This book is well written, funny, and highly entertaining for children aged 6-10. This book would also be great to read a chapter at a time to kids aged 3-5.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2018Maxine's illustrations and clever writing make for a fun holiday story. Ronaldo is a little reindeer who loves flying school (such a cool idea), and who has big aspirations there. His hero is a reindeer named Vixen, and Ronaldo hopes to reach his flying potential like Vixen once did. The inspiring message he uses while flying is "Imagine. See it, feel it, believe it." Whether you're a kid or adult, this saying sticks with you. The illustrations are amazing and cute, and I like how Maxine emphasizes that Ronaldo takes good care of himself so he can go for what he wants in life. This is a creative book with an awesome message.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2020Ronaldo is no ordinary reindeer, as this wonderful children's book reveals.
Ronaldo attends the Flying Reindeer Academy alongside his best friend Rudi, enjoys The Weekly Flyer comics every Saturday morning, and dreams of becoming one of Santa's elite reindeer like his hero, Vixen Pedersen.
This is a really fun story about friendship, encouragement and celebrating one another's achievements. The story is infused with humour and warmth that is sure to engage and entertain young readers. The characters and events of the story are relatable, delivering positive lessons and modeling appropriate responses to typical.childhood challenges along the way.
Delightful reading for families and for independent young readers, this book would make an exce!lent addition to family, school.and community libraries.

I read this book to my four-year-old daughter at bedtime. We read it over the course of two nights. The story is about a reindeer who is in Flying Academy trying to become the best flyer so he can work in the north Pole one day. I don’t want to spoil the story so I won't give away much more.
I thought this book was well written. I have a hard time reading children’s books unless they amuse me as well. This book did. Our favourite part was:
“ She pointed to the top of the map with the stick and, as she did, so her jacket, straining at the buttons, popped open revealing her large belly. Distracted by this she dropped her stick. But as she bent over to pick it up, the back of her trousers strained too and ripped open...and at the same time she let out the most enormous fart! It was so loud that it echoed around the mountains.”
My daughter had such a fit of laughter that I even had to stop reading because we were too busy laughing. We also laughed at a few other parts of this book, never seemed to be a dull moment.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2017This is the second Ronaldo book I've read and the story did not let me down. I loved the characters because they were really well developed. The story moved at a good speed and I got involved in the plot. I'm a grandparent and, after I read this book, I gifted the next book (Phantom) to my son to read to his kids (he reads to them at the kitchen table after dinner each evening). I know they'll love Ronaldo.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2017Looking for a quick read to share with your little ones this holiday season? How about the newest reindeer on the block, Ronaldo! Anxious to be a good flyer and join Santa's team one day, this first adventure details Ronaldo's best day ever, including flying like his idol Vixen and eating carrot cupcakes to celebrate.
I think this would've been better as a picture book series than a drawn out book. There were moments that felt extraneous, such as lingering over Ronaldo's flying teacher and Ronaldo's bath fizz incident. However, Ronaldo was funny in his efforts and his misadventures during the brief time readers get to spend with him, like flying so long he gets icicles on his antlers and tripping into a flying formation and smashing a cake.
I thought it an interesting bit of trivia when we were told that there are traditional reindeer names and longstanding as it is, there are MANY reindeer with the same names as those in the beloved carol.
The illustrations were a somewhat adorable addition to the story. We got to see into Ronaldo's life, glimpses that made him more relatable such as posters in his room that depicted famous reindeer athletes and movie stars/singers. Some of them were better than others and some didn't really make sense, like Ronaldo's antlers looking more like moose ones than reindeer.
As long as not too much logic is asked of the story, it could be a fun one for young children to read or be read to, especially around this time of year as reindeer are prevalent in the delivery of Christmas presents.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2020I bought this book for our family to read together in the weeks leading up to Christmas. My kids (ages 7 & 9) thoroughly enjoyed it and wanted more Ronaldo books as soon as we finished this one! The characters are lovable and it’s a fun story! 5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book for children
A wonderful book for young children to read together with their parents, or older children by themselves. The colourful illustrations work well on the kindle edition too, and add an extra special touch to the story.
A well written tale with characters children will love, and a few burps and farts along the way that will make them giggle! I highly recommend for anyone with young children.

5.0 out of 5 stars As a big kid (adult !) I really enjoyed reading this witty, humorous, well written and illustrated book.
I had seen a review of this book on a cphilipou blog , you can see her thoughts here Christina Phillipou's Review , well it was the cover that got my attention, it is just a little bit adorable.
This is a tale of Ronaldo, his dream is to be picked for the "North Pole Reindeer Team", they are the elite who are handpicked by Santa himself. Part of the training at Flying School is an endurance race, and it actually advice from his granddad that helps Ronaldo.
Not only is the cover adorable, but the pictures inside are of the same standard, they are colourful and very appropriate. The story itself is one that has a message, I didn't feel that is was overused and I liked that.
The message is about believing in yourself, imagining yourself doing something and it makes it easier to do whatever is required, being positive.
It is witty and humorous and has a really nice pace to it.
I would definitely recommend this book to young readers. I felt it was appropriate for the age range of 6-10 years, a great book to read with a child or for them to read themselves.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining children's book
The caricatures in the book move like a saturday morning cartoon feature throughout the story.
Children will certainly find this attribute entertaining.
Illustrations of Reindeer Ronaldo take the form of human like quality.
Comical naratives permeate the story's core.
