Rogue Warrior: (Dark Warrior Alliance Book 10) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 363 ratings

The most important tenet of being a Dark Warrior is to uphold the law and order of the Tehrex Realm, but one look at an Angel’s Kiss victim and Santiago breaks every rule. Thumbing his nose at the Vampire King and his life at Zeum, Santiago is shocked when his Omega refuses him sanctuary within the pack. Facing life as a lone wolf doesn’t deter Santiago from his mission as he continues to fight evil and put an end to the destructive drug taking over the realm. He is forced to evaluate his principles when he discovers the assassin hired to kill him is his Fated Mate. Will the domino affect of killing his mate’s brother threaten not only his position as a Dark Warrior, but her trust and love? Tori’s human life ended centuries before when Freya found her dying on a battlefield. She’s never fit in with the other Valkyrie and looks forward to fulfilling the required time with the Assassin’s Guild so she can pursue her true passion of painting. What she plans as her last job is enticing for two reasons…the high dollar figure attached and the fact that the mark is her brother’s killer. Tori curses fate when her hatred for Santiago is outweighed by her attraction. Determined to find the proof necessary to condemn Santiago, she isn’t prepared when it backfires and her morals and beliefs are called into question.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Scarred Warrior" is a fabulous romp, filled with a Russian novel's worth of fascinating characters: sorcerers, witches, vampires, demons, shape-shifting alien dragons, even angels. Gerrick and Shae are sympathetic characters whose struggles against a compulsive attraction they don't understand or trust are poignant. The surrounding characters are vividly drawn as well, making for a rich and layered world. Magical battles abound, and sex is plentiful--perhaps too plentiful--and graphic, but full of emotion. Though this book stands well on its own, the reader will definitely want to go back and read the previous installments of the Dark Warrior Alliance series. ~InD'tale Magazine

I don't know where to start, this is a 5 star plus book. Brenda Trim and Tami Julka out did themselves on this one.
The story of Santiago and Tori is outstanding. Santiago the rouge Dark Warrior who thinks he's above the law. Finds himself making the decision to leave the Dark Warrior's because he thinks the punishment for the death of the drug dealer was too high.
Santiago wasn't looking for his fate mate when he met Tori a Valkyrie assassin, and the sister of the man he killed for dealing Angel's kiss was really unexpected. Tori was hired to kill Santiago by the Guild but couldn't. Tori fights with herself a lot to get Santiago to face his problems. The love between these two is not an easy road but in the end, they have a better understanding of what drives them.
Through the blood, sweat and lots of soul searching they make it to the other side.
This is a must book to read.

The story line was ok. Love the couple but it lacked the underlying passion and wittiness between the couple. The story felt very pg13 rated. I love getting lost in this series, however no getting swept away or carried away in this book. Truly missed the passion

Thanks to Tori who is a Valkyie. I can't believe she gets over the fact that Santiago killed her brother. And he doesn't sound very remorseful. Yeah her brother had changed in the last 10 years, but he was still her brother. Tori forces him to look at why he is fighting and Santi doesn't like what he finally sees. He misses the Dark Warriors a lot. He has alienated himself from them and his pack by not taking his punishment. I love that Tori likes to solve crimes like Santi. However, I have never heard of Valkyrie actually being assassins. I have to say if I was Tori I'd be glad to get out of the profession! We see glimpses of Orlando's fated mate in this book. He's got his work cut out for him. She already has a mate although he's a piece of trash! Anyone who would beat up a pregnant woman is scum of the earth! Can't wait to see how this one plays out.

Seeing the Dark Warriors in a battle with skirm, has Santiago missing his friends and second guessing the decision he made in a heated moment to go rogue.
After accidentally killing a POS drug dealer while interrogating him, Santiago doesn't feel he should be punished and leaves Zeum. Meanwhile, the head drug dealer takes out a contract on him and the assassin turns out to be the sister of the guy he killed and his Fated Mate! Determined to avenge her brother's death, she can't phantom why she is so sexually attracted to her mark. Tori is severely injured in a fight and Santiago knows that his only hope of saving her life is to take her to the doctor and staff at Zeum and face the Dark Warrior King, Zander.

Absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend it to all who love great shifter stories. Santiago is a Dark Warrior and Wolf shifter who has struggled with the way the rules are made and has taken action that has made Zander his leader and Vampire King angry and annoyed with him. Tori is a Valkyrie and sister of the vampire that Santiago has accidentally killed for being a drug dealer. Surprise to this tale is the fact that Tori is Santiago's fated mate. Between drug dealers and an evil sorceress readers should enjoy this exciting book.

Santiago has nothing to lose now that he left the Dark Warriors and now his pack. Santiago thinks he is doing right until he meets Tori and everything changes. Tori is out for revenge on Santiago but something is holding her back. The chemistry between them is off the charts and can’t be denied anymore. I liked this story especially getting Orlando’s story too. Santiago & Tori are fated mates and have been through so much and together they can get through anything. This series is addicting and can’t wait too read more.

I have been provided with a copy of Rogue Warrior by the author for an impartial review. This is the tenth book in the Dark Warrior Alliance series and it picks up with Santiago and the mess that he has gotten himself into. I really enjoyed getting know more about Santiago and his fated mate Tori. It was really interesting getting to see if they could get past all that had transpired between them. I really enjoyed this story and it totally had me. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Was glad to find out what was happening with Santi. He found his mate in the last place you would expect, she came to kill him. Now he has to convince her to accept him, forgive him, and work with him. No problem. Ok, problem. She is a Valkyrie after all.

This is a standalone romance with a HEA that forms part of a series with overlapping characters. It is on a par with the others in the series.
The reason I haven't given it five stars is that I still dislike the sudden insertion of a chapter used to progress the story of a character who is the main subject of a future book. In this case it is about Orlando and Jaidis.
This book also has a couple of issues with editing, not spelling or punctuation (at least if there were I was too engrossed in the story to spot them!) but with the subject of consecutive sentences. In some cases I had to re-read sentences to understand who was doing what but in one case the subject actually changes from Orlando with a rocket launcher to Santiago?
Over all though, a recommended read
