Pumpkin Spiced Omega (The Hollydale Omegas Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 769 ratings

“I will always love you, both in this life and the next. I vow to love you, honor you, and stay by your side through haunted houses, dead relatives, and random appearances of red croquet balls.”

Milo is a mild-mannered omega who just wants to save his Sweet Ballz, the candy shop he owns on Main St. in Hollydale. Someday maybe he will find an alpha as awesome as the book boyfriends he reads about in the popular books by his favorite author. But for now, Milo is content to be at home curled up with his favorite romance books.

Rafe is a lonely alpha trying to juggle his writing career while settling into the gorgeous old manor he's just purchased in quaint Hollydale. He just wants to have a home of his own away from the craziness of his rich, socialite family. All Rafe wants is peace and quiet to secretly write his popular romance novels, and to maybe someday find a sweet omega to love like the ones he writes about every night.

Rafe can't explain the odd happenings in his new home, or the strangely sweet little old lady who comes and goes, even when the doors are locked. Is he being gas-lighted or is there more going on? Rafe and Milo could be perfect for each other, if they can first overcome the red croquet balls that life keeps throwing at them.

This is the first book of The Hollydale Omegas series. This book is 35k and most likely contains an HEA. 18+ readers only please! And yes, this book contains M/PREG, adults adulting in sexy grown-up ways, and way more than an occasional use of potty mouth language.

I’m a happily married mom whose kids are grown! I've always written stories, but only found the courage to publish in my 40s. This midlife career change has been amazing and proves it's never too late to follow your dreams. I plan to keep writing for as long as my readers want my books. I love sharing the stories of the different people who live in my imagination. My books are filled with humor, a few tears, and the underlying message to never give up and keep hoping, even in the darkest of times, because life can change on a dime when you least expect it. This theme comes from a lifetime of lessons learned on my own hard journey through the pains of poverty, the loss of more loved ones than I’d care to count, and the struggles of living through chronic illnesses. Life can be hard, but it can also be good! Through it all I’ve found that love, laughter, and family can make all the difference, and that’s what I try to bring to every tale I tell.

I am so disappointed that even though I bought this book in October, and am only just now reading it approximately two months later. Initially it was a little off-putting the way the Omega Tom was speaking without any pronouns, but the more the characters developed his quirkiness became endearing instead of annoying. Two Alpha best friends go out on a Date with two Omega best friends. One of which is a Blind Date for one of the couples (with the associated fears of the unknown ...Is he uggo? Why can't he get his own dates? How quickly can the date be ended without being too obvious it?). The other two - a flirtatious Omega Tom and the Alpha Ian who'd connected instantly with the handsome young waiter earlier that day, were truly hormone, pheromone driven.

The two most reluctant to go out as their best friends' wingmen, were shocked that they ended up really enjoying each other's company. Their reparte' was easy and companionable. There was attraction between the nerdy glasses wearing Milo and the handsome buff wealthy Alpha Rafe. Despite their growing closeness Milo felt reluctant to share with Rafe his legal problems. He wanted to try to solve them himself.

Despite being an Omega in this Omegaverse, the Omegas were definitely & surprisingly treated a great deal better than in many other authors' works. They are allowed to own their businesses, live on their own, and to freely express their sexuality. It was a refreshing change from the really bad way Omegas are often regarded and treated.

There is a secondary story going on that was initially very amusing until it lead to some very terrible consequences. Overall this was a sweet story with a slow build-up from a respectful Alpha and an innocent Omega. There had to be some angst thrown in to cause conflict, anger, anguish, disappointment, and misery. It's during this time that Tom's one dimensional character morphed into a a more in-depth guy. Someone likeable, loyal, and very caring of his best friend.

Mpreg fans have a story that goes from conception to birth. Uncle Tom shows his true colors once again. Getting to gradually know the residents of Hollydale is a wonderful introduction to the First Book of Susi Hawke's series.

This is one of those books that I've been dying to read but for one reason or another, it got bumped down the list. And now I'm kicking myself because it was so good.

Before I go any further, I want to say how much I loved Tom. At first, I thought he was going to drive me to drink but the more he showed up, the more I fell in love with him. He's such a cutie. I really hope he shows up again.

Honestly, this whole book was a ton of fun to read. Milo and Rafe were awesome. I loved them. From their frustrations with Tom and Ian for setting them up to their happily ever after, I couldn't wait to see what the next page would bring. They were sweet and funny and just made me smile through the whole book. Except for that little bit of time when I wanted to punch Rafe but he smartened up and found his way...with a little help.

I mean the alpha totally ignores the omega for six weeks, shows up with "My Bad, dude!" and all is well. Other than that, this was an overly sweet, no angst, instalove with mpreg, and ghosts story.

I think this was a sweet story about an Alpha & omega. Susi Hawke doesn’t disappoint. I have read everything by this author. The author writes a good story & reels you in with all her characters. This series is great so far. Milo & Rafe are good characters and I enjoyed their story. But, I absolutely love Tom a secondary character that talks in the third person. He is such a funny character and different. I can’t wait to see what nonsense he is up too next. I hope Tom gets his own story.

If you are looking for a cute & funny story this one is it. I wish Hawke would write full stories not just less than 150 page stuff. This author is good enough that she could write full books. Which I consider a full book over 260 pages Don’t get me wrong Hawke writes wonderful stories just wish they were longer.

Milo and Rafe have such a sweet relationship, but the things I loved about the book didn't stop there. I hereby nominate Tom for best supporting character and bestie in any omega (or other) story. He is hilarious! His sass plays up Milo's mild-mannered gentleness. Rafe is great as an alpha who is willing to wait for Milo to be ready for intimacy. Their courtship goes great until a misunderstanding makes Rafe say some harsh things and make accusations that he immediately regrets, but that almost cost him Milo. The divine/supernatural intervention elements of the story were cute, fun, and made me chuckle. This is one of those stories that really can brighten up a bad day--I know because I've read it 5 times so far! If you are looking for something fluffy with some humor and mpreg goodness then this is the read for you.

I've come to really enjoy Susi Hawke's writing. Pumpkin Spice Omega is a really sweet story of love with a low level of angst. The story of Milo and Rafe is very touching and there are enough comic touches to make the reader giggle and smile. The secondary characters, Tom and Ian are fun, too. Tom is a hoot! But Tom also has a serious side, too that comes more at the end of the book. I can see a sequel coming with his story. Also there are Kent and Christian that are only passing through in this story but could easily become more as the series grows. Overall, I truly enjoy Pumpkin Spice Omega. I wish I had an Aggie in my life.

This had the potential to be so much better than it was. I realised I have one other book by this author, about a year ago, from another of this author's series. I wasn't fussed on that one either. The general problem for me s that the style of writing is fairly immature, the characters aren't well developed, and the storyline doesn't flow too well (because it lacks the right kind of drama and tension and creates bdly written, unnecessary drama instead, like the scene at Milo's family house). The dialogue, both spoken and thought, is one of my main peeves. It's just not well written- again I come back to the word immature to describe the writing here. It's like the author needs quite a bit more practice to improve her general writing skills, because the conversation and inner thought processes don't flow well, and often seems awkward. The worst thing about this book was the character Tom speaking in the third person all the way through, not only about himself, but when addressing his friend Milo as well. That was really, incredibly irritating, and turned a character that could have been likeable into someone I wanted to clobber over the head.
