Reaper: A Tortured Hero Romance (Redwood Rebels Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 596 ratings

They call me the reaper.

Saying I have no soul.

A heart that’s charred black.

I tell them it’s true,

because it is.

I’ve been hiding in the shadows.

Stealing secrets, destroying the lives of those who deserve it.

But there’s one story to be told before this book closes.

My story.

Don’t be fooled, it’s not a fairytale.

I’m no prince.

And I certainly don’t want a princess.

With me, she’d never get a happily ever after.

I’d break her heart in two then serve it on a platter with a smile on my face.

I told her to stay away.

Forced her on her knees.

Made her beg.

Made her cry.

Yet, she still wants my help.

Everything I do comes with a price.

They call me the reaper.

And she’ll give me a soul.

Even if it’s hers I take.

I dare you not to feel this love story!
Reaper ... I knew the last story in the Redwood Rebels series would hit the hardest ... that Zed’s story would wreck me, and that it did. When you read a story that cuts through you like a knife, gripping you, gutting you, and rendering you raw, bare, and breathless, you can't help but feel every word as if each were a slice to your heart and a song to your soul. Reaper shook my soul as it hammered itself into my heart, a force of feels that took my breath away. So heartbreakingly beautiful. I could not stop feeling this romance that wrecked me in the most wonderful of ways! The most broken of bullying bad boys, Zed, finally gets his story, and oh what a wild ride it is! Zed has so many layers and I wanted to peel back each one and revel in the complexity of this hero that owned me. A hero who finally meets his match in a heroine who’s his equal in every way. Brave, bold, and beautiful. Broken sees broken and this hero and heroine heal each other’s shattered pieces, making them whole. I felt this multi-layered hero and heroine so much! There was so much intrigue and angst, complexity, and moving parts, and I loved watching this hero and heroine battle every bit, growing stronger as one in this spectacular and shatteringly stunning story. A heartwarming and heartbreaking novel about love, loss, strength, self-discovery, and how we choose which life we are meant to live. Reaper is as beautiful as it broken. A heart-racing roller coaster of delicious drama, twists and turns, meaningful moments and an intense connection that will make your emotions fly as you fall in love with this hero and heroine and their spellbinding love story. I was a goner for this romance. Reaper dominated my head and heart, and there was nothing I could do except surrender to its pull ... its passion ... its power ... its everything. Rachel Leigh has written one extraordinary and emotional journey. I dare you not to feel this love story. Rachel Leigh amazes me with each tale she pens to life, seamlessly infusing bravery and beauty into her bully romances for the perfect light and dark balance. I keep reveling in the Redwood Rebels series, an interlocking romance of a closely-knit crew that’s caught my heart, wrapping me up in steam, swoon, stirring suspense, and soul-filled love. Redwood crew, I will miss you. 💋💋💋💋💋💋 all the beautifully broken kisses

I cannot believe this series is over. I have loved every single one, but I think I have found a new favorite Rebel. Zed is beautifully broken and his story was worth waiting for!

Zed is running from many things in his past, but Vi is also running from a dark past. These two are beautifully broken, but fit together perfectly. Zed and Vi both have dealt with the same trauma, and bonded over it.

Zed and Vi have this push and pull relationship, but they are so magnetic, that neither one of them can stay away. The growth that these two go through throughout the book is incredible. I loved seeing how they overcame their past to open up their lives for the future.

The end made me cry. Seeing all the Redwood Rebels come full circle was touching. I cannot wait to read the 10 years later epilogue and will be hunting it down as soon as it is live!

This series is one of my favorites and it is hard to let go. Reaper is the final book in the Redwood Rebels series. If you have not started Redwood Rebels, do it. It is a series of interconnected standalones and you must read Striker, Heathen and Vandal first.

I have been chomping at the bit to get Zed's story ever since the end of Striker and man o' man did the author deliver on everything I could have hoped for. Not only did we get all the answers, we also got Zed and Vi's epic story. They've secret friends for years and they've shared so many firsts and I was living for their story. This story is set both in current day and through a series of flashbacks and this approach allows us to get the whole story.

The chemistry between these two was phenomenal and I felt that Vi got Zed in a way that no one else would. Zed's story itself was very emotional and you could feel his depression seeping out of the pages. I don't know if I ever thought I would actually forgive Zed after the other books in this series but this author not only made me forgive him, I actually ended up feeling for him.

I definitely recommend this book, just make sure to read the books in order as this isn't really a standalone.

The story has come full circle or just keeps going like the infinity circle the guys and Marni have tattooed on them. All my questions for the previous books were answered. And we got to see why Zed is so broken. Loved this series!

Okay this book is the best one Zeb the most tortured most evil of all the guys and without a doubt the most wicked Rebel ever he and Vi are perfect for each other they both share a tragic past there the Keepers of each other's secrets. In this final book Vienna saves Zed whitch really makes him furious she needs help and has never really given up on him his friends want answeres to the night her brother died and Zeb won't let them get to Vi she's his one weakness his forever that he once threw away now hes ready to take that second chance and take his last act of revenge but what if the one he wants to protect gets caught in the fires of his revenge. For Vi there's nowhere left to run can she trust Zeb to keep her safe or dose she just dissappear. This book definitely has a finality too it though it would be fun to see were there kids end up if they have any threw revenge, murder and secrets the Redwood Rebels stayed true.

