Additionally, as someone who lives in New York City, I especially appreciated how Erin Hawkins incorporated real places and authentic details of the city into the story. It added a layer of realism that made the narrative even more immersive.

    I easily got the story, it's a light and funny read but it definitely doesn't shy away from steamy moments!! The balance of light-heartedness and romance makes it an enjoyable read from start to finish in my opinion. (I finished reading this book in about 24hrs - couldn't put it down)

    I read romance to escape the drudgeries of life. Sometimes the heart just needs a nice, sweet, funny, and easy romance without tons of drama or angst. If you are like me and that type of book soothes your soul then you will love Reluctantly Yours!

    The drama and angst was deliciously low - this book is a quick, run, and delightful read - tons of chemistry, tons of heart, and a great plot set up.

    What I so appreciated about this story was that it quickly became clear that Barrett and Chloe were truly falling for each other - and we readers didn’t have to suffer through endless pages of them fighting/denying their feelings, or big misunderstandings/stupidity/one person falls in love and decides to break up with the other, because it will hurt too much if they break up in the future, etc. Refreshingly, Barrett was the first to admit to himself and others that he wanted a future with Chloe.

    Separation/ Third Act Breakup: Yes (but only lasted for two characters)

    Heat level: Moderate/high. It gets pretty hot between these two, but not so much that it takes away from the story.

    Descriptive sex: Yes

    Closure: The only complaint I might have, is that it stopped as soon as proposal was over. I wish that the author would have included some type of epilogue that would show how this couple managed after their wedding. I wouldn’t call it a HEA ending for sure - definitely not enough for my liking. I would call this HFN ending, as we don’t get any concrete commitments for the couple.

    Would I recommend this book = Yes🫶🏻

    Would I read future books by this author = Yes🤌🏻

    This really was an amazing book. Incredible writing, and I laughed out loud frequently. I just think maybe my morals don’t align well with the characters, because the big disagreement did NOT seem like a big deal to me at all !!! I understood the dilemma, but it definitely wasn’t worth all the dramatics. I was like “umm…just mind your business maybe ???!!”
    But it was still a great read, just be prepared for some annoyance towards the end. I’d love to watch this as a movie too. It’d be the perfect cozy Rom Com to watch over and over.

    This was just and all around feel good, funny, heartwarming, spicy, sweet love story. Very much grumpy/ sunshine vibes and Garrett Mr. GRUMPS finds a way to get Chloe to be his forever sunshine. I needed a story that was so easy to read that I couldn't put down and made the smile on my face make my cheeks hurt. Oh, did I mention, Mr. ST. CHAIR'S dirty mouth and the spice! Oh, it was good.     Reluctantly Yours was so fun! It instantly gave me The Spanish Love Deception vibes, with the office setting (Chloe is his mum’s assistant), fake dating and grumpy MMC. When Barrett catches Chloe hosting her friend's bachelorette party in his mum's penthouse apartment, he bl-ckmails her into being his fake girlfriend to close a business deal.

    Then add in a lot of forced proximity, some delicious tension and then some hot spice and you have a good time! Barrett was a total simp for Chloe and we love to see it! It also didn’t hurt that he had a lot of money... and a d-rty mouth.

    But being with Chloe finally made Barrett realise there’s more to life than work and the girl deserved to be spoiled (especially with first dates to Paris). They were complete opposites that just worked, with banter, tension and chemistry galore.

    Case in point: "What's with the hand-holding?" "It's so you don't run away."
