Royally Screwed: A Tale of Two Princes Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 743 ratings

Take one betrothal gone awry… Prince Angelo is destined to marry Prince Yuri. Never mind that Angelo isn’t gay and didn’t choose to be saddled with a moony-eyed princeling who is determined to ruin Angelo’s life. Then one day Yuri goes too far and Angelo has to take matters into his own hands. Add one doomed arranged marriage… Prince Yuri is destined forever to pine after Prince Angelo. Arranged marriages are archaic and awful enough without being stuck for life with someone you want who will never, ever in a million years want you back. Still, for someone who claims to want nothing to do with Yuri, Angelo is surprisingly possessive. And you just might get one unexpected romance. These two men, thrown together by fate and scheming parents, shouldn’t have a prayer of finding a happy ever after. But fate can be fickle, and love can exist where you never thought it could. Royally Screwed is a 75,000-word M/M novel featuring royalty, a poorly-thought-out betrothal, one prince in need of a firm hand, a second prince who isn’t as straight as he always thought, drunken texting, bickering, practice kissing, odious British nobility, and falling in love despite all the reasons why you shouldn’t.

Lynn Van Dorn was born in Ohio and left it for the wilds of Chicago in her reckless youth. She wanted to become a fairy princess when she grew up, but since there are few openings for that position, she makes do with being a writer.

In her spare time, she drinks entirely too much tea, snugs her cats, fills her house with flamingos, loves her husband and son, reads voraciously, and avoids housework. Loved it! I adored Angelo and Yuri’s story. It was so wonderfully laid out as their relationship progressed throughout their life and betrothal. I was immediately drawn into their story and devoured it over the weekend. It evoked great emotion in me from laughter, some sadness, and sexy times that had me fanning myself. What I loved most was how Angelo’s sexual awakening was portrayed. It wasn’t overnight, or like a light switch, it was almost a conscious awakening. Angelo didn’t consider it a bi-awakening, but rather a Yuri-awakening as the only man he had eyes for was Yuri. It was such a natural take on coming to realize that love is not about parts, but the person behind the parts. It was lovely and organic, and not surprising coming from this author. Angelo and Yuri’s story was beautiful and sexy and I couldn’t recommend it more. 100 books in, Royally Screwed is definitely in my Top Five reads of the year so far.

Here it is , at last , Royally Screwed. The perfect Summer book for your Pool , Beach or Staycation.

📌Tongue in cheek, snarky , witty banter and dialogue ☑
📌Sexy as sin, kinky, OTT , unusual, mischievous and likeable characters- ☑
    📌Draromedy AKA drama-romance-comedy 😂😁😉just made that up LOL- ☑
    📌Hot AF - I am burning here - sexy times - ☑
    📌Unrequited Love ☑
    📌Lots of pining and brooding☑
📌Lots of spanking and other light kinky yumminess☑

Adding to all that goodness, this story also have: a heavy dose of Fairytale Glitter ; ridiculous, fabulous and far fetched Royal life scenarios , mild D/s , angst , few villainous situations and couple schemers.

It all contributes to deliver us an enjoyable, laughing out loud, lively story.

So if I loved it so much , why 4 and not 5 ? Well, the main story plot is based on Angel and Yuri betrothal . So , when the conniving Machiavellian in chief (not spoilers from me) revealed his/her/their convoluted schemes was a bit anticlimactic . A -much ado about nothing - type of situation. The Resolution felt rushed. With all that said, I had a great time reading this enchanting tale.

Another winner by Ms. Van Dorn who is an automatic buy for me...sight unseen (or unread blurb)...this wonderful tale of two Princes from fictitious kingdoms who are betrothed at birth, never mind it was supposed to be a male/female...and are essentially brought up together mostly unwillingly. They have a bit of a love/hate relationship that only deepens as they grow up and mature. Yuri and Angelo are wonderfully complex characters, a hallmark of Ms Van Dorn's books and this is no exception to that rule. Lots of angst, some wonderful kink, very smart men and unexpected events but mostly just a great character driven story. LOVED IT!! Highly Recommend.

First of, let me say I’m a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope. I’m also a huge sucker for cute dialogues, of which this book has plenty. Bonus points for great writing.

However! Yuri spent so much time crying in almost every scene that I went from being mildly irritated to genuinely concerned for his mental health.

    ****Spoilers ahead****

His sheer hopelessness about his future and life after marriage to Angelo, coupled with the fact that he stayed in an abusive relationship in a desperate attempt to make his pre-marriage love life count, should have set off alarm bells in everyone around him. But somehow none of the people who loved him seemed to think this or his frequent crying bouts were an issue.

Another stumbling block was the idea of two 16-yr olds falling into a mild BDSM relationship when they can’t stand each other. Especially a relationship that starts with one spanking the other in real anger after an argument. Even more magically, he instinctively knows about aftercare. I just

Still giving it 2.5/3 stars for the writing and dialogues.

There is no denying this is a gay for you book. These two princes were betrothed at birth, however, one happens to be gay while the other was straight. They still have to Get married, regardless. I liked the story line, no actual cheating was done, though these two did date other people which I thought was a good thing because they were bound to each other forever and ever and....
I was a bit turned off though by the beleaguered straight guy trope that carried through the entire book, I get that some people don't like labels but to have one character questioning the intentions of the other throughout most of the book was a bit much.
That said, I loved the relationship these two have, constantly in each other's space. No crazy angst, a bit of discipline and all around fun to read. 🥰🥰

    Holy cow, you guys!!!!

LVD wrote this story masterfully. Just when I didn't know how much more I could take, I was begging, and, thankfully, given more.

I adore these men so much—Yuri in his longing angst and Angelo in his reluctant yet fiercely protective selves. So much love, connection, and fiery chemistry.

There's so much to unpack in their journey and themselves. So much self-discovery about life and how we are defined, by self and others, which is done beautifully here.

Angst. Beauty. Questioning. Wit. Humor. Love. Fierceness. Vulnerability. Heat. And so much more. This book has the best of what defines a good romance story.

I highly enjoyed and happily recommend this read. I can’t wait for the audio release to experience it all over again.

Always happy to get a new book from this author! A fun take on a royal arranged marriage. The characters are fun, and I liked that we got to see their relationship build from the time they were children. I will say i wouldn't have minded a smidgen more about what they're like just as people (as in what they're like away from each other), just a little more to round them out. However, still loved it, can't wait for whatever Van Dorn comes out with next!

Loved everything about this book. It has fun, love, sex, hate, pain and a HEA.
We get to meet Yuri and Angel who are childhood friends, prince's and betrothed. But all is not as it seems. One has loved the other for years, whilst the other is straight and loves nothing more than a girls in his bed.
We get to witness a beating, a stabbing, love that grows, honour, friendship. Seriously I loved this book, it had everything you need, especially on a cold, dark wet day.

Almost 4 stars and I would like to say the story definitely deserved a 4 star until the end, which seemed a bit rushed. The story is very sweet. I really liked the relationship between our heroes it was very cute. The few things didn't like about the book as I mentioned before was the ending and apart from that was in the beginning the author said, it's British English written with American spelling. As much as this does not make sense, while reading the novel also the language didn't feel British at all except for a few forced slangs. I can only assume that author is an Anglophile and wanted to include the British mannerisms to give more plausibility to our royal characters. Which them being from an imaginary country didn't need it.
Overall it's a sweet book and definitely a one time read.

I really like this author but find current era monarchy romances very silly, I always end up thinking of the British royal family and they do nothing for me ... This had surprising depth and development.

It explores two codependent princes and their spanking kink. I ended up caring for both characters.

    Well worth it.
