Rescue Me: The Foundling Trilogy - Book One Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 45 ratings

Billionaire rescue mm romance!

What do you do when you find an unconscious man floating on a raft in the middle of the Caribbean? Rescue and fall in love with him, of course!

Well, that’s not me. I’m a businessman first and foremost with an underworld reach that stretches from my island all the way to Miami. I’m too busy to rescue strays. I have no time for lovers. And I don’t fall in love. But Alec is beautiful, vulnerable, and my heart won’t stop pounding.

My every waking thought is of him. I can’t concentrate. The world is suddenly vibrant and colorful. Flowers assault me with their sweet fragrance. Food tastes fresher. And my body is hot, so hot all the time. I have done some dark deeds in my life and cared little for their affects on others as long as they gained me everything I sought. But now… one good deed and I don’t know who I am anymore.

Billionaire, organized crime, amnesia, human trafficking, hurt/comfort, tropical hot-hot, happy for now. Book one of the Foundling trilogy. (Previously published under the title “The Foundling,” this book is a newly edited, updated edition.)

I love this Author. This book is a MAGNIFICENT introduction to the world of a not so good guy. Diego is a smuggler, dealer and corrupt business man. This explores how and why he became that way. He goes against his own judgement and rescued a wounded man in a life raft. Alec has no memory. Diego has made it his mission to discover his past and protect him. This is Book #1. I'm beginning Book #2 NOW. I'll keep you posted. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!

Rescue Me is the first book in The Foundling Trilogy by Wendy Rathbone. It is well written and keeps your attention. The story has drama, mystery, criminal activity, lots of steam and even a good dose of romance. Diego and Alec are interesting characters that I truly enjoyed reading about. They had great chemistry and made me root for them. Diego may not be a great man but the way Alec makes him feel makes me want a Happy ending for them. Alex has suffered and I want to know more about him. The ending makes you need to get book two right away.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

I feel so bad for Alec even if things are okay now what will happen when he remembers. Diego is so good to him but how long will it last after all he isn't exactly a good guy per say.

This is one of the most romantic stories I've ever read. I'm not sure if the author intended it to be as romantic as it turned out, rather than erotic. There is a lot of sex in it, but it's combined with so much caring and gentleness, that you know it has to be sincere love. The love affair is sweet, heartwarming, and emotionally stirring, the way you wish all romance stories were. The romance takes over the entire story. And yet, there is a lot of criminal activity going on in the background. One of the main characters is a heartless criminal who has become super rich through dirty business dealings, and who doesn't hesitate to get rid of anyone who gets in his way. And he has plenty of lackeys on his payroll to do all his dirty deeds. But as far as love is concerned he is a gentle, concerned lover who wants only to please his loved one, and it makes you forget what kind of man he really is when he's taking care of his illegal business transactions. I loved this book. Although it's a standalone story, the author has written two sequels, and I want to read more about this couple. I'm on my way to book 2 right now. Five stars all the way!

I don't remember why I decided to read this...it may have been a recommendation. I saw the premise and thought it sounded interesting and different from what I read before. Man finds man, man rescues man, men fall in love.

This was way beyond that. It was beautifully written, hot, erotic. The storyline was gripping, and it kept me reading. Diego and Alec are two complicated characters. One is clearly flawed. The other isn't sure who he is.

I usually don't start books that are in a series, but once I read this story, I had to continue with the other two.

I couldn't put this book down. Two thumbs up to the author for creating an awesome anti-hero that the reader can't help but like.

The plot is intriguing but parts of the plot is devestatingly heart breaking.

Worth picking up if you want a bit of suspense with some angst thrown in.

Wow! Picking up the book I had an expectation on how it will be laid out and the author totally threw me for a loop!
One of the best first - person narrations I have ever read! Choppy, full of emotions and confusion, disoriented at times. Just perfect and so well executed! Can’t wait to dig into part two!

This is book 1 of a trilogy - do your self a major favor and don't stop reading until the very, VERY end...
I'm struggling with this review because I'm just so...... unsettled.
First, this is so unlike other works by Wendy. I love Wendy's books - I've most of them. But this..... this is something else. This is.....poetry. At it's most true. Is it HAWT - yes. Is there intrigue - yes. It's well written, well edited, well done in every way, and it will stay with me for a good long while.

This was an intense internal monologue of a carribean mafia boss who finds a floating man and falls in love for the first time. Wendy writes lovely prose but this is not my favourite of her books. The plot was appealing but the internal POV was off-putting.
