About the author

Veronica Larsen began writing around the age of seven, scribbling Nancy Drew-like stories between the margins of composition notebooks. Her journey into the romance genre began once upon a long military deployment when she penned a steamy romance for her husband, a US Marine. This story eventually turned into her debut novel Entangle. She fell in love with writing romance and hasn't looked back since. Her novels are known to feature engaging story-lines, relatable characters, heart-tugging truths, and tangible chemistry that builds throughout the story. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, which has come in handy in resolving the messy lives of the fictional people in her head.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2018Reckless Touch is my first book by Veronica Larsen. I'm impressed. Ms. Larsen has delivered a book written in first-person, alternating point of view, which I usually hate. But I'm forced to admit, in this book, it totally works. Kudos to Ms. Larsen. Amelia is a reporter, attacked leaving work one night. When an arrest is made but the stalkerish gifts keep arriving, she insists they have the wrong man. Sebastian is a detective and believes Amelia is in danger. Amelia and Sebastian's story is loaded with drama, bits of humor, action, suspense and sizzle. This story captured me at the first page and held me hostage until the end. I look forward to reading more from Veronica Larsen in the future. Reckless Touch is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2018Amelia is a newspaper reporter. She's done some pretty serious stories in the past and is looking for the one story that will finally make her dream job working for the New York Times possible. One night while walking to her car she gets attacked. Now she's on a mission to find out who attacked her, and Why?
Detective Sebastian Reed happens to catch a case of a newspaper reporter being attacked in the parking lot of her job. To make matters worse he has a list of possible suspects but no real leads. On top of that he realizes she may have a stocker. The only way she can protect herself is by learning self defense and he's determined to teach her.
With Amelia's stocker on the lose and stress from her demanding job, Sebastian is the only thing she's sure of and trust.
Reckless Touch is daring and dangerous with plenty of heat. What I loved most about this book is, you'll never guess who it is. I never even suspected this person. It's a great read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2016Holy who-dunnit Batman!
This book had me hooked from the get-go. Journalist Amelia is hot on a story when she gets attacked. Enter broodingly hot Detective Reed to investigate her case, and we're in business!
I found myself guessing who the culprit was throughout the entire book - and I mean everyone was a suspect for me! Motive? yes. Circumstances? yes. I couldn't wait to get to the end when it all was revealed brilliantly. Amelia didn't disappoint, proving herself resourceful. I loved the climax, and if you crave a solid plot, Reckless Touch will have you burning through the pages. There's slow-burning romance, steamy scenes, and plenty of mystery and tension (don't wanna spoil, but Baby Jesus on a manger, that Mayor's party hi jinks almost killed me!)
But at the end, again, Veronica did not disappoint. Her writing and storytelling solid as always. It's settled: Veronica Larsen is definitely a one-click author for me!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2018Amelia is a journalist about to break open a gy-normous story about a corrupt politician. Only problem is, she has a stalker at her work and receives presents daily. After being attacked in the parking lot one evening, two policemen end up working the case. But as the police think they've got the suspect in custody, she thinks they're still one step behind. Is she being too paranoid, or is someone really messing with her? When Officer Reed offers to teach Amelia private self-defense classes, their undeniable chemistry is about to shoot off the charts.
Can Reed stop the madman before he catches up to her to silence her for good?
Romance, drama & suspense. Love it all!!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2016Let me start with this, if you haven't read a Veronica Larsen book before, please do so now! She is a MASTER of the slow-burn. I think it's also worth noting that I would classify this book more suspense with a touch of romance.
The story follows Amelia, a journalist that works for a San Diego newspaper. She's investigating a new lead that may be a BIG deal. (no spoilers!) She's also recieving threats that could be tied to this big story.
Along the way, she's introduced to a detective, Sebastian. Enter the slow burn.
Definitely a worthwhile suspenseful read that will keep you guessing until the end!

- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2018After reading the summary of this book, I had great hopes since I love romantic suspense. And the story was indeed very good and contained no glaring grammatical or spelling errors - a definite plus for this reader who is very tired of an absence of proper editing. However, for me, there were a couple of problems, and hence my three stars.
First, it's written in the present tense. I don't understand why authors choose to do that - to give a greater sense of urgency? I have no idea. All it does for me is create confusion and annoyance - I can never be absolutely sure what's occurring when, without re-reading passages.
Second, there's way too much introspection / supposed background information. Really, a couple of pages upfront, and perhaps - I repeat perhaps - an odd additional paragraph as the story progresses would have sufficed. The same internal thoughts really don't need to be repeated over and over.
Anyway, as I said, it's a good story, and I'm sure many other readers won't be bothered by my concerns, so at least try it!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2023This was a fantastic story. It kept you wanting to read more. I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read her next story.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2019A lot of raw scenes.
An attack is hard and fast. Sex is strong and heart pumping. Her reactions are high maintenance. Phycological attacks are brutal. Plus a few boring or silly bits.
MINI SPOILER..
Favourite moment was the final attack ... can almost hear, feel and taste the scene. The neighbour's screams and door banging, the physical blows, the blood everywhere, the shear terror of impending death.
And if I was ever blessed with the perfect man. .. that would absolutely and whole heartedly be Detective Sebastian Reed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick & engaging read
I quite enjoyed this book. It was a fast read and didn't have a lot of romance, per se, but there is a love story in there and a HEA. On the mystery and suspense side of things, I think the author did a great job. The book held my interest throughout and the suspect was not predictable for me. I can usually guess who the culprit is but this one surprised me and I did not pick it. Definitely worth a read if you're a fan of romantic suspense.

Amelia is a newspaper reporter and is onto a big story. She meets detective Sebastian Reed when someone tries to grab her when she comes out of work. She gets him to teach her self defence but sparks fly between them and they share a night together. Someone keeps sending her a rose and a note that has her spooked and she doesn't think Sebastian believes her. Well thought out story and a good read

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable
Enjoyed this book Not normally the sort of book I would read, but there is enough action to keep you turning the pages. Not really into the romantic either, but it made part if the story. Give it a try

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 stars
A romantic and suspenseful story of a journalist on the brink of exposing a powerful and well-connected man. Readers question, Does her threats originate from this breaking story or from somewhere else?
The hero’s story and the impact of her story on his work-life is left unsaid and I felt was a bit of a loose end. But we get a lovely HEA which sort of leaves his situation a moot point.
