Redneck's Revenge (The Isabel Long Mystery Series Book 2) Kindle Edition
Just months after solving her first case, Isabel Long is in a funk. Her relationship with the Rooster Bar's owner is over. Then the cops insist she must work for a licensed P.I. before going solo.
Encouraged by her 'Watson' - her 92-year-old mother - Isabel snaps out of it by hooking up with a P.I. and finding a new case. But it's not at all clear-cut.
The official ruling is Chet Waters, an ornery so-and-so, was passed out when his house caught fire. His daughter, who inherited his junkyard, believes he was murdered. Topping the list of suspects are dangerous drug-dealing brothers, a rival junkyard owner, and an ex-husband.
Could Waters' death simply be a case of redneck's revenge? Isabel is about to find out.
REDNECK'S REVENGE IS #2 IN THE ISABEL LONG MYSTERY SERIES.

Author of Death Comes in through the Kitchen, A Girl Like Che Guevara and The Astral Plane
Set in the frozen Northeast, author Joan Livingston's spellbinding descriptions of small town America and classic Yankee characters weave humor and a love story with murder. The story sweeps us along and there are enough plot twists and turns in this deftly written work to satisfy the most hard-core mystery fan. A great choice.

Award-winning author of Homeland Burning and The Callahan Family Saga
I particularly like Joan Livingston's folksy, no frills style. I think that's a nod to her years as a newspaper editor (something her main character, Isabel shares with her). The characters are colorful and entertaining. It is almost as if I know them somehow, and you will too.

About the Author
She draws upon her own experience as a longtime journalist in Massachusetts and New Mexico to create Isabel Long, a sassy, savvy widow who uses the skills she acquired in the business to solve what appears to be impossible cases. She credits her mother, Algerina -- the inspiration for Maria, Isabel Long's 'Watson' -- for instilling in her a love of reading and the power of the written word.

Compelling series with descriptive writing that draws the reader into each scene. Plenty of twists and suspects to keep the reader interest. Flexible procedures, actions and reactions. Believable dialogue and characters with distinct personalities.
No desire to re-read this story. I am interested in other works by this author.
Isabel takes another case that is a cold case....a man was found dead in a fire, but no one thinks it was anything but an accident except for his daughter. The list of suspects isn't too long, but they are real characters! Rednecks through and through.
On top of that, she has 2 men interested in her....and she's not been on the dating scene for too many years.
Isabel is a genuine woman, very likeable. The plot was was written, and well thought out. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
This is a stand-alone book but I’m glad I read book one so that I had some background but I have to say I hated the way book One ended.
This installment was fun, clever, sad, happy, slow, fast, you name it.
Isabel has a quick wit, smart aleck attitude, gets herself into some sort of unbelievable situations but in the end the author wraps up everything nice and neat.
I can’t wait to borrow book three from Kindle Unlimited I hope I can get it that way!
Highly recommend! I didn’t know that Massachusetts had rednecks!

I was immersed in the setting, which comes alive with the characters and as the story continues. The ending was a surprise, although I did pick up a hint of it earlier in the story, but dismissed it. Very clever plot.
Joan Livingston is a professional journalist and this shows in her excellent style of writing. She’s a born fiction writer and I dearly look forward to the next Isabel Long case.
Thanks Joan for writing these books.
