My Restless Earl: A Clean Regency Romance (The Duke's Daughters Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 820 ratings

Introducing “My Restless Earl” - The Second Standalone story in the Duke’s Daughter’s Series

Jessica Seaworth is the impulsive, playful and free-spirited daughter of the Duke. If she had her way, the free life she has lived at her father's country estate in Westbrook would be all she would ever know. But with her father confessing he is not long for the world and declaring his wishes that he see his daughters all be wed, Jessica must reevaluate her future.

Now with Jessica's serious older sister Amelia wed, Jessica is left with the pressure to be next. She hates the thought of marriage though, and worse still is the man everyone seems to be pushing her towards. George Eccles is the last man she wants to marry, and Jessica is determined to make him hate her. As usual though, fate makes other plans, and as hard as she tries, love creeps its way into both their hearts.

But a personality and military life like George’s easily serves in the making of enemies, and with Jessica in possession of a tempestuous mind herself, along with being the daughter of one of the wealthiest Dukes in England, there is little chance their union won’t be without more than the usual difficulties.

A story of unexpected love against all odds in the world of Regency era England. “My Restless Earl” is the second book of the Duke’s Daughters Series by Rose Pearson. Each book can be treated as its own standalone romance story, and cliffhanger endings are always strictly avoided.

Review

Excerpts from Amazon Reviews:I found the book hard to put down. So many twists and turns along with a plotting suitor that will keep you turning pages to find out what will happen. Will Jessica find happiness or will she be shamed into a loveless marriage?

I loved it! This book is full of strong well developed characters who come across as very real. It is easy to get lost in this book's world. Lovely storyline and the well defined characters captured my attention from the very first page and kept me hooked until the turn of the very last page!

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

Rose has read her way through countless romances over the years, “borrowing” them from her older sisters, and hiding them from her mother (Mom didn't like the sexy book covers!)

She has a special love for Regency romances and when she began writing, the Regency period was a natural place to start. The ton, the wealthy families, the Season, the dilemmas, and yes, the marriages, have always fascinated her. She loves a happy ever after! Now she is happy to bring this passion to her stories and share it with her readers.

On a personal note, Rose lives in North Carolina, is married, and has a terrier that barks too much. She enjoys taking him for walks to tire him out!

Jessica and her sisters Harmonia and Jacintha, visit their older sister and husband, Lord Northfell. Jessica is not too excited about looking for a husband, though she knows it’s her turn to choose one. She meets someone at the first ball, while visiting, and one dance has her emotions stirred. But, she just isn’t sure, as it seems he is withholding something. On repeat visits at balls, a third person begins causing trouble between the man she is more interested in. It is an amazing story, well-woven throughout with just enough information to keep you guessing, and even lending a bit of suspense, in the process. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and feel confident you will, also!

I do like to read Rose Pearson's stories. They are usually very gently and easy reads.
This one was a nice story. Our heroine was a bit immature but comes around in the end.
The plot of the story does have some twists and turns which make the story more interesting. I really enjoyed hot Jessica 'took care' of Major Ridding and left him "lying on the ground and howling in pain." HAHA! Good girl.
One of the pleasant things about the heroines sisters, is that they all support one another. That is very refreshing.
The only issue I had with the book is the use of the word 'angst'. That is definitely not a Regency era term. I do believe authors need to guard against using modern language in historical novels. It jolts you out of the story.

This was a fun clean story and the second in The Duke’s Daughters series. I enjoyed it and liked catching up with the characters from the first book. Now I am off to find book 3.

To be betrayed by a colonel who was a long time friend is disloyal and outrageous behavior. Lady Jessica and her sisters don't know what to think.

I have loved all of the Kit Morgan books I have read to date, and it is hard to choose one over the other.. Everyone of the deserves a 5 star review. The plots are ingenious, several series being set in a particular town for each series. In spite of this there are no cookie-cutter plot, and characters are all unique and engaging. I heartily recommend Kit Morgan's books to all those who love a romance with a blend of action and mystery.

Simple plot with naive hero and heroine. They fall in love until they listen to evil rumors spread by a mutual friend. Of course, they don’t bother to talk with each other and just accept what they are told. Eventually their issues are resolved and they will live happily ever after. No romantic episodes. Boring read to me.

Lady Jessica and Lord George Warwick are drawn to each other, but then forced apart by the loud booming voice of Major Ridding. A charming regency romance with lots of tension and trials for the hero and heroine.

I really enjoyed this story. It is well-written. Jessica and George meet and are attracted to each other. However, a friend of George's is determined to prevent them becoming close. He lies to both Jessica and George and makes Jessica believe that George does not care for him at all. Will George realise the deception? Will Jessica see through the lies before the truth is revealed? Read on and enjoy.

I have read and enjoyed other books by this author, but this one moved too slowly. I thought there was much repetition and filler.
It also needs more editing for wrong words and typos.
