Reprobates (The BOHICA Chronicles Book 1) Kindle Edition
Kicked out of the military for brawling, what can three friends from different countries do to make some needed money?
Fast?
With nothing in their future, Former US Marine Charles, ex-SAS Booker, and ex-Australian Army Roo decide to give the Zoo a shot.
Without the contacts, without backing, without knowing what they are getting into, they scramble to get their foot in the door to even make rent in one of the most dangerous areas in the world.
With high rewards comes high risk. Can they learn on the job, where failure means death?
Relying on their training, they will scratch, claw, and take the most dangerous jobs to prove themselves, but will it be enough? Can they fight the establishment and the Zoo at the same time?
And what the heck’s up with that puppy they found?
Pick up Reprobates and find out. Go up and click on the 'Read for Free' or 'Buy Now' button and follow our trio as they find out that what doesn't eat them...
Waits to eat them next time.

About the authors
I am a retired Marine infantry colonel and now a full-time writer living in Colorado Springs with my wife Kiwi and twin five-year-old girls, Danika Dawn and Darika Marie. I am a two-time Nebula Award Finalist, a two-time Dragon Award Finalist, and a USA Today Bestselling writer.
I published my first work back in 1978, a so-so short story titled "Secession." Since then, I have been published in newspapers, magazines, and in book format in fiction, political science, business, military, sports, race relations, and personal relations fields. I returned to writing fiction in 2009, and I currently have over 100 titles published, 80 being novels. My novelette, "Weaponized Math," was a finalist for the 2017 Nebula Award, "Fire Ant" was a finalist for the 2018 Nebula Award for Best Novella, "Integration" was a finalist for the 2018 Dragon Award for Best Military Science Fiction or Fantasy Novel, and "Sentenced to War" was a finalist for the 2021 Dragon Award in the same category.
My undergraduate degree was earned at the U. S. Naval Academy (Class of 1979), and I have attended graduate school at U. S. International University and the University of California, San Diego, earning a masters and doctorate. I am a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the US. Naval Academy Alumni Association, and the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America where I'm serving as the Nebula Award Commissioner.
I have rather eclectic tastes. I have won awards in photography, cooking, writing, and several sports, earning national championships in rugby and equestrian events. When I'm not writing, I'm reading, cooking, going to the gym, taking my girls fishing, or traveling. I attend quite a few cons over the course of a year, and love meeting other people who love books.
I write because I love it. I only hope that others might read my work and get a bit of enjoyment or useful information out of my efforts.
Not too much to say about me. I'm ex-Army, ex-Marine, ex-married, now living my retirement in Thailand.
I'm a whale reader, constantly in a book, and I wanted to see if I could write a novel. They say write what you know, so I wrote BECOMING A MAN IN THAILAND. The book contains some nightlife scenes, and the Thai government doesn't always take kindly to that, so to protect my retirement visa, I chose a pen name.
I'm also a beta reader for several other authors, and that opened up the chance for me to write with Michael Anderle and Jonathon Brazee in THE BOHICA CHRONICLES.
Michael Anderle (ok, weird talking about myself in the 3rd person) (1967-Hopefully a long time from NOW) was born in Houston, Tx. A very curious child, he got into trouble - a lot. What to do with an inquisitive mind when he was grounded? Read!
Ok, done with all of that 3rd person stuff.
In the first 20 years, I mostly read Science Fiction and Fantasy. In the last 10 years I have enjoyed Urban Fantasy and Military Fiction. With this background, I've been blessed with creating The Kurtherian Gambit series, a well-selling, and fan loved, collection of stories.
The fans have propelled these stories beyond my wildest imagination and they should get all of the credit for sharing with friends, family and occasionally the random person on the street. They are fantastic!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2023It reminds me of David Drake's book The Jungle, where the plants are the deadliest enemy. The three lead characters here are a lot of fun, if just a little bit two-dimensional and occasionally quite a bit denser than anyone with their experience should b e. I'm sure that'll work itself out as the series continues. And I like the "dog". I'm looking forward to finding out what it actually is. This is pretty good escapist reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2019Fun read with a group of experienced life takers and heart breakers down on their luck when they take advantage of an opportunity for some what they believe will be some easy money. Like most plans theirs didn't survive first contact, but as professionals they execute the mission despite volatile women, a Nigerian Prince and generally being screwed by other mercs in the camp. They improvise adapt and overcome in great form.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2019The Zoo sucked me right back in with this book. I’d stop reading the other Zoo series. Not because they were bad, just that I had a whole backlog of other books. The characters are good very good. Loved the story and Thor? His story is coming.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2021Really fun characters. My favorite is the marine, but I may be prejudice as a marine wife. I love their dark armed forces humor. This author makes me feel like I am in the horrific jungle with all the alien monsters. Really good job. Can't wait for more.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2019Ok, when's the next book?? The characters grab your interest right from the start. I'm loving all the Zoo books and this is going to be one of my favorites. Now if I can just hold on till the next one... thank you so much for brightening my day!! Now get on the next one, lol!!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2019Just enough to keep it interesting. Not enough background on situations, more detail would make for better read. Seemed to be too easy to get acclimatized to the zoo.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2019What an awesome new series! Michael And's Zoo universe has really taken off! I've read Jonathan Brazee's books before, so this was a perfect fit. C.J. Fawcett does an amazing job with the main writing. I can't wait to see what happens next! Keep churning out the awesome stories guys!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2019Three down on their luck ex-military men from three different countries decide to make money working at The Zoo. With no idea what they're getting into, nowhere to stay and no contacts inside the enormous complex, what could go wrong? A lot and often!
This was a fast read. Breeze and Fawcett do a pretty good job of world-building. I'm sure I never want to visit anywhere like this. I'm good just reading about it.
Unfortunately, the characters where only 2-dimensional and the main plot was really just about them going on missions in the Zoo.
I really hoped that this would turn out better than it did. However , it was really just another take on the movie "Annihalation" just with more greed, severely dangerous flora and fauna and a really sweet dog named Thor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit for The Zoo
Liked this, a lot. Start of a series books can be a bit slow, but I didn't find this to be so. The characters are really believable and likeable. Lots of action and plenty humour (come on their soldiers). The story whips along at a fair pace. Can't wait for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars It had me at the first chapter!
Another excellent series set in the Zoo, and I was laughing from the start. It’s fun seeing the team come together and a different direction in the Zoo.

Reprobates (the BOHICA Chronicles Book 1) well thought out story good believable characters a little far fetched story but somehow believable in our fantasy reading world would definitely be reading book episode two , these three authors have written well between themselves well done .

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT SO GOOD.
I didn't like it, I thought it was childish, unfortunately.
I am sorry, I don't like to be negative, but it just did not cut the mustard for me.
