Quarterback Sneak (Sugar Land Saints Book 1) Kindle Edition
RUSH: I’m in love with my best friend.
There wasn’t an exact moment when I fell for him. It was something that grew and evolved over time. He loves me back, but it’ll never be more than platonic. It can’t be because he’s straight.
Then one night he kissed me and left me with more questions than answers. The very next morning my trust was shattered by a family secret. I’d been lied to my whole life. He was by my side through it all, offering support when I needed it most.
How can I risk losing a friendship that held me together when I was falling apart?
TORIN: He friend-zoned me.
Four years ago, I gathered enough courage to kiss my best friend. What I’d hoped would be a pivotal moment that would start a new kind of relationship between us was over before it began.
His world was upended, so I put my feelings aside and stepped back into my role as a friend he could count on.
He wasn’t ready then, but now it’s time to find out if he’s willing to take a chance on us being something more.
We’ve been friends, roommates and teammates, but I want him, body and heart.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2022Short sweet and filled with steam! Loved this best friends to lovers story. You could feel the solid foundation that was between Torin and rush. They were always on the same wave length. Torin stepped up and took a step back from the developments in their relationship when rushs home life crumbled. He put rush first and allowed him to cope but four years later Torin is done waiting. I loved how he egged rush on and pushed him beyond being able to think. Rush needed the push because he was too scared to lose Torin to even consider admitting his feelings for Torin. I loved how once they got past the crossed line they just effortlessly gelled. Hell even their team thought their were already a together. Lol. Good story can’t wait for more.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2024Rush and Torin’s story makes for a satisfying novella. They have a deep connection that you can feel in every scene they’re in together. I love the way Torin not so subtly teases and comes on to Rush once he’s finally gotten tired of waiting for Rush to make a move or even just say something. But after four years and with college graduation impending, he finally can’t take it anymore. And he’s justifiably annoyed when Rush seems confused and uncertain about Torin’s feelings. I love how they end up coming out to their team and how the team reacts. If only real life could be like this. I also like that once they are both on the same page, they are all in and bypass a lot of steps because they already know each other so well. They are just really sweet together. I also thought the hints/teasers about characters from the rest of the series were woven into the story in a very natural way. Definitely piqued my interest.
What didn’t work great for me was the thing that keeps them separated after their first kiss in high school. By itself it didn’t feel shocking or world changing enough to justify them going back into friend mode. Maybe this is a problem with the book being a novella—if it were longer more time could have been spent making the emotional impact of the revelation clearer as well as why it changed so much for these two.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2021This is a friends to lovers, low-angst, sweet sports romance. The emotions, dialogue, and sports all felt genuine, and the story was short but satisfying. However, I found myself constantly trying to remember who was who for our two MCs. They were just too similar. Not only did I forgot who was who (one had family drama in the very beginning, and that’s how I tried to remember), but when I was reading a chapter I’d also forget who was supposed to be narrating; their voices were very similar.
I’ll probably read more from the series; we had some secondary characters introduced and I had no trouble telling them apart, and the possible storylines seemed interesting.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2021This is a fun, quick read. It’s low angst with an HEA. This was my first time reading this author but I’m looking forward to reading more of their books. Nash and Torin’s devotion to each other was incredibly sweet and made their relationship extremely believable.
***Small Spoiler***
Absolutely loved reading a story where both MC’s received nothing but love and support from their families and friends when coming out. :)

I needed a book that started with the letter Q for a challenge. I searched Amazon and this one came up in the results. And much to my surprise (and happiness!), it was MM romance!
For a novella, I felt this quick read gave me a lot more than some shorter stories do. I liked the characters and the story didn’t feel rushed. I didn’t catch too many feels though, but I’m very glad I read this!
The 4-year jump from high school to college was a bit much, especially for nothing to have happened between them during that time. That being said, I enjoyed this story enough to want to read the next books in the series. (HELLO Shaw & Bishop!!)
This was a new-to-me author and I enjoyed her writing.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2022I found this a fun, quick read with great writing and believable characters. I loved Rush and Torin, and was pleased to see two people who went into their relationship knowing they loved each other. I'd have liked an epilogue further into the future, but I imagine they'd be just as solid together even years down the road.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2021I liked the storyline well enough, the characters were good, not a lot of drama. Unfortunately I read this shortly after reading the author’s newest release (and my first look at this author) The Faker’s Rulebook. Both stories are basically the same. Athlete and best friend. Out gay and non labeled only wants 1 guy. 4 years between start of action and actual coupling. I liked it more here but so much repeating so close together left a meh taste.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2023Rush and Torin are best friends have been since pre-k. Once in high school they had a moment then something happened that put that on hold. Its senior year of college now and the two of them are still thick as ever, but are both wanting more. Neither wants to be an experiment for the other or a one time thing. I was happy when they started acting on the want. It was sweet and I loved it. There is no third act break up or misunderstanding. When they commit its for real and keeps.
Rush deals with the family shake up near the end of this that put the breaks on senior year high school at the end. The sex was perfect. I liked the other players as well. It be nice read the other books too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it
Short, sweet and really cute! Loved their story. No big problems, not a slow burn but not rushed either. Just two best friends in love with each other and a romance delayed by a family secret and a tiny bit of miscommunication. Torin is a sexy sweetheart and Rush is a big, sweet and passionate teddy bear. Well written and satisfying for such a short story.

5.0 out of 5 stars I NEED MORE Suger Land Saints Books
What can I say? This book was a damn surprise and I'm so happy Baylin promoted it in a Facebook group I'm in.
I'm in love with both Rush and Torin. All the side characters stole my heart, too. Hopefully Shaw, Bishop and Nash will shine when their time comes.
BRAVO.
