Sometimes the universe puts you in the right place at the right time, but you can’t always see it at the time. When River Bennett is attacked by a group of men, he can’t see anything good coming out of it. That is until the policeman who rescued him appears at the hospital to interview him.

Madden Sanders.

River had spent his youth lusting over his one-time best friends brother, but when life split them apart, he didn’t think he would see either of them again. Yet here Madden is, standing in front of River in a police uniform and looking better than he did back in high school.

Madden can’t believe that it’s little River Bennett that he’s just saved from being seriously hurt. He remembers his little brother’s best friend, and he also remembers the things he used to imagine about him. When those same feelings come back, it confuses Madden, especially since he has a boyfriend. That doesn’t stop the pull between the men, and when friendship threatens to become more, Madden will need to decide what to do.

The only problem is that when he decides, Madden then needs to prove to River he doesn’t see him as less. He doesn’t see him as weak. What he actually sees is the man of his dreams, but will River ever believe him? Will River let Madden see behind the mask where he hides?

And when the universe puts them in the right place again, will they be able to work out who is rescuing who?

    River Bennett, sweet, sassy. Madden Sanders, police officer, hot! Madden hasn't seen River in a long time. He's taken by surprise when he discovers he just rescued his brother's best friend. But there's more to it than that! Old feelings emerge for both River and Madden. I first have to comment on how fantastic the cover of this book is. It's gorgeous! I totally loved Madden and River. River is such a strong character. He fights to let everyone know he can take care of himself. He has his fears, but he hides them well. Madden, what's not to like about Madden. Love a man in uniform! My favorite scene has to be the roses, and that's all I'm going to say about that. *grins* You'll have to read the book to find out about the roses. I have to be honest in that I've recently discovered T.a. McKay, and I'm so glad I did. I'll definitely be adding more of her books to my TBR pile. I totally loved this book and I encourage everyone to try it!

    Some editing needed. (A family doesn’t show for wedding but does for award ceremony. A character is basically a bottom @ the beginning of the story, then becomes a total top? Doesn’t make sense.

    I've read several other books from T.A. McKay and found them to be well done, entertaining, and I can really sink into them...this is no exception. I loved the premise of them coming together in the present when they knew each other in the past, but it was different from typical friends to lovers/second chance type books. I thought the main characters were very well written and developed, I was really rooting for them to overcome their challenges and realize what was right in front of them once they discovered, or should I say re-discovered each other and who they are now. I really enjoyed this book and looking forward to more from T.A. McKay!

    Loved Every minute of this book. Madden and River, absolute sweet characters. I love madden and his love for River that he’s had for a long long time. And River...sigh... I cried for him and I hoped he found love. I am so glad that he did! Absolutely a must read.

    The chemistry between River and Madden made me jealous as hell. Madden is the kind of guy I go for, string, caring and loyal, and River is the kind of guy I love to be friends with with his blunt sarcastic humour. I ship this couple. And I'm sure you'll love this story too. Also, the book cover is my favourite this year so far.
