things on the Internet - on their own or against their will - people are quick to degrade and blame the person/victim. These are behaviors that need to stop. The video in questions - Geoffrey says No multiple times, but it doesn't stop the public from making the horrible responses of "he had it coming" and "what did he expect." No one deserves that. No one.

Loved the part about the stools though.

I look forward to seeing the next installment. Here's hoping it's not too long from being published. Fingers crossed.

Another wonderful collaboration between two very talented authors. I am a huge fan of the Unbreakable series and the new Ward Security series is going to be just as good.

We met Geoffrey in the Unbreakable Series and all of the die hard fans of that series was looking for his story......and boy was this ever good and so worth the wait. With Geoffrey picking up a creepy stalker, he seeks the help of Ward Security, specifically the tall, gorgeous Sven. It was amazing to see the shift in dynamic between the two. There was an amazing story here and the twists and turns were written especially well.

Let's not forget how steamy these two men were together. I'll never look at a bedroom door again without thinking of those two!!! This book has it all: mystery, laughter, hot and steamy relations between two beautiful men and the start of a wonderful new series. We all can't wait for the next book...........we know it will be good!

This is Sven and Geoffrey's story and ever since I read about them in the Unbreakable Bonds series, I knew that I needed to know more about them. They intrigued me so much. And it was everything I wanted.

And to be honest? I liked this a tad bit more then the other series. Their chemistry was off the charts and I loved all the action that was involved. Sure, I was hesitant to get into this because I wasn't sure if they'd - Jocelyn and Rinda - be able to pull it off after writing some of the most unforgettable books I've ever read but they did it.

And I couldn't be happier. I do hope that there's more books! Because I love all of these guys and I was so happy that majority of the people made an appearance here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yay!! Another great series from Jocelynn and Rinda.....

Loved it. A great way to start off the spin off series from Shiver, the Unbreakable Bonds stories [and you really are missing out if you haven't read that series first]. These two are such good writers, and even though there were a few typos and a couple of formatting niggles, I treasured every minute. 4.5 stars.

As everyone who's a fan of the Unbreakable Bonds series knows, Geoffrey hadn't had a lot of luck in the love department; in fact he fell in lust with Snow from Shatter and when that wasn't returned, Sven caught his eye 😉, and Geoffrey had been running around like a headless chicken trying to get Sven to notice him ever since. The two of them were poles apart as far as outlook and personality is concerned, but when Geoffrey started getting threats from a stalker, he went to Ward Security and asked for Sven to be his bodyguard...I'll leave this one here.

Hope Royce or Quinn are next up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading Addiction Alert! Drake&Elliot start a gripping new series!
Reviewed in Germany on May 11, 2018
Geoffrey is a young self-made IT millionair and easy going party guy at the Cincinnati club scene. But all his money can't make the lonliness go away nor buy him true friends. When an unknown stalker's text messages and actions slowly but steadily escalate, he is shaken to the core and seeks help at Ward Security asking for Sven as bodyguard. Sven has been his self-defense class teacher for months. Seeing Geoffrey on the verge between a panic attack and boiling rage, Sven won't let him leave without his protection, although he knows this isn't his most clever decicion. Will he withstand Geoffrey's attraction and at the same time be professional enough to keep him safe?

The Ward Security Series is a spin-off of the Unbreakable Bond Series. I must admit, I havn't read this first series and in the beginnig struggled a bit (what's with all those „Rs“ = Ralse,Rowe,Royce anyway?)and references to former adventures. But Jocelynn Drake and Rinda Elliott are a very talanted author duo and have a great, compelling way giving all their characters depth and vitality, that you are instantly pulled into the story. Instead of becoming frustrated by just getting hints into the mens'former stories, I couldn't put the book down before the end. Guys like Geoffrey are normally not my favourite characters, but both ladies managed to portray him so vividly that I instantly liked him. Him feeling so shreaded after the stalker had invaded his personal space, pushed me into protetion mode, too, and I was truely glad he had steady, strong Sven with him all the time. It was like tagging along with Geoffrey,Sven and all Ward Security collegues searching for the villan, who kept hidden until the dramatic end.

I loved this fast paced stoy in the world of strong, dark bodyguards ,snarling SUVs and rich, handsome clients with the perfect mix of action, suspense and romance. Now I am looking forward to reading the next installment and meeting all of the guys from the Unbreakable Bond/Ward Security universe again.

5.0 out of 5 stars So do two clichés make a romance book? Apparently they do. Not a bad start to a new spin-off series.
Reviewed in Australia on October 27, 2017
Psycho, ward security- spin off of the unbreakable boys series. So I actually enjoyed this installment from Jocelynn Drake. I loved Shiver, Snow, Torch, was not a fan of Devour, so I was hoping this book would recapture that magic from the other good books in that series. I think it did alright.
Geoffrey Ralse as we already met in previous books was a twink cliché flighty, high energy, wealthy, he actually had man superficial relationships and sadly came across as a bit of a man-whore. Ward protective Agent Sven Larsen we also met from previous books, was stoic, protective, reliable and the cliched Norwegian. He's charged with protecting Geoffrey when his stalker ramps up his game.
So do two clichés make a romance book? apparently they do.
This novel wasn't bad. Typical bodyguard themed, smoking hot sexy-times, deeper introduction to more Ward security guys which was good. The plot wavered a little and it was a bit too easy to bring it all together, but if your willing to over look that small hiccup then the rest of the book was pretty good.