*sits and stares at wall for hours not that it’s over*

From the beginning I was not a fan of zed- no way no how. I thought he was just an entitled jerk… but harsher. I’ll be honest I wasn’t sure I wanted to see redemption for him. But wow I was not prepared for the honest emotional rollercoaster this book took me on. Every action from the beginning was seen in a different light. He was just a lost boy searching for something… to feel anything… he was hauntingly beautiful and literally reached into my chest to touch my heart.

And what he needed has always been right in front of him- the girl next door, Vi Moran.

📖I want him to break my heart so that it might mend his.📖

There was so much depth to this story. So much more than what was shown on the surface of their lives. They had their secrets together and it made them against the world. I loved watching Zed realizing the depth of his feelings for this girl and letting her in to his black heart that only beats for her.

📖 I was never the reaper after her soul, I was the soulless boy after her heart. I was never gonna let her take the fall.📖

I feel like a reread of this series will be in my future to just see things with open eyes …of course after I binge the rest of Rachel’s backlist.

Oh and be sure to download the bonus story in case you need Leigh to mess with your anxiety a little more.

I mean this was an ok book. If book is even the right term for it. Just seemed more like a trailer, you get bits & pieces of information but not quite the whole story. Not sure why there were so many 5 star ratings? Wasn't the worst but definitely wasn't the best. I guess I'd recommend to someone who was maybe thinking about reading.

Reaper, Redwood Rebels book 4 by @rachelleighauthor
    ………….
“It’s what we do. I save you, and you save me.”
    …………
I’ve been waiting for Zeds story for forever and he didn’t disappoint! Zed is the character you hate but want to understand. He was dark from the start and you couldn’t help but be interested in his darkness.
    …………..
“He’s a broken boy with a past that haunts him. He’s my broken wing.”
    …………..
This is the last book in the series so I don’t want to give a lot away but will explain what is great about this series. It’s 4 books and each one is a different couple. It has the same storyline throughout and Reaper was the ending to a long awaited mystery. Each couple is its own enemies to lovers trope. They all end with HEA 😍 and I loved Zeds story. We get all the answers we need on Josh and what exactly went down with him that set all of this into motion. I’ve enjoyed each one and so glad to see the group back together and happy again!

Four friends make a pact between themselves that they would help each other get revenge on someone who has hurt them in the past. Zed acts like he doesn't have a heart, but Vi was always the only girl for him. Who brought him to life, and made him feel emotions that he didn't want to feel. Vi has her own issues to deal with. Can they find their way together, or will their past demons keep them apart?

5.0 out of 5 stars I went into this wondering if Rachel would change my mind - and OF COURSE SHE DID!!

"From start to finish. And everything in between."

Reaper is book 4 & final book in the Redwood Rebels Series. This series needs to be read in order.

Zed King - The take all, show no mercy hero who’s out for revenge and doesn't care who gets burned to get it. That is, unless your Vienna (Vi) Moran.
Vi is a spitfire. I FU<KING LOVE her! She's smart and not afraid to call Zed out on his shit. She has also been through some stuff of her own, one being the very same Zed endured.
They know each other on another level. Only, Zed decided once at high school, to ignore her existence - to push her away in his own attempt to protect her from everything. To protect her from him.
"Not only do I know Vi Moran. She knows me - the only person in the entire world who does. She knows every scar, every loss, she saw the only tears that fell from my eyes."

Zed’s walls are built high - and it's no wonder given what he's been through. Only, he used the cruelness and attitude as a way of hiding. He's broken, and he feels as though it's beyond repair. It’s his defense mechanism. And he’s ready to escape the nightmare he lives in his head every day – to find some peace.
“All my life I've lived with the idea that if I appear big, bad and ugly, the monsters can't touch me.”

Zed has been one I've disliked most from the beginning, so I went into this wondering if Rachel would change my mind - and OF COURSE SHE DID!!
Yes. He is a cocky, stubborn, A$$hole whose done horrible things to people (some being those closest to him) he's a deeply tortured hero - but once you crack his exterior, I assure you you'll be swooning just as hard for this Rebel as I was.
“Everyone is so quick to see the ugly that they don't take the time to see anything else. Perception is everything, even if we all have a different reality.”
Zed doesn't do feelings, so when he finally tells Vi what she's always wanted to hear (and what he’s always known to be true) - She. Got. Me. 😭😭
"I was never the reaper after her soul, I was the soul-less boy after her heart."

I loved this book, and this series. Highly recommend you check them out!

I loved the entire series and following each of the Redwood Rebel boys’ adventures, stories, loves, turmoils and successes. Talon, Lars, Tommy and Zed are quite the group of high school boys who have a bond that is so tight, you know something has to snap and break eventually. And it does…in a dark and deadly way. Will things be mended? Can they be mended? Should they be mended?
Rachel Leigh writes the characters so they each hold a special spot in your heart, even after you’ve read the final word.
Definitely read Striker, Heathen, Vandal and Reaper to see what I mean.

It's a good book, but I was so hyped for Zed's story that this felt like a let down. The disappointment is my own expectations' fault, still it felt too simplistic for the complex character Zed has been in the past books. His relationship with Vi was so out of the blue I was confused by the intensity. The writer goes back and forth a bit with them so we can understand their past and involvement but it's not enough for me to see that connection. I expected more. Also, dragging the Josh drama 4 books is excessive, I was not even interested anymore. In the end, Idk if I would can this Romance book. Yes there is romance but the main deal is Zed wanting his money back, Vi is like a side plot, there were no actual build up or deepness into it. Lars' book (the best imo) shows what this author is capable of and this is not it.
